I’m out!

During our just completed vacation I was able to present as female without the worry of being recognized by someone we know. It was incredibly liberating!

 

On our return we met with our therapist and discussed this experience and not wanting it to end. That meant talking to friends and family plus our neighbors. 
 

So far, everyone has been supportive and wishing well on my journey to finally be me.  But, with that said, I’m not losing sight of the fact that at some point I will encounter unsupportive people that don’t understand.  However, I’m no longer letting that long standing fear of judgment holding me back.  

Yesterday my wife come across the following quote, “The greatest prison people live in is the fear of what other people think” by unknown. I have released myself from that prison and have no intention of returning.

Congratulations, @Richelle!  Surround yourself with good people and it will be a lot easier than your fears.

I remember that feeling so well!  It was one way i knew i was on the right path.

 I love that quote from your wife.  So glad you have her support!

Hi Richelle! Wonderful news, congratulations! I so relate to your quote, I'm better at not letting my head get tangled up in that silly mess, but still more practice needed. Progress not perfection, as the saying goes.

It does feel amazing. I’m fortunate that my family has known about my struggles so that part of coming fully out was much easier than for some people. Finally being able to be me all the time in any setting has been a liberating experience.

Same here. I’ve always believed that practice makes perfection, but go we really ever reach perfection?  Definitely not in my case. I just enjoying all the practice I’m getting.
