The Broken Trail

Many have walked it

many are on it still

that trail of transition

the hardest of all

It seems as we start

there are those we must tell

of our problem long buried

it seldom goes well

It's all been a lie

I'm not lesbian

how many others we've heard

as the trail we began

through the breakups

the tears, accusations, and more

once out in the open

there's no way but forward

some relationships break

others are strained

some are strengthened

new ones are made

no matter how long

or how short your time here

in the darkest of hours

look around you

there are others around

this trail is their's too

some further along

some not as far as you

those ahead on the trail

they know of the pain

they can help you

like you can help others

in many cases

sadly it seems

we are all each other has

who understand the pain

Don't be afraid

to yell HELP

to reach out

there will be one there

to grab hold and help out

Society cares not

of us or our pain

forward as one

Lets learn to live again

One day they may learn

just how hard we fight

for basic dignity

that they think is a right

continue our journey

to fix nature's mistake

to match outside and in

for sanity's sake

before a saga I write

I'll just say I love you

all those here who help

and are helped by us all
