Study: HRT May Lead to Higher Risk of Porphyria

It seems from reading this article that it is caused by using too much E.  Smoking appears to be a factor as well.  Perhaps this is one reason why i was told that i should not smoke again.  In my case i certainly didn't want to get hooked again anyway!

Certainly another reason to be careful and work with an experienced doctor.

Hugs,

Charlize

I'm not on HRT yet, but I wonder if any of our Members have experienced some of the side-effects mentioned?  Acne, skin issues (sun blisters?), skin darkening?  (the changes in hair distribution seem a normal effect)

Its good to know these symptoms I think, specially if just starting HRT or a change in therapy ?

Yikes, I am already very sensitive to the sun. Not a full blown allergy, but highly sensitive. I do not go outside without a good slathering off sun block.

I am glad that the authors stressed the importance of ensuring that the potential for this side effect was carefully balanced against the need for gender affirming care.

Kay, I already had skin issues related to the sun, so I avoid it as much as possible; that being said, I haven’t noticed any increase in sensitivity at 8 months on hrt. I can tell you, that in general, my skin is less oily and as result, the blackheads and acne I had have almost cleared up entirely.

Hmm, I do tend to burn easily, but I avoid excessive sun and use sunscreen often anyways.  As I never smoked, hopefully that helps me out as well.

My doc is extra-cautious. So seeing as the woman was bumped from 0mg Progesterone/Day to XXmg/D and from XXmg to XXmg Oral Est/D is incredibly alarming. It appears to be no wonder what with her daily smoking and 2 beers/D for a month and this "supratherapeutics" that her regimen became injurious. It alarms me that the articles find her jump from XXmg/D to XXmg/D to be "within published guidelines," implying that such a drastic change is advisable, especially to this high risk patient. I also find it sad that the women chose to continue smoking and drinking despite doctors advising against whilst they pulled her HRT and subverted it with XXMG Hydroxychloroquine. It would appear she has underlying substance issues not involved with HRT or PCT.

Thanks for the read Carolyn Marie! I had fun with this one.

I think there is some truth in this.  They intend to implement Project 2025, whether or not he spends his energies persecuting the Democrats who have been persecuting him (in his view, a debatable point) and does nothing else.   I have seen numerous accusations that the document is about "Trumpism", whatever that is, and is merely a vehicle for him to become dictator.  From what I have read so far, that is the same sort of truth as the Steele Dossier, denying the validity of a certain laptop, Schiff's non-existence evidence of collaboration and a host of other things, many directly from Biden, that are simply not true.   I will continue reading it.

      Who, precisely, are "they"?

Wife of mine pointed out that not getting a haircut for a month looks hideous - weird bald patches.  So back to super- short buzz cut.  This morning I braced, looking in the mirror.  I look like a woman trying to pass as a a guy, maybe  a small-breasted woman with enough T treatment to grow a mustache.    I would not believe me if I read what I write about me.  This is nuts.   White t-shirt: that they sell in the back of WM so you can tie-dye them or otherwise decorate them. They are thick and long lasting and slightly fitted, so that they could be a man's.  I like them.   Jeans, flip flops.   I will no longer point out these are women's.  What else would I wear?

That is all that is necessary. I did the same thing. I must have gotten something wrong.

Quite right mate! I have been letting my hair grow out again (I cut it all off when I was 18).    I'll never look this good:    But I'll aspire to look my best! ☺️

I got my voting registration card the other day. So I can definitely vote in the general election this fall.

They want the freedom to take ours away.

Yeah, if Trump wins, they'll just flip it again.
    • Ivy
Nope.  He is merely a tool for them to get a foot in the door.  Any other "conservative" president would be fine - on the off chance he doesn't actually run. Trump's "policies" change with his whims.  Look how he's trying to back peddle on abortion.  The only thing he stands for is himself.

Wasn't there some question of whether the perp actually was trans?
