The former Barton Rogers School will provide 74 income-restricted rental units for seniors, along with gallery space, an arts studio, community gardens, and recreational space in Hyde Park.

Centers like that are springing up in many places.  Boston joins Los Angeles in having that type of facility for seniors.  Here in L.A. there is a similar residence across the street for LGBTQ youth and young adults and as part of their "housing contract" the young people have to do service for the older people.  The older people also offer mentoring and education help and "family" for them.

Yes, and more of this, please!  The unique needs of the LGBT communities are being met, slowly but surely.  But it needs to happen not just on the coasts, but in the heartland and southland, too.  Thanks for posting, Davie.
