Coming out to other trans people?

Hey all! A little update on me and the girl from my class:

A few weeks ago I asked her if she wanted to have lunch with me and a friend at the dining hall. We hit it off pretty well, and got to talking for a while. I waited for her to bring up her trans identity before I said anything about mine, but she seemed pretty comfortable talking about that with me. I've been getting lunch or dinner with her a couple days a week and she's gotten to know some of my other friends pretty well too, and it's great being able to welcome her into our community here at college. Good luck to anyone else out there that's in a similar situation! I know it's intimidating to reach out to new people but really it's good to know that you're not alone.

@Rorelai,

    That's really great to hear new friendships are always a good thing. It's good to hear about things like this going well. The space you gave them to tell you in their own time was a great decision and it sounds like she is happy to have some new friends too. I needed to hear something great today. You nailed it girl, thanks!

Very good, that's how you do it.  Seems like you may have a new friend and ally!

That's really awesome, and a great example for the rest of us of how to make a connection with someone new.  Thank you for sharing the update❣️

For me, coming out is a no brainer on this Forum, and on tgAA. It's what we do, isn't it?

Coming out to my relatives is another story. I live alone, so I've got the luxury of being on HRT for awhile with a "retreat right" intact if I decide it's not on for me. No point in laying on that surprising revelation unless and until I decide to keep going with HRT until the changes become irreversible. I think I'll be happy as a clam, but I'm not going to force my two younger siblings to adjust their heads so much about who their older brother really is unless and until I am willing to surrender that "retreat right."

Of course, that is my thinking on the very front end of HRT. The only thing of which I can be sure is that whatever I predict about anyone else's reaction, it will be wrong.

Fun times await us all, I guess
