Hi all, I'm Rey , 54 years old  and i have had gender dysphoria since around age 5. I was raised in a Catholic household and attended Catholic schools through high school and had constant shame and guilt about myself for a long time. I did the usual activities.Binge and purges of makeup ,clothes and wigs. Deny to everybody my gender issues. Join the military. Still wanting to go the route of transitioning with hormones and FFS but unable to due to resources and military ( under don't ask don't tell and discharge for transgender at the time.Surely would have lost security clearance.) Married, had a chld , divoced and finally took a Paramedic course of study and began HRT (Premarin and Spiro at the time- -what the heck-!!!!!?!?!?)

Stopped transition after difficulties on job and with extended family and custody. Remarried to the love of my life who knew i was on hormones etc but had an irresponsible psych doctor say i was bipolar and wasn't really transgender.

So three kids later with constant repressing and denying my true self-three amazing and wonderful kids and a wife iadore I finally disclosed tha i've been feeling all along.

WE ran the gamut of emotions-especially my poor wife. Hurt, angry, feeling lied to etc. It has been a difficult couple months but here we are, still ogether, some fear of the future but we are going to go through the local Genderservices at a nearby hospital and i have a fantastic, understanding, compassionate Primary care providr whoi spoke to about HRT and meds in past and her referred me to gender clinic endocrinologist but when he found out i had to wait until March 2021 for his outstanding , highly regarded endo, he offered to put me on HRT. Having been a paramdic and with my wife an ER Nurse, he was also comfortable to prescribe injections over pills.

I didn' t want to be running around with estradiol in my mouth melting and dealing with 6,13 and 15 year olds.LOL. Anywhere, here i go. Started anti-androgens yesterday and will start injection weekly of estradiol Saturday.

I hope to meet many new friends here!

Welcome to TransPulseForums @ReyArrivesL8

You're among like minded and experienced people here. It's good to hear that you're out to your wife, and she's willing to support you as you transition. Thank you for your service and you'll find there's a bunch of Veterans here as well as a military service VA specific section.

Hugs, (masked)

Congratulations Rey on the recent turn of events and starting down the path of transition. We share many similar experiences and had a very similar past. Many of us do. I’m still always surprised when I start reading an intro that sounds so familiar to me. So many of us here have a common theme that brings us here together to share a part of our lives that most don’t even want to know about. You’ll soon see that we’re all here for you, routing for you and would enjoy any opportunity of friendship should you want that. Thank you for reaching out today. Enjoy the upcoming changes and my best to you!

Warmest Regards,

Susan R?

Welcome to Trans Pulse, Rey.  Hmmm, I was wondering if you are a Star Wars devotee, given the name.  Anyway, congrats on starting your journey to womanhood!  I hope that your wife does come around to full support, but often it does take some time.  My own wife took about a year before she was really OK with it.  Please let us know how we can help out.  We'll be here to answer all your questions.

Oh, another comment.   I am a conservative evangelical with strong Republican leanings. So is my wife, my friends, my family. I disagree with a good amount of what the Republicans are doing, but there it is.  I understand the mindset, I think, a lot better than those who are outside it do.   When you insult Republicans you insult me, my friends, my family.   People like me can struggle with trans issues.   Please consider that in posting.

      Then you are in despair.

I found this as well. No playacting, they just appear: the finger waggle wave; bracing my elbow on my other arm that's folded across my chest, wrist in the air half-cocked; walking a bit more fiercely... All that. My wife thought I was mocking her at one point!

I find my lack of time to read the thing frustrating, and I will not really comment until I have read it.  This is a wholly inadequate response.   1.  I think there are some legitimate concern.   2. Thoroughly discussing this will consume many threads.   3. I disagree partially with @MaeBe but there is partial agreement.   4. The context includes what is happening in society that the authors are observing.  It is not an isolated document.   5. Trump, if elected, is as likely to spend his energies going after political opponents as he is to implementing something like this.    6. I reject critical theory, which is based on Marxism.  Marxism has never worked and never will.  Critical theory has problems which would need time to go into, which I do not have.   7. There are groups who have declared war on the nuclear family as problematically patriarchal, and a lot of other terms. They are easy to find on the internet.  This document is reacting to that (see #4 above).   8.  Much of this would have to be legislated, and this is a policy documented.  Implementation would  be most likely different, but that does not mean criticism is unwarranted.

Sort of bracing myself for flipping, because I am wearing f and of course I wear f and it is natural to wear f and what else would I wear?  The  novelty is long gone out on this.  I wore a bra most of yesterday but we had a Zoom call and I took the bra off because I was concerned about the straps showing.  I missed it.    My body is saying "I am female!  Treat me that way!"   In the past it has screamed about this activity that  I have done to it.

This is what I'm scared of.  And it's quite possible. Apparently Chicken Little was right.

Whether it was a hate crime or not, it's still horrible.

Finally I  am back online   I had to use the help of the contact form (not proud  of that, I always feel embarrassed and shy about contacting people), but here I am   missed all of you

I'm not happy to admit this, but I usually scream or break things.   Breaking things became a bit of a no no, because It was always a cd or something I liked and it got very expensive to replace stuff

Probably amusement parks. I've never been to one sadly, but I think I could talk for an hour about them without any problem

The name "Mississippi" comes from the Anishinabe tribe of Native Americans; the word means "Father of Waters."

frustration:  the frustration of creative instinct is a notorious evil of the machine age : the state or an instance of being frustrated. : a deep chronic sense or state of insecurity and dissatisfaction arising from unresolved problems or unfulfilled needs
