monday night itook a leap...

one of my oldest friends has been staying in my camper for about a month. his mom took me in when i was 16 and my parents gave me the boot so when he and his long time girlfriend boke up i let him stay a while to get his cash saved up for his own place. now with him not knowing i am transgender it became a chore trying to stay hidden because he comes and goes randomly. monday i couldnt stand it any more so i took a leap and told him.i dont know what i expected, but he looked at me blank for about 1 second, i was so nervous i was jerking. he smiled and said " why have you wasted so many years of your life in misery. your life is half over and you should have done this years ago."  i broke into tears. last night when he came in it was so nice not to have to get into the old disguise. we sat and talked until way after midnight.

update:

more big steps today, my wife said she couldnt stand me not being haapy and being myself today. she actually told me she likes "me" much better than the old guy, and she wanted "me" to be here all the time so she called her entire circle exept for one and explained our situation, that we would remain married as partners and best friends. 100% acceptance from all her friends. next i bit the bullet and went to shop for groceries as myself for the first time. scared, trying so hard to relax that my shoulders hurt, i did it. not one sideways glance or giggle the whole time. i helped a lady in a wheelchair reach a can and she said thank you mam. euphoria. then the clerk handed me the reciept and said thank you sir. disphoria. all in all im very happy with what has transpired today. next we have to tell our 78 year old conservative border, scared again, but my wife says she will help with this one,

That is wonderful news Shyla.   Give it time and it will be mam everywhere.  You won’t even really notice it.

Hugs,

@shyla that is wonderful news. That is amazing progress. Feel good when they do say man... I've never experienced that.

This sounds great.   I'm really glad for you.

I get the "sir" at the store frequently, but I haven't had any intense hostility.  It is really wonderful about you wife.

Wow, incredibly uplifting update @shyla! There’s almost nothing like having a supportive spouse during your transition and it sounds like you’ve hit the jackpot there. Also, it’s great to see that you’re experiencing more and more of those precious moments we missed growing up in our true gender identity. I know you’ll be experiencing even more in time. I look forward to reading more updates like this.

All My Best,
