+18 Question The Condoms Thing when you are post-op

Hello, there!

I don't think that my question is that 'sexual' or 'explicit' but I brand it +18 just in case. Also I hope I am not repeating the topic!

I have heard that there is a constant need for your partner to use condoms if you are post-op. Is that a 'life sentence'? You know how lazy and picky men are and especially when they know that you can't get pregnant (I won't mention STDs or lubrication, despite their involvement) and you are together for a long time.

Is it necessary to keep using it (the condom) all the time with your regular partner or even a husband?

We do have some lubrication issues that will continue for our lives that lubricated condoms will help with, otherwise you will need to be ready for sex with ways to put adequate amounts of your dilation lube into the neo-vagina or you will have pain and probable infections.  We have a slightly elevated risk for yeast and bacterial infections that we do not want to inflict on our partners. The usual health advisories involving Sexually Transmitted Diseases will always apply, but like so much else about being Trans, we all will vary in our needs, but the best source of that information for you is your Post Op Gynecologist.

Thank you so much!

From what I've read, you would be better off if you did use condoms. Otherwise, you would have to <water balloon> after sex every time. Leaving seamen inside the vagina could leave you with a mold infection. Let him take the extra step. 😉

Hi! Since bottom surgery, my partner and I started with condoms, just because of his fear of blood. But after a few times it felt better and worked better for us to not use them. Mind you, we are monogamous. But from what I’ve read lots of opinions on what works for individuals. Back to the ‘different strokes for different folks’ LOL
