So my new hurdle that I am worried about is the ability to go to the bathroom on my own once the catheter comes out.  Also being able to hold it when I need to as well.  For right now I am used to peeing in my bag and just emptying my bag.  After Monday, I am going to have to learn how to hold when I need to hold and when I can go and just pee.  This is what is making me worry right now

You will find it is totally natural.  The only functional difference in your plumbing is that that muscle that you used to use to squeeze out the last few drops doesn't work any more.  On the other hand, you no longer have a garden hose to drain either.

They only had me connected to a bag for the first two days.  After that, I sill had the catheter, but they replaced the bag with a valve.  That way, I still had the protection of the catheter, but I didn't have to drag the bag around with me when I went for a walk.

That sounds lovely. I so hated that bag by the end of the week...

The valve was definitely more convenient.  You only forget to close it once.  (Don't ask me how I know that.)

@Jackie C. you know it's not a good thing to get @Aurora laughing with comments like urinal cake. Busting a stretch is not a good thing at this juncture. Just saying.

Hey all:

Saw my doctor today on my first post-op.  I got my 4 new best friends.  The catheter is removed and I got to see my new bottom area and I was so happy and smiling.  I could not stop myself from smiling and even had trouble talking.

I was able to pee with no issues and my pee just ran to the back and down cause it ran down my butt.

My area looks alot better than what I was expecting.  The dilation was no issues for my first one.

I am still happy

Wonderful! I’m pretty sure we were in the office at the same time.  But Dr DeLeon was busy examining me and prepping me for my revision tomorrow morning. Glad it all went well! I remember when I first saw her after surgery with the dressings removed; I passed out in the table! I was so overwhelmed.

Keep up the optimism! I’ll be in Austin until Friday, then I’m back to N.C.!

I think that I almost passed out with all the excitement and happiness.  I was at the point where I really could not talk.

Out of surgery and eating lunch.  Sore but controlling it with pain meds.  A little bit of normal swelling.  I am loving the fact that I have vigina.

Exciting I'm sure

@Aurora checking in, hope you’re doing well!

Hello there.  Been going pretty good.  Resting and walking.  Been following my dilation schedule.  Dilating is pretty easy for me and I am finding it very therapeutic.  I have no pain at all when I dilate.  I don't know why people say it's painful.  My pain scale is alot higher and this is not painful but rather enjoyable.  Monday May 3rd is my 2nd post-op appointment

@Aurora that is great news! I ran into some pretty painful and exhausting dilating over the course of the past 5 months, mostly due to hypergranulation but then subsequently terrible scar tissue formation. Each time I dilated it felt like I was tearing everything. But now that I’ve had my revision, dilation is so easy and no pain! Which is a blessing. Once your nerves start to wake up though you will definitely feel more of the dilation, but that doesn’t mean it is bad at all

@Aurora that is wonderful news and I've heard so many ladies have issues early on dilating and to find yours is therapeutic gives me hope that some day I might be as lucky

Hey there.  So I am trying to stay calm and just let my body go at it's normal pace, but I cannot wait till I get to move from the purple to the blue dilator.  I think some of my nerves are starting to reconnect as for myself all around my vigina, I am feeling needles poking me all over.  I have tried to open my libia to look at my clitoris and when I touched my clitoris, I got really turned on and felt like a teenage girl and so wanted to be pentrated.  I am just resting and going for my walks like how Fr. DeLeon wants.  For my 3 times a day dilating, I have been doing them in the morning around 8am and then around lunch around 12:30p or 1p and then evening around 6p or 6:30p.  So far I have even snuck a 4th dilation in as well later on into the evening around 9p.

Been following Dr. DeLeon's process and everything.

I cannot believe how well this surgery has helped me out with my dysphoria and how well I have been feeling.  My dysphoria has been going away now that I have had this surgery

Oh wow. Yes, listen to your body about dilators. It takes time, continue on your healing journey and don’t rush ♥️

Saw my doctor today on my 2nd post-op follow-up. The swelling has gone down a little more but still has a long ways to go, like months as my doctor has said. She likes how I have been out walking more and loved hearing how I recently hit 8000 steps.
My doctor loves how I am healing and I am feeling. Likes how I know my limitations with being able to walk stairs but I take them slow right now. Not ready to run the stairs. Likes how I don't have any pain and the only time I take my pain meds is when I am about ready to dilate and it's for a just in case. Otherwise, I am doing good and I am feeling good. Doctor likes what she is seeing

It is wonderful to hear how you are doing, I remember your anxiety from when you first were here that it would never happen, and now it has.  You are doing better than I was at that stage.  You are YOU, keep it going!!

@Aurora It seems you have been blessed with an easier go then most and I am very happy for you. You give me something to look forward to and hope my surgery will go as well when I am given the green light.

CONGRATULATIONS - I hope things are going better with your mom. She has an incredible daughter.

Hugs,

I read about her this morning. What a shame! She was beautiful and it seems she had a strong support system in place and could have had a wonderful life all to have it end like this. Such a waste. I truly hope the monster that killed her gets everything he deserves.

I am so glad you enjoy them as well. The help things “stay put” so well. It got me through some of my most dysphoric times.   Wow, I hadn’t heard this at last week’s Zoom meeting if you had mentioned it. That is a huge milestone April Marie.I have no doubt that this confidence will only grow in time. The freedom of being yourself, especially in public, is a wonderful feeling. I am truly happy for you.😘   *Big Congratulatory Hug* Susan R🌷

@Abigail Genevieve, that is not an appropriate question, IMO.  This isn't the Army/McCarthy hearings.   Carolyn Marie

Don't think Americans would go for the "compulsory" part. We kind of like not being told what to do ... Amazingly, there is great pushback on voter ID laws. The opponents say it discourages voting, especially among the poor and minorities. That is really a smokescreen IMO for those who want to harvest ballots from as many places as possible, including folks who don't exist or don't hold citizenship...

Pretty soon I think I might be ready to talk about gender-affirming care for kids, possibly w/r/t the Cass Review and its shortcomings.

She was a beautiful young woman ...   "What we do know is that the offender was a very violent individual and should not have been on our streets.”  Whether gender related or not, the mental health and incarceration issues in our country are incredibly bad and need to be addressed.

April,   I'm glad my entries are interesting to you.  TransCentralPA is a great organization with so many caring people.  I would strongly recommend you find a way to attend the Keystone Conference.  I guarantee you'll find it an amazing experience.     Hugs,   Sally

Dear @Sally Stone.  I think you should author a memoir based on these posts (maybe you're already working towards that?).  You could decide at a later time if/when you might want to publish.   I appreciate you sharing your deep connection with your friend Willa (and I am sorry for your loss) and the benefit of having a Trans friend and mentor in our Life and Journey.  I was fortunate to have found one also in our TGP friend @Kasumi63.   As you know we share many common Life themes in our stories.  Drop me a PM if you'd like to chat about it.  Looking forward to the next 'chapter'.

Voting is compulsory here, for better or worse. Would doing the same in the US snap people out of their apathy?

I am noting you use CRT terminology.  The comment is not out of the blue.  Some of your remarks on religion suggest atheism.  So it is believable that you are a Marxist, knowingly or not.  Are you?
