Hi

When I was sixteen I lost an eye.  Since then I have never worn make up except lipstick and nail polish.  Whenever I went to a special occasion like a wedding or funeral I had my face made up professionally.

I was afraid that the make up would look off if I could not see with both eyes so have never really used it.  Also as I am getting older I found when I bought clothes that they looked too young or too old so was a little bit stuck.  While surfing the net I was looking at makeovers and came across a site of an image consultant.  I rang her up and we talked a few times.  She said we should be able to work around my vision impairment.

I met her on Friday and then again on Saturday on Skype. The following is the email she sent me summing everything up from the day. Hope is is of some interest.

It was lovely to meet you yesterday and chat via skype just now. Please find below a summary of our session for reference.

In terms of the best colours for you, the ones that look best are medium to light in density and you are able to wear both warm and cool colours. It’s best if the colours are muted rather than bright and fabrics with texture also will look good. Black is too harsh and dark and block colours will work best if you are wearing something that shows your tattoos. Patterns will compete with the tattoos and your outfit will look poorly put together.

In terms of your make-up:

Lips – line and fill in with lip liner and then use a gloss or a metallic over the top to make them appear bigger and to ensure the colour lasts

Foundation – BB cream (Garnier) will give you a light coverage whilst adding some sunscreen and moisturizer

Eyes – we can talk about this more on Thursday but we will keep this simple but effective with one or two colours of eye shadow. For ease it would be best to get your eyelashes and eyebrows tinted when money allows, otherwise we can discuss and practice darkening your eyebrows on Thursday.

From a style point of view, outfits should be soft and warm and where possible have some sparkle without the outfit or item having too much bling and looking too harsh or bold.

I hope this is helpful.

@Carrie  Yes, Garnier BB cream to me is a great value and my favorite foundation now. I very frequently use this for everyday use.  It works well and I’ve found it does seem to offer a little UV protection (SPF15). I never have raccoon eyes if wearing sunglasses all day in the sun with it on. The 1 oz. size is relatively cheap at Ulta for around $15.

For you ladies that have not oily skin, do get the Revlon Photoready BB cream. It's a tinted moisturizer, a good SPF of 30, while it also perfects the skin.

The cost is less than 10 dollars. It comes with three shades Light, Light Medium, Medium. Go to Walmart, Target and  where and do try it .

Nope.  I live in a rural area.  Pride events are for city folks.  The normally quiet LGBTQ+ club kind of changes atmosphere during that time, and things get a bit political.  As a non-Democrat, I avoid it.

For me, definitely the size thing.  I'm 5'4" on a good day, and 100lbs.  I can pass as a teenage boy, but never for my real mid-30s age.  And since my husband looks older than his age, I'm often assumed to be his kid.  Or folks think there's something illegal going on.      Also, my lack of the typical aggressive "masculine" demeanor.  I don't really desire the typical masculine social role, nor could I do it even if I tried really hard.  I'm usually quiet and kind of timid.

I am sorry for your struggles. I cannot empathize, but I can surely sympathize. I wish only the best for you!

No, they are the only provider of services I need an my area. 😑

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!
