Reality Shows

I've noticed especially ABC especially dropping some decent shows in favor of reality TV. They are cheaper to make. Are they an insult to our brain power? I hope this isn't the wave of the future it seems to be. I love dramas.

You're right, Laura. All the networks are into it, some more than others, especially during the summer.

Mindless drivel for the most part. There are a couple though, that are fun to watch and aren't as

simple minded, such as "The Amazing Race."

Look at what NBC is doing with their 10 p.m. slot, which used to have the best dramas. Five nights a week

of Jay Leno!

Lots of good folks in the indusrty are out of work too, as a result. Its a real shame.

I've been getting kind of tired of the reality shows and dramas. Not that there aren't good ones of each, but it seems like they are making up most of evening/night TV these days. I have been finding myself looking for new things to watch a lot more often lately because I've been getting tired of all these reality shows.

I've been wanting to see a good new non-animated comedy show, but there hasn't been one in a while, at least that I know of. Glee on Fox looks like it might have potential, although I haven't gotten around to watching the pilot yet.

I am afraid that they are not an insult to the brain power of most TV viewers.

There have been fewer and fewer good dramas each year and even the good ones spend most of their time away from the main story lines an in the various bedrooms of the sordid lives of the main characters - am I alone in thinking that there is more to life than just sex and that extra marital affairs should not be held up as the norm and perfectly acceptable?

Oh well, at least I don't have to waste any money an an HD TV.

Love ya,

Sally

Glee's great. You should have seen me when they were like "And we're just giving you the pilot! The REAL show isn't being broadcasted until the fall!" "What? Nooooo!!!" That's one I'm looking forward to, and crossing my fingers it won't be cancelled.

I miss all the good shows that have been cancelled, like Pushing Daisies and Arrested Development. It seems like nowadays unless it's uncreative drivel churned out to appeal to the general population, like those endless amounts of medical and forensic shows, or a reality show that really toes the boundaries of taste, ("Watch people scream and yell!") it's deemed too eccentric. Thank heavens for AMC with Breaking Bad. That's one really inspired, intelligent, and complex show.

I think the largest portion of "reality shows" are scripted and fake... they use the premise of reality, and unknown, or rather just people that don't LOOK like actors (but ya notice some shows always have good looking people on them) to play the parts. I hate reality tv...well except Daisy of Love...my wife got my started and now i am hooked. LOL

I am sorry for your struggles. I cannot empathize, but I can surely sympathize. I wish only the best for you!

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!

Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬
