I am still so much happier and confident.  I do not regret my decision at all.  This is hands down what I have been looking forward to and feeling better

I have a confession to make. I  really wish you the best as you successfully complete your surgery but I haven't been adding comments to this thread until last night because I felt jealous and have some inner resentment as I do for Susan R and I confessed there as well.

I have told my therapist as much as I am happy for both of you - I couldn't read the comments in those two threads - it hurt too much. BUT - this time as I told my current therapist who is the best I've ever worked with - I am determined to remove all those things that I've repressed or blocked or AVOIDED. She teaches the Acceptance Commitment Therapy format - in which you don't try to get rid of pain - the more you try to avoid it - the mosre it is enhanced. You need to face your pain, recognize it, and not let it dominate you but rather live with it and give it room to JUST BE THERE and again not dominate you. I decided that I need to stop AVOIDANCE and FACE MY FEAR.

And so I am here - to say - thank you Aurora - you are helping me more than you know and I wish you so much joy in your  completion surgery as I know full well you've worked so hard over the years and been to hell and back. And I hope you will be there for me when I can finally meet my goal. I am 9+ months on HRT, have therapists and medical HRT person ready to write letters and a surgeon I have been working with and hope I can complete before year's end.

I will read these comments going forward to defuse my fears. Thank You for hanging in there for me.

I was in your shoes and feeling jealous from others getting their surgery and feeling like I will never get mine.  I am 3yr 5mo on hormones and this is the only surgery I have had so far

Good morning  Aurora,

Have a great day.

Today is the day that the nurses will get me up out of bed.  The extra weight on me being 238 has helped recovery with keeping my strength up.  I have very little pain.  My pain scale went up to a max 5.  I am eating normal, not having any nausea or vomiting.  I am doing good and average for after surgery.

@AuroraCongrats! I did my actual vaginoplasty out patient so I didn’t stay in the hospital, which was nice! I am a Nurse, I also had my best friends (one is a nurse and an MD) with me at the hotel while I recovered, plus Dr DeLeon and Teresa from Crane Center kept an eye on me.

I am going to be at the Crane Center on April 26th at 12 pm for my pre-op and surgery at Westlake the 27th for my revision. I developed an unfortunate ring scar contracture which has made dilating painful and near impossible for the past few months. So having that dealt with finally so I can get back to normal.

So thankful you’re healing well!

Hello

April 26th at 12pm noon is my first post-op with Dr. DeLeon to remove my packing and pee bag with everything.  Hope we can run into each other on the 26th.

Dr. DeLeon is so wonderful, she has been checking in on me.  Today on Friday when she came to check on me, I was standing up out of bed which is a good sign with how I want to walk

Hope I can meet up on Monday 26th

Yeah.  I am so happy to get my bottom area corrected and I am looking forward to getting my 4 new best friends.  I told Dr. DeLeon that they are my best friends and she laughed and is going to start calling them that.

I get sprung out of the hospital today.  I am following Dr. DeLeon recommendation on walking.

@Aurora It sounds like Kylie and Dr. DeLeon have helped so much and that must bring you tears of joy. Congratulations on being released from the hospital today and can't wait to hear about your new body walking and the joy I'm sure it will bring (any pain is secondary).

So today Saturday, I had my first BM.  3 days after surgery and I had a sensation that I needed to go.  So I tried sitting on the toilet nice and easy which felt weird with a catheter a bandages.  But sure enough, it just flowed out.  Came out natural and was runny.  Did not hurt.  I just listened to my body and it needed to go so I went.  Looks like I don't need stool softener after all since my body wants to go.

I had an issue like that many moons ago after a surgery (not the surgery I want to have but same area) and that small victory is so important. Congratulations @Aurora you are doing great.

@Aurora Congratulations on the surgery and recovery. Sending my thoughts and prayers for your continued recovery.  May all of your dreams come true.

Just have to say that I am doing really good on my recovery.  I just had my first BM after surgery and all I did was just listen to my body when I was having the sensation on wanting to go.  So I just went and sat down and it flowed out of me with no pain.  It came out runny, but I can say that I had a BM with no pain.

I had to get more feminine pads  and all I have to say is WTH.  They are so expensive for something that both CIS and Trans women need for feminine hygiene.  I am told that I will experience some bleeding still which I do and the pads are there to help me out.  Why something that our bodies normally go through have to pay expensive prices to keep us clean.

Following doctor's orders with my recovery and taking my meds and eating and walking has been helping my recovery.

Going nice and slow and easy.

Behold the girl tax! The patriarchy sucks. If men needed them, there'd be someone who delivered them warm to your door.

Congrats on your surgery, Aurora. It sounds like things are going very well and I hope for your continued recovery to go just as smoothly.

Best Wishes,

So my new hurdle that I am worried about is the ability to go to the bathroom on my own once the catheter comes out.  Also being able to hold it when I need to as well.  For right now I am used to peeing in my bag and just emptying my bag.  After Monday, I am going to have to learn how to hold when I need to hold and when I can go and just pee.  This is what is making me worry right now

You will do just fine. Many of you sisters here know what you are going through and will remember their time going this and they also know it is something they worried about but also came through. Someday when I go through remember to remind me that it really wasn't as bad as you thought it would be.

That part was actually pretty easy. You're going to need to figure out how to not make a mess when you go for a while, but bladder control? Piece of cake. No wait, that would be a urinal cake. None of that. Easy as pie?

Hugs!

Oooooooooooooooops, I forgot yesterday.   I was thinking of a few bands who had a member invited who said no and went right into obscurity or left before the band got big.   1) Led Zeppelin -  origially wanted Terry Reid to be lead vocalist and he decided the stay solo. 2) Crosby, Stills & Nash - invited John Sebastian to join before Neil Young, Sebastian said no. 3) Signe Anderson quit as lead vocalist with Jefferson Airplane and they replaced her with Grace Slick.

Good morning, everyone! We're back from a short vacation with friends to the mountains of NC. It was a fun time driving the twisty mountain roads.   Now it's back to reality of cutting grass, washing windows and putting in screens and putting out the porch furniture. Coming home to warmer weather than when we left is glorious.   Happy Anniversary @Willow!    I hope your family is feeling better @KymmieL - my wife and I shared a stomach virus several weeks ago that was horrid.   Hang in there @Birdie, it will all work out!!   Have a wonderful day, everyone!

I think many Christians end up with a false dichotomy.  If we didn't choose to be how we are, then something in our environment did it. Is going along with it a sin?  Maybe.  But if so, its one of those times where we mess something up no matter what we do.  Part of the imperfect nature of this fallen world is that there are times where we'll sin no matter what we do.  In a no-win scenario like that, we do the wisest thing possible with our free will.

This is the crux of my anguish these many, many months (years!) and where I go back-and-forth with my own journey ... I was born a biological male. No denying that in my case. But I have a lot of internal feminine leanings and external ones, too. I prefer to wear women's clothes 100 percent of the time (if I could). I wish I had the female plumbing. I long for that badly sometimes. I don't know why or where that came from but no denying that either. I have started HRT because I like the idea of having a more feminine physical body and some of the "perks" that go with that. I just asked my doc to up my dose to the next level today!   So the big question I ask myself is: am I knowingly disobeying God, who likes order and made humans male and female, by taking these steps? This is my wife's take on things. "You are sinning. You know God made you a male biologically. Yet you are willfully pursuing transition to being something God didn't intend you to be regardless of what you feel inside, what your preferences are, etc."  I keep trying to tell her it's much more complex than that but sometimes I don't even know what I think...   This ties up in knots and makes me angry and makes me feel stuck!!! I don't want to disobey my Creator and Savior and yet I have this strong, strong leaning toward the feminine in many ways (that keeps getting stronger and refuses to go away no matter how much I have tried to stuff it away!!) ... It feels like misery no matter which path I take - if I "give in" to the feminine, which I have been doing a lot the past 12 months or so, am I endangering my soul? Am I creating scandal? Yet the thought of putting the feminine aside feels, at times, like death too (or is it just me being self-centered and unwilling to bend the knee to my Creator who would ask me to give this up as a testament to my love for him...   I don't know. I don't know. I don't know!! But sometimes I really really F***ing hate this quandary...

We use a ton of Harbor Freight stuff here.  They have pretty good warranty, too, I guess.  GF beats all heck out of sockets and things, and if she takes them back they get replaced for free.  Harbor Freight was junk 20 years ago, but its really good now.  Craftsman used to be good 20 years ago, but now its junk (but they still want to charge made-in-the-usa prices).  Dewalt is now Chinese also, when it used to be made in Germany.  Older Dewalt tools are good, but GF got a really bad hand injury a few years ago from a Chinese Dewalt drill bit that shattered.  Some of the name brands just aren't what they used to be.

Honestly, all the numbers are monkey math.  Doesn't matter who's in charge.  Trump kept crowing about the damn stock market, which didn't make a difference to normal people.  All the "job creation" is an illusion.  They consider it job creation when they take good full time jobs, and split them in half to "make" two part-time or temp jobs.  Not totally a Biden problem, as this has been going on for decades now.  Things *began* to get better under Trump.  A bit.  Maybe 8 years would have been better, but it wouldn't have fixed it.  Too much damage.    To me, Trump is a case of "too little, too late."  In my opinion, we need more - a true nationalist, with an aggressive and isolationist foreign policy.  And we needed him 50 years ago.  I want to see:   High import tariffs, a currency backed by precious metals, no more "climate" stuff and repudiation of all "accords" or other agreements, elimination of excess government agencies like the FBI and EPA, and total seizure of foreign-owned assets on US soil - with sale and disbursement of profits to our citizens.  And that would be a basic start.  Instead of "sanctions" to interrupt the trade of nations we don't like, Congress should instead issue letters-of-marque as described in the Constitution.  I'd like to see an alliance with Russia, and an end to nearly a century of useless conflict.    Trump won't do any of those things.  He's a sad, pale imitation of the leaders that founded our nation.

Well I got some terrible news today. My therapist is a doctoral intern at the VA. Her internship is ending the end of July. Normally interns just continue with the VA after their degree is done. However, VA has a hiring freeze on. So, I am going to loose one of the best therapists I have ever had. One that actually cares about me. I do have a few months till she leaves, Thankfully.   Other than that. my wife and youngest are both sick. Don't know if they got it worse that I had on Thurs/Friday. Or I am destine to get it too.   I've got tools that range from cheapy flea market stuff all the way up to high grade, Mac and Snap-on. Most have lasted me for quite a long time. I am diligently trying to keep my happy arse out or the Snap-on truck when he comes every Thurs. So far, I have resisted. But the temptation is there.   Kymmie
