Desire to be masculine but envious of beautiful women?

Hey all, I joined the Trans Pulse forums in hopes I could get some insight on a reoccurring experience I've had ever since coming out as a trans man.

Although I don't think this influences my way of thinking, I've come out to friends and acquaintances but not my family members.  I have come out twice in my life, the first time being a teenager dealing with a lot of self-doubt and confidence issues which eventually led me to give up on myself and present myself as a woman despite knowing I never truly felt like one.  I've described on multiple accounts that I felt more like a dress-up doll than a person during this time.  I knew how to make myself look attractive. I dressed well, my confidence got better over time as I got older but I knew I was lying to myself.  The second time around that I came out was fairly recent, and knowing myself more as an adult as well as establishing healthy, supportive friendships has helped me tremendously in finding more comfort and security within my identity.

But now I am struggling with feelings of wanting to be like the confident, beautiful women I see on social media despite being uncomfortable with the idea of people seeing and referring to me as a woman.  When I see trans men successfully go through their transition and show off their bodies bravely and confidently I am filled with joy, as I too want to achieve what they have.  I enjoy dressing in both "feminine" and "masculine" clothing (despite believing anyone can wear anything).  I love fashion, I love makeup, I love raw and uninhibited self-expression.  I cannot help but think that I should not feel this way if I truly was what I say I identify as, despite feeling like I have been nothing but honest with myself.  I feel comfort in being referred to as a man, I feel truly seen when my friends use male pronouns when referring to me.  I've considered the possibility of being non-binary, but it doesn't feel quite right.  I know the transgender spectrum is vast, and I'm not really sure what kind of answer I'm looking for now that I've typed this all out, but I guess I hope that how I feel makes sense in a way.

Thanks for hearing me out.

Welcome to Transpulse papaparca!

I came here a little over a year ago or so to delve into why I felt envy and a desire to be a woman. I am jealous of anybody who can exude confidence in their given image, man or woman or gender-neutral. I believe one of the best early advise I was given is to start exploring, and not worrying about fitting into a "box". There are CIS Men whom enjoy fashion and makeup, just like there are CIS Women that hate the latter. This does not make them fit more with one than the other, it is just an interest they have. What makes you feel good and confident that you are being the best you is what matters. I know this takes a lot of experimentation, at least that is what I am learning.

If you fully transition you will have a deep voice and beard, do you feel alright with that? There's a lot of man these days that wear makeup and everything.

Be the man you want to be, do what you feel like doing. You will still be a very valid and awesome trans man.

Being trans is about identity, let's not make this a prison. Be free.

I definitely can't wait for HRT.  Being able to grow facial hair, for my voice to sound more natural to me—it's all very exciting and I'm full of anticipation for it.  I dream of the day I can afford top surgery and see my body become what I always wanted it to be.

Thank you so much for your insight, it means the world to me!

Thanks for the welcome!

Although my confidence definitely improved maybe I'm still struggling with it here and there.  Hopefully with some experimentation I can find out what helps me feel like I'm being the best me without feeling like I have to question every little thing along the way. :)

If you know you're a man, and you dress in what's perceived as women's clothing, that doesn't make you a woman. It makes you a really stealthy cross-dresser.

Heck I didn't even know they could go up that high! I just have a four burner and one to keep stuff warm. What kind of pies did you make?

I'm sure you'd rock it, girl!

That's all the matters.   Well me and the wife rode to Perkins for breakfast. As we were waiting for our food. Being it is Sunday There are a few gentleman in suits, my guess from church. I think to myself. I hope I never have to wear one of those monkey suits ever again. Now a nice dress maybe.   Hugs,   Kymmie

From time to time I've looked at 'Who Is Online" and I have consistently noticed that members are ALWAYS outnumbered by Guests by a wide margin, sometimes, like a minute ago, by more than a 10:1 margin.  I have never seen that before on an internet forum.  It can be explained partly by the nature of what this is, that it draws the curious and they are certainly welcome to read here, and to join, but it leaves me with a feeling of being in a fishbowl.  I wonder who ARE these people?  Donald Trump, is that you? Biden? Sinwar? Putin?  We can only guess.

So from time to time my brain gets a hold of information and puts it together with other information in weird way that get me thinking. I was reading about a nudes cruise that they are running out if Miami. It got me thinking that a transgendered person who is also a naturalist, has to be one of the most unlucky people alive. How does one manage that and does that ever come up? Not trying to make fun here, just genuinely curious. Things that make you go hmmmm....

No luck there, really. She's getting a signing bonus plus a little extra that I don't think would cover much in the way of the move, but it is something!   Oh my! I am glad to hear you're not passing anymore blood. I hope they figure it out soon! How distressing!   @April Marie @KymmieL @Mirrabooka @Willow @Justine76, thank you for the kind words and thoughts! We told our best friends last night. There were many tears. Now it's all about the work: selling the house (my wife's friend's son said he may want to buy it direct!), a job (a former employee of mine wants to bring me over to his company--and they're based outside of Tacoma!), and moving (just started going through what we don't want bring and donating things). So things have kicked off.   I'm not so sure of the job, it would be good to work with my former employee (he's great) but I fear the culture may not be super welcoming to someone like me--and the guy doesn't know I'm trans in any way. But I'll give it a shot as my authentic self and see what happens!

@LadypcnjI'm sorry. I know the feeling my mom thinks I'm going through a phase too although I didn't come out till April 17, 2023, so it was later in life. I was in denial majority of my life. I would love to hear more about this if you are comfortable sharing more of it.

I love fashion. I have over 100 dresses and 74 pairs of shoes. My walk-in closet is full of other clothes as well. I'm getting more shorts soon. SHEIN is awesome for quality and price. Just when you get a leather coat from them it's just the shell not the liner. Most of my shoes are from Torrid because I wear size 13 women's.

Unfortunately Oklahoma is about as bad as Texas but definitely not as bad as Florida. Especially as a minor!

I'm sorry @Ladypcnj I can only sympathize with you on that. Therapist on the other hand is crazy. I have had 16 in 10 years. It sucks having to have to go over things. I will say though after 6 therapists I didn't have to explain my history they simply read the history.

I followed you and will give you my advice when I can. It has happened to me a lot too. If you want to you can always message me and I'll get back to you ASAP. I understand your concerns.

I don't use it.   One of my daughters gave me a little to experiment with, but I haven't.  My youngest tried to put some on me once, but I din't like it.  The light was pretty bad admittedly. My ex didn't use it, and my daughters didn't use it much either when they were still at home.  (If so it was very subtle) And I don't often notice it on women my age (mid 70's)   I shave every day.  But my beard is not heavy, and essentially grey, so it's not real noticeable unless you get close with good light.  I was starting to look into electrolysis, but the pandemic hit, and I just kinda dropped it.   Sometimes I do wonder about it though.
