Hello, everybody!

I just thought that I would like to tell everybody about how things have been going and in particular explain my absence yesterday.

I usually let everyone know when I am going to be away for a while so I won't come back to find a batch of PMs from people wanting immediate help - I take this forum very seriously, I have friends and they will just wait for an answer but I also have a number of people with serious problems who need to talk and don't understand why I don't answer if I am still logged in - like yesterday.

I logged on and answered my PMs, looked through the forums and then I had to go take my mother on a batch of errands - the third of the month is SS check day and therefore grocery shopping day - I spent all day driving her to stores and being outrun by snails as we made our way up and down each aisle until we had to give up with one more store to go, I took her home and went to a photography seminar, I was so tired that I left at the intermission.

On the way home I stopped at a McDonald's and took it home to eat.

I decided to watch the news while I ate so I sat down in my recliner (the evil chair) and started to eat - I had put my cheeseburgers and fries on a plate, I am civilized and I sat down - I didn't have a drink but I decided that I would just go ahead and eat and get my drink as soon as I finished - a bad habit that I got into on a previous job.

That was about 10:15 last night - at 6:20 this morning I woke up with the morning news on the TV and still holding my plate.

I guess I have to admit that Superhuman, Tireless and Energetic may not be the proper adjectives for me right now but I am most definitely human.

So to anyone who thinks that I was ignoring them or just don't care - it isn't true, I just needed the sleep!

I love you all and if I could I would just stay here 24/7 but I am a bit older and I need some sleep every now and then.

Just thought I'd let everybody know that the moderators do care and try to get to everyone as quickly as possible but we are only human and if one of us is sick or asleep or away from their computer for any reason, it puts a bigger load on everyone on line.

We try to get everyone's posts approved as quickly as possible and answer ones that really need help, but when you are alone and 15 members are posting it takes a while so be patient and know that the person who is guarding the gates to keep this site safe for all of us is only human.

Love ya,

Sally

Sally, Sweetheart.......

We're not superhuman...why, I understand that Lizzy even had to use the bathroom yesterday and I actually accidently hurt myself on a file cabinet....Bernii had to put on some sunglasses because it was too bright, Zabrak sniffeled a bit ......

You're right ...we're all human and do our best.

And sometimes we show to be logged in and we're gone....life happens......

But you are so right to let all of the members know how much we all care and do the best that we can...it's this way to keep it safe here!

Thanks for all you do Sally......no wonder you have millions of posts....(well....a bunch, anyway....)

Darn!

I PM'd you at 8:51 and it's 8:53 already ! WHERE ARE YOU!

Sally - mods are asked (not required) to watch posts for appropriateness - you know that. We never even have to write a word to do our volunteer job. It's just that we are almost always the first on the scene, and we see posts early... well.... busybodies as we are - oops there goes 20 minutes for a reply - or an hour - or worse.

So yes, I DID have to use the bathroom yesterday (number two), Donna Jean plowed into a file cabinet and ruined her fishnet stockings, bernii went Hollywood on us for a while (sequined sun glasses I think), Zab hung from the ceiling fan a while looped on sugar... shouting complete scenes from STAR WARS!

Now you want to sleep? Darn it - you are so SELFISH!

Love

Lizzy

This is a family friendly forum. :)

That may have been your shortest post ever - I was expecting so much more. :D

I thought about that when I wrote it - how else can you be sure anyone will read it? ;)

You know I love you or I woudn't tease you, Pol. :)

I don't believe that you are not all superhuman. I think you're just using tiredness, sunglasses, bathrooms and sugar as excuses to hold a meeting in your secret lair. I think I should team up with some of the other teens here and spy on you to make sure you're not plotting against us...

...since everyone knows teens are super villains. XD

"Just human" ... Suuuure... not with those post counts!

Haha! XD no need to apologize for sleeping, we are all humans and thus need sleep to function SUPERhuman abilities 83

P.S: Cheeseburgers are the best D8

Why no, there is no plot, no secret meetings, teens are not vilians - does that cover all of it Dee Jay?

Lizzy only one person can type at a time.

No meetings - I reapeat no meetings, Teens are good, all is well.

Eth, it is easy to tell that you are a writer, such a great imagination and now on to the non superhuman task of paying bills and more grocery shopping - Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!

Love ya,

Sally

<--writes a whole bunch of notes....

.....using bathrooms......being tired.......acknowledging pain......you're all in trouble......what do you people think this is? Your lives or something? (lol)

Kidding aside.

Yes, it is important to not let people think you're just not answering them. Cuz if someone's reaching out you never know how critical it might be. And as a mod the fact is you're more likely to get "flagged down" when people don't know who they can be comfortable with yet or confide in. I do however think that sometimes we forget that sometimes its also priceless to peeps when they get to have the one on one interactions, or just responses to posts, from other members who aren't mods. For myself, remembering when I joined the site, it meant a LOT to have the general membership reply to me. Sometimes even more than a mod. I dunno, mods seemed "scary" for me in a way (kind of like when you're a kid, its way easier to talk to another student than a teacher kind of thing. I didn't realize they were "just members" too lol) so, that being said, maybe having to do all those things with your mom made an unplanned opportunity for two people to talk who otherwise might not have? At least I hope thats the way it went :

Evan, it sounds like your saying that I am not indispensable! :(

I thought that I had to answer everyone !

