I have an appointment :D for next Wednesday (She was willing to see me yesterday, but I chickened out declined.

I'm excited, and really scared. I know this has to happen, and I have a really good feeling about her being willing and able to help me, but my previous experiences with therapy were less than stellar.

When I was little I wanted to learn to ride a bike....

I tried to learn 3 different times....

The first 2 I fell and got hurt....

The 3rd. I did it and have been able to do it ever since.................

It's not not all bad, Sweetheart...get back up there again.....you can do it!

Oh Treasa,

Everything will turn out right!

I just have a good feeling about it!

Just be yourself, and it will all come naturally.

Remember, what you say is between you and the therapist, you should feel safe telling them your story.

Let us know how it goes!

Sounds a lot like me, my prior experiences with therapy were not the most enjoyable moments in my life. My first session with my current therapist I was incredibly nervous about going in, which according to my therapist I did not hide in any way. After a month of seeing her I have opened up much more and feel like I am at a second home. Hope your sessions go good and that your therapist works good with you.

Relax and remember the therapist is there to help you - not for you to entertain them, they work for you.

Be yourself and be happy.

Love ya,

Thanks everyone!

I know that she's there to help me, and she's been wonderful so far (and we haven't even met yet).

Somewhat hopeful,

Just relax and be yourself.

The new therapist protocol calls for transacceptance and support in helping

you find your comfort zone, growing in the direction you need to go, as smoothly

as you can get there.Good girl for seeking out and finding a gender therapist.

Big Hugs,

Angie

Congratulations with getting a therapist! I was afraid seeing mine the first time, but after meeting him that slowly faded away.

Update:

All of my fears were (of course) groundless. I had a wonderful meeting with my new therapist and I am very glad that I went. She made me feel very comfortable from the moment I first met her until I left.

*HUGE sigh of relief*

Thanks everyone,

Treasa

Treasa -

I was in the same situation as you - I've know for years that I was ME; I never hadthe courage to go head on with my issues; I made a New Year's Resolution in 2009 to finally do something about it; I researched and found a GT in my area; I made the appointment;

Then, I got to the door, and had "cold feet" - but I knew it was now or never - I'd ultimatley end up dead- so I walked in.

It was the best experience of my life! I finally am on the journey I knew I was meant to be on and will ultimatley be ME!

Don't be afraid - Go For It! - You'll only feel better tomorrow!
