Just got my hair cut....

First off, she didn't even do what I wanted.

Second....The other lady in there was talking to my dad about free ice cream coupons and she asked if my dad wanted one...Then he said no he already ate one. Then she goes and says "Fine...I'll just give one to your........Daughter? Sorry, I just can't quite make you out."

Third.. I don't know...

Maybe because I'm not use to it or whatever...But...

Grrrrr.

I don't know if I'll post pics....

*shameeeee* <_<

I'm so sorry, sounds like a bad time.

But the good news - no matter how bad the haircut - it will grow back.

Like everything else about transitioning, it just takes patience.

Maybe we should carve that over the door to the Member's Lounge.

Love ya,

Sally

Aw man, that does sound bad. <:c a lot of the times, it takes a week or a few days to 'settle' or after you wash it, it looks nice. At least, that's how long mine takes. Maybe if you use gel or something, or blow it dry it might look cooler. I'm sure it's not as bad as you think, though!! It's gotta be okay. Next time a person screws up your hair though, be very clear and tell them "THIS IS NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR!" but in a kinda calm, firm way. They have to learn sometime or the other. (and might give you a free touch-up).

Rude ice-cream lady sounds RUDE <_< She should have said "give one to... you" if she was confused, it's rude to question gender no matter who someone is.

Yeah, yeah, I know.

Funny thing is I had a feeling she wasn't very nice....

Anyways.

I played around with it a little, and I guess it's not as bad as I originally thought.

It's actually okay, I guess.

But it makes me look like a nerd.

>.<

I'll post something later.

Oh gosh, i hate when hair dressers don't listen! I had that same problem yesterday. I went in to get my roots fixed, the lady didn't even get all my roots done and turned the black part of my hair in the front this weird purple brown color. Then charged me $95. THAT IS REDONKULOUS! (I got someone else to fix it, so it looks good now. BUT STILL!)

That really sounds like it sucks. But play around with it some, maybe you can make it work?

When I read the first post, I was expecting some horrible haircut, but I actually think it looks pretty good. And that lady who couldn't tell your gender... was she blind? You look CLEARLY male to me!

It took me like three haircuts until I got the awesome one I have now. :P First I still looked like a girl. Then I looked like a nerd. Then I looked handsome and shaggy. You look pretty shaggy, too, in a good way. Of course, I have a soft spot for shaggy. Oh, and by the way, your glasses kick butt.

So you got stuck with a blatant conformist. That obviously (at least to me) is what she was; "not so subtly" trying to push you into the gender box verbally that she felt "you ought to get to gettin used to". <_<

I got a <_< snitty feelin her conversin with your father didn't help makin her feel "daunted" either.

Still and all, if there are "details" to the cut that you think you could amend and by so doing make it more to your liking you could always do that. Sometimes its one or two strands keeping someone from liking a thing.

i have 2 things to say.

1. what that lady said was rude, but at least you aren't coming off as female. that's a plus.

2. at first i wasn't digging the hair (a bit long still, i think) but in the last pic with the glasses on, you look down right cute/hot/attractive...whichever word you like best. just know that it's cute not in the puppy way, but in the more adult way....if you know what i mean......

do i sound a bit creepy...? lol....yeah. sorry. you get it. you look good.

oh, and it does play up the more masculine aspects of your face (again, i have to say, you have a very nice handsome face)...

i swear i'm not trying to flirt...

geez...i do sound weird today....

peace&love

I agree, you definitly look male; the lady must've consumed copious amounts of illicit substances at some point prior.

Man, you consider that short? xD Man this brings me back in the day when I Still had long-ish hair. I had it starting to go down my neck and I thought that was short. (1st grade) Then before I shaved my head in like 07-08 I had bangs barely above my eyes and it was really thick and yucky and I considered that to be long. (I was going for a more regular teenage look.)

https://www.hrw.org/news/2024/05/15/peru-chooses-bigotry-medical-services     The Health Ministry tried to put the best face on this unscientific gibberish of a decree, but it won't diminish the harm it will do to the Pervian trans community.  They undoubtedly already suffer from severe discrimination and bigotry in a very macho-opriented society.   Carolyn Marie

I'd never heard of it until reading this.  From the thread title I thought it had something to do with the state of Idaho.  But perhaps combined with something about Hobbits, which seemed odd.  My brain goes in weird directions.

I had my surgery 11 years ago, and yes, I too find it much more of an urgent thing than it ever was before.  One possible culprit is going to be T blockers if you are still on them, also the urethral sphincter which holds the pee back is closer to the urethral opening now and more subject to stimulation. When we gotta go we gotta goooooo!!

I notice that the Wikipedia article does not mention the U.S.A. which I can understand a bit.  The entire month of June here is Pride Month for all the organizations and is tied to the 1969 Stonewall Inn riots in New York and also our medical authorities are also not tied as thoroughly to the WHO as they are to the American Psychological and American Psychiatric Associations which write the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health which is generally in line with the WHO which does not play as big a part in our medical practices here.  The WHO does not impact us the way it does the other world countries which is why we are in the dark about the day.  Ironically though, one of the U.S. States is named Idaho which sadly is one of the most conservative and frustrating to the U.S. LGBTQ Community.   The day is international though in the sense of other European and Southern Hemisphere countries it seems.
    • Mirrabooka
Hmm. Must have been that pesky 'International' word which made me assume that it was well known! I only became aware of it myself last year.   Brief history: May 17th is the day IDAHOBIT is acknowledged as it is the anniversary of when in 1990 the World Health Organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. It was conceived in 2004 and first celebrated in 2005. It has gone on to include trans folk in 2009 and bi folk in 2015.   International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia - Wikipedia

A year and a half post op. I've noticed that once the urge to pee hits, I can only hold it for about 15 minutes or so until it gets to the point where I feel like I'm going to piss myself. I used to be able to hold it a lot longer (as I  remember it).  I know my urethra is a bit shorter now, but I don't think it is enough to account for this. Am I imagining it?

What a great moment @Vidanjali! It's always so cool knowing people are reading you in a way you want to be seen.

It's also networking.  Sometimes jobs come along because someone knows someone else - these older people might know someone.  "Hey, Ashley," someone might say,"My nephew is looking for love. He likes tall women. Whatcha think? Can he call you?"   Don't discount their ability to match make.  It is about networking.

He is simply doing to get more votes. He held a Trump for trans during his first run and found out the majority of his voters were against us so he simply followed the crowd.

The sad part is I'm the third oldest member. One is in their 60's and the other is past 70's. I'm even older than the president lol. It's a younger crowd that's for sure. I like to come here to feel young again lol.
    • Sally Stone
Ashley, I think searching for relationships are a lot like searching for jobs, they tend to come along when you aren't actually looking.  Perhaps you could step back from actively searching, at least for a little while, and instead, concentrate on just being out and about as yourself.  Like Mae and Abby have already mentioned, just keep up your volunteering, but don't focus on a need to find someone.  Maybe, just maybe, changing your tactics will result in someone finding you.    I do wish only the best for you, and I hope someone comes along who connects with you.
