Bicalutamide

ON average, how long does it take for one to feel the effects of Bicalutamide and for testosterone to start converting to estradiol?

Bicalutamide is an anti-androgen. Without an estrogen substitute to back it up (the literature only mentions the possibility of some estrogen-like effects) you can expect breast tenderness, maybe some growth and hot flashes. Pro Tip: Hot flashes suck.

We're all different, but when I went off HRT it took about two weeks for the side-effects (hot flashes & night sweats) to kick in. I do not recommend either. Bleah.

You're about my age so I'm going to add that WITH estridiol, I started to experience (slow) breast development at around two months. At a little over two years it's still ongoing. Soreness at about one month (and oh my goddess were they sore). Mental effects were quicker. About a month or two before I really started to notice. I would very much miss the sense of calmness and self that I get with my HRT regimen. Even so, it took two tries for my endocrinologist to get me on a dosage she liked so call it four months or so before my hormones leveled out.

Hugs!

T does not convert to E. Bica as Jackie mentioned is an AA, meaning it suppresses androgens through some mechanism. You body already produces E, but not in any significant quantities for feminization. In order to increase your E levels and experience feminization, you will need to supplement E from an external sources such as pill, patch or injection. Most AA's will allow a little feminization as a result of T being lowered and the little bit of E you naturally produce to have an effect. Most AMAB do not naturally produce enough E though, so while YMMV, expect very little if anything if on AA only.

Also, you can't safely suppress T for any real length of time without adding E, as it is very unhealthy to go for extended periods without a primary sex hormone. I highly recommend you discuss all of this with your doc(s).

Similar to Jackie, it took me a little over a month to start to really notice any changes. I am on Spiro amd not Bica, also on E.

Sorry, I should clarify a little more for accuracy, T does aromatize to E, but you need T do this and T has much stronger effects than E so, by suppressing T, you limit how much T is available for aromatization and the T remaining will most likely negate the little gains in E levels you may experience.

Morning y'all.    Nearly winter here, but it's a mild climate compared to what most of you experience. Even so, the best way to describe the mornings lately is...nipply! 😁

What I don’t like about the dealer working on my car, yes the put the paper mats on the floor, but why don’t they remove them when they bring my car to me?  And why do they always mess with my radio settings and my electronic dashboard settings?  I get them the way I want them and they seem to want them at factory default.  Leave things like you find them!  Why is that so difficult?  And don’t tell me it’s because the updated the computer! Every time!.  And no I haven’t figured out everything yet on the new car.  I can’t even get my key programmed to move my seat when I get in and out.  It’s supposed to move the seat, the mirrors, the steering wheel and several other things.  My old Eddie Bauer was easy to program but then it only programmed seat location and pedal location.   ok now that we’ve had our rousing knock on cars and dealer mechanics.  What else shall we talk about?  Bras?  Seems like an appropriate subject for most of us.  I have several different types. Two are famous store push-up padded to are more common everyday lightly padded ant one is a no padding no strap slip and the last one is a front close longline no padding.  Now that one supports the theory that I am now a B cup on my own. I’d prefer a C but then I’m not so sure my blouses would still fit without pulling.  Ah the problem we have as women.  And sizes are never ever the same.  Oh I’m a size ??  But men I need a large shirt and 36-30 pants and they always fit.   we can’t buy anything off the rack with confidence it will fit and I hate having to take it home to try one and return what doesn’t fit.   we’ll time to do my hair and leave.   love ya   Willow

Hello we are The lake. So called because This One has not determined a name for oneself but has in a way created an environment to try out multiple names as different people. Currently Some of us use she/her pronouns and one uses he/him. We hope to learn more about being transgender and the intricacies involved. Once again it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance and we hope to be of further help in the future.
