I have thought about that but I do want to be out at school and I don't want to pretend to be someone else anymore...

I understand.    I hope it goes okay for you.

Okay I'm at school now it's my first day and I've already introduced myself as Benji to one of my classes and one of my teachers... so now I have 7 more... everyone seemed to get it it was honestly a lot easier then I thought it would be but I'm still nervous as hell... but it's going well so far...

Way to go Benji!  I'm glad to hear things are going well so far.  I remember how hard it was to step out into the world.  Fortunately most folks were great and i've learned to do my best to not dwell on the small negative reactions.  That focussing on the positive has made transition so much easier!

Enjoy your journey and the new school year!

Hugs,

Of course now that I'm in my next class I don't think I'm going to get am opportunity to tell this teacher and she already took attendance and used my deadname... I'll have to email her later hopefully I'll have better luck with my next classes...

I ended up coming out to 2 of my teachers out of 4 today... I'll have to email the teachers I don't come out to in person and I still have 4 other classes tomorrow.... school is kind of exhausting I want to stay at home for like a week after just that...

Good luck, and good job pushing through.. keep it up.  There may be bumps in the road, rarely do things go exactly as planned.... these are opportunities to be resilient and strong!

Hi Benji! Congrats on coming out and everything, I hope your journey is going well. I had a similar experience, and most people will support you, or if not, they will not care and they won't bother you. Since last year that I came out I've had really few problems with my transition, specially with friends and people I know.

Good luck with everything, I send you much love and support! Everything's gonna be okay :)

Update: I told 3 more of my teachers and the rest the guidance counselor decided to email and tell them... they also have a gender neutral bathroom in the office I can use so I can use the bathroom at school now unlike the first 2 days... I'm already really stressed out about school though and it's only the first week...

Awesome! I hope the bathroom is accessible enough that you can use it when you need it.

Update: All of my teachers should know by now but a lot of them either forgot or don't care cause I've only had like 2 of my teachers use my name... I think I should probably tell them again but now since it's the second time it's gonna feel awkward... other then that at school I've made like one friend and embarrassed myself 3 times in one week... I'm not sure if it should be going better by now or if that's normal...

The last part seems like a pretty typical high-school experience. Of course I'm a dork, so your mileage may vary.

As for the teachers though, yeah, remind them. They need to be supporting you and the LEAST they can do is call you by your actual name.

Early on the teachers are just learning the names they have been given on a list.  If you remind then they will hopefully get it right and before long it will smooth out.

Update: I think most of my teachers got it now and they've been pretty good about it... I'm still kind of nervous my mom will find out but that hasn't happened yet... I was really worried she'd find out during orientation but that didn't end up happening so that's good....

Nope.  I live in a rural area.  Pride events are for city folks.  The normally quiet LGBTQ+ club kind of changes atmosphere during that time, and things get a bit political.  As a non-Democrat, I avoid it.

For me, definitely the size thing.  I'm 5'4" on a good day, and 100lbs.  I can pass as a teenage boy, but never for my real mid-30s age.  And since my husband looks older than his age, I'm often assumed to be his kid.  Or folks think there's something illegal going on.      Also, my lack of the typical aggressive "masculine" demeanor.  I don't really desire the typical masculine social role, nor could I do it even if I tried really hard.  I'm usually quiet and kind of timid.

I am sorry for your struggles. I cannot empathize, but I can surely sympathize. I wish only the best for you!

No, they are the only provider of services I need an my area. 😑

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.
    • RaineOnYourParade
This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

Anyone play war and order on their phones?
    • violet r
I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!
