Looking back, I wish that I would have....

In the short time that I have been reading this forum, I have come to realize how much many of us have in common.  However, I thought it would be fun to hear of some of the things that you would love to do, be able to do, or even go back and do differently.  I don't necessarily mean this to be the serious subjects that are often discussed here, but rather at some of the more unique things about you that you wish that you would have done differently.

 

I'll start.  I absolutely love to dance.  However, I am the single most uncoordinated human being on the face of the earth.  I wish that when I was young that I would have taken some sort of dance or gymnastics lessons so I wouldn't be so much like a fish out of water on the dance floor.  

 

What about you?  If you could go back in time, what is something that you would have done differently?

This is an interesting topic!

As a transgender woman, I wish I had the freedom to explore and express my true gender at a younger age, rather than hiding it as I did. Sadly, the environments I lived in at the time were just not conducive or even safe to do that. Thinking more broadly though, I wish I would have studied a foreign language at an earlier age and stuck with it. I had many Spanish and French classes through high school and college but I never became anything close to fluent. I feel like I've forgotten most of it over the years.

I would have liked to be around to learn my Grandmother's canning and jarring methods. She had a farm with the sweetest blackberries I have ever tasted. She made jars and jars of jelly. What I wouldn't give to have just one more. She was hard as a brick in some ways but soft as a kitten to the ones she loved. I was so young that I didn't get to even ask her to share her recipes before the chance had passed. I also wish I had learned sowing and crafting much better. It's one thing to mend a hole but, I would have liked to make quilts and custom clothing too.

Abi I was lucky enough to learn a little about baking and cooking from my grandmother before she passed.  I have never found any blackberry jam that comes close to hers.  I picked up sewing from her also.  I would have loved to have my kids earlier for many reason but she is one of the biggest.  I always wanted kids early on in life.  I ended up having to settle or fostering kids for several years to help that desire.  Having the two I have now would have been soo much better at a younger age

Get a psychology BS degree. Can still technically get one, but feel it would have been wiser to get it while studying art, then would have had 2 degrees. Could have done art therapy... oh well. Other degrees of interest were real estate and accounting. Everybody should know accounting... But school is expensive so I went with a degree I couldn't fail while I could get a job.

On one side, realized who I truly am a girl. I may have been to much of a chicken shite to do anything about it. But you never know.

 

On the other side. I wish I would have never sold my muscle cars I had when I was younger. Would be worth a fortune today.  Even my first car was a one of one.