It is good for the members to interact, I just hate it when I go away and leave myself logged in because I'm coming right back and don't!

I'll try to sign out so people will really know if I'm here or not.

Love ya all,

Sally

Next time I'll just listen to you, April and get some sleep.

Dearest Sally,

It is quite OK to be human!! We all know that you are as we all are!! Maybe not super-human, but definetly an extrodinary human being!!

For what it is worth, what I find to have balance between your life outside of Laura's and your life within Laura's is to spend time away from the computer each day and do something that is specificaly for you!! For me, after work, I spend a few hours playing my guitar. After I feel centered again, I log in to Laura's.

Love

bernii

Hmm. Must have been that pesky 'International' word which made me assume that it was well known! I only became aware of it myself last year.   Brief history: May 17th is the day IDAHOBIT is acknowledged as it is the anniversary of when in 1990 the World Health Organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. It was conceived in 2004 and first celebrated in 2005. It has gone on to include trans folk in 2009 and bi folk in 2015.   International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia - Wikipedia

A year and a half post op. I've noticed that once the urge to pee hits, I can only hold it for about 15 minutes or so until it gets to the point where I feel like I'm going to piss myself. I used to be able to hold it a lot longer (as I  remember it).  I know my urethra is a bit shorter now, but I don't think it is enough to account for this. Am I imagining it?

What a great moment @Vidanjali! It's always so cool knowing people are reading you in a way you want to be seen.

It's also networking.  Sometimes jobs come along because someone knows someone else - these older people might know someone.  "Hey, Ashley," someone might say,"My nephew is looking for love. He likes tall women. Whatcha think? Can he call you?"   Don't discount their ability to match make.  It is about networking.

He is simply doing to get more votes. He held a Trump for trans during his first run and found out the majority of his voters were against us so he simply followed the crowd.

The sad part is I'm the third oldest member. One is in their 60's and the other is past 70's. I'm even older than the president lol. It's a younger crowd that's for sure. I like to come here to feel young again lol.

Ashley, I think searching for relationships are a lot like searching for jobs, they tend to come along when you aren't actually looking.  Perhaps you could step back from actively searching, at least for a little while, and instead, concentrate on just being out and about as yourself.  Like Mae and Abby have already mentioned, just keep up your volunteering, but don't focus on a need to find someone.  Maybe, just maybe, changing your tactics will result in someone finding you.    I do wish only the best for you, and I hope someone comes along who connects with you.

First off, you can't regret being honest. You may not be changing the relationship, but it sounds like it still exists!   As for meeting people, what about through the volunteering you're doing? Maybe you can do more of that and meet people. Let some relationships grow and if they blossom into something more than friendship, great! If not, you've got more friends!

Hi Giz, welcome. There's so many different ways to be trans and you're so welcome here. I wish you luck in achieving your goal of being more androgynous. There's forums in here that might suit you and your goals. I look forward to hearing more from you. I go by he/they pronouns at the mo.

Hello @JenniferB!  Was kind of in the same boat with this.  I spent massive amounts of energy over several decades to try to control my drinking and drug use.  Because I'm highly disciplined, I was ultimately successful.  I felt I could have gone on with controlled drinking for the rest of my life without problems, but it got to the point where I realized that it wasn't worth all the energy I was putting into it.  At that point I found surrender.  I got a sponsor, attended almost daily meetings for a year, worked the steps to the best of my ability, tried my best to socialize with people even though I am an introvert, I made a mess for myself at the meetings and felt a little rejected.  And then I continued on doing a little service work.   After a few months away from it, I'm in a good spot.  I accidentally ate one of my roommates edibles a couple months ago.  I have only smoked a half ounce of weed in the last 20 years.  After it kicked in, I realized that it was a marijuana high.  Then I noticed something miraculous.  I just told myself that there is nothing I can do about it and then got on with the business of the evening like I normally would.  It was like the high just ended right then and there.   Controlled drinking like I was doing was just very risky behavior and not worth the effort for me.  In any case, I'm very happy that I spent my life fighting it all instead of just giving into it.  I think that whatever you put into something, you eventually get back out.   Meetings are cool.  People generally get equal time to share.  Seeing people who are struggling reminds me of the way I was and why I want to remain sober.  And by being there, I have the potential of helping someone else.  The stuff I don't identify with I just do my best to not let bother me.  And if it gets bad there, I don't have to go back.  I can find another meeting or even just read the literature.  The literature helped me a lot.

Happiness to me is when I reached a turning point in my life, that I stop worrying what others think about me, and start living my life.
