Get fake nails, they said it would be fun.

It has been fun, till you pop of two nails in one week. One hurt, and the other I'm not sure when it came off, but it was gone when I was getting ready for work. 

 

It's all OK though. I knew I needed to get a new set. As mine are four months old, and I'm getting a set tomorrow any way. My nail lady won't be so happy though.

I'm looking forward to having my nails done professionally.  I've been practicing with gels at home with poor to acceptable results.  Not sure I could live with nail extensions since I do a lot of things that would break them off.  My natural nail suffer enough as it is.

Are these the Press-On type nails your referencing? I used to use those back in the 1980’s and they only had a half dozen color choices. Now they have every color known to womankind. Back in the day, if I was out for any length of time, I undoubtedly had one pop off. They never stuck back on as well after coming off the first time so I always carried extra adhesive in my purse. I wonder if the adhesive has improved since then. @Red_Lauren.Do you wear them everyday? How common is it for them to pop off for you now assuming this last week was an anomaly?

I didn't start with tips, and still don't have them. grew out my nails over the last four months. So when I would go in for a fill. My nails would get longer, but now I'll need tips. At least on the two I popped off. To keep them even with my current length. 

 

I also work with my hands alot, and I would say my current nails are almost 1/4 past the tip. I haven't had really any issues with breaks other then when I had no support under them.

Mine are the acrylic ones. The ones woman have to pay to get done. I could never get press on ones to stay on. Them popping off is rare, but considering how old mine are. Its not surprising.

One of my major pastimes is building things out of LEGO.  Tearing it apart is disastrous for nails.

You surely got some good use from them...acrylic or otherwise. I needed to have mine redone every 3-4 weeks. When I was playing racquetball regularly, I lost a nail every couple of weeks and had to get a replacement. One time, I ripped off my pointer acrylic nail and half my nail underneath when my nail was caught in the locker latch. Now that the gyms are closed they stay on until next time to get done. Currently, my nails are bare for the first time in 16 months.

When I popped of my nail last week it hurt, but I didn't take my nail with it. I could never get 3/4 weeks out of a set. Before I need to get a fill. In my picture below. That is after two weeks since me last fill. 

 

LaurenA, I work with gloves on, and deal with a lot of things. I'm suprised how well my nails have held up. 

 

Now that I'm going in to nails as a career next year. I'm going to have to be more on top of them, but it won't be as bad. As I will be able to do them my self.
