I posted earlier thinking I was nonbinary.  I am not.  I am a trans woman.  My name is Emma but I don't feel like I am Emma yet.  I am hairy. I have a beard.  I am bald and I am wearing hand me down clothes from my wife.  I am trying really hard to claim my new identity and to be patient with the transition despite the fact that I look like someone I don't want to be and I have to pretend to be that person when I leave my house.  It's hard. I am very self conscious.

Hey there Emma, we're all a work in progress. Some are further along than others, but we're all working on it. This isn't a competition and we're all moving at different speeds. A very common phrase made here is: "Your mileage may very."

It can be tough looking in the mirror, at least for me. But I literally always feel good when I go out as female, and this is really the only way that I could go out and be happiest. My mother used to tell me people judged me when they saw me as a female out in public, but she's wrong. If your parents or anyone else close to you has said similar things, I'm sorry. They are wrong. Your wife really seems like a catch from what you describe, and I'm happy for you.

Hi Emma, welcome to the forum!  I know how frustrating it is at the start.  I'm on the first steps myself.  It sounds like you have supportive, understanding wife.  That makes a huge difference.  You're in the right place as you start your journey.  Don't dwell on where you are now.  Just keep your eyes on your goal.
