Haha

I grew up with my parents music: Motley Crue (saw them in concert in 2005 :D), Poison, Guns n Roses, LA Guns, Cinderella, Slaughter, etc & also I listened to The Pillows, Do as Infinity, Utada Hikaru, and that was the only types of music I listened to till about 10 years old, and I moved on to My Chemical Romance, it was my favorite band. (which I saw in concert for my birthday in 2006).

Then I was REALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY VERYYYYYYY obsessed with the band Negative and Jonne was my idol xD

Then in August of 2006 I heard TDFF by Dir en Grey and got into the whole visual kei thing.

And that is where I am now. xD

What did you guys listen to when you were younger vs now?

I go waaaaaaay back. Beatles were the best ever! Stones and the Kinks - and the whole Momas and the Papas scene - and Peter Pual and Mary... eclectic music tastes... anything but disco.

When I was in grade school I was really into Nsync and Brittany Spears. Now I love the killers, shinedown, linkin park, and others... :)

I listened to jrock, jpop, alternative metal, alternative rock, hard rock, heavy metal, nu metal, post-grunge, industrial metal, power pop, pop punk, techno, trance, pop rock, and a few other genres when I was younger, and I still do now.

OK, this may sound weird to a lot of you but that's alright.

I used to play music to go to sleep by on an automatic record player, the antique kind that dropped the records onto the platter and the heavy tone arm came over to carve new grooves into the soft vinyl.

My favorites were Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite" - the side with the Arabian Dance on it and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade".

In the daytime - I like Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" and Dvorák's "New World Symphony".

My dad listened to Dixieland and my mother listened to Swing - Big Bands!

My sister was off in her room listening to Chad and Jeremy.

Love ya,

Sally

I loved They Might Be Giants. (Still do, actually.) That's going to be all the music my kids are going to listen to, They Might Be Giants. (We can't be silent, 'cause they might be giants and what are we gonna do unless they are?) My parents really like folk music and 60s music, like the Beatles, and so I grew up with that as well.

From my father, I have taken Steely Dan, The Beatles, and Bob Marley.

From my mother, I have taken Genesis, Rush, and The Cure.

It took me until the tenth grade to start breaking away from my parents' music, when a friend lent me the album Lateralus by Tool.

Ha, I listened to pretty much the same bands Lizzy listed...plus a few. I grew up on classic rock. The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, Grandfunk Railroad, Dylan, The Mamas and the Papas, CCR (if anyone think that I just misspelled CPR, I am quite sad), Simon and Garfunkel, the Kinks, the Band, the Who, ect. If I named all of them I'd take up a whole page ;) . My parents were flower children (hippies to most of my generation) so I got the very best of the sixties and seventies, music wise. Didn't hear any Disco, and I can't say I'm upset about that.

I grew up with Metallica, Godsmack, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Collective Soul, and Tool. I still listen to all of these bands, but I do listen to other genres of music.

...My parents were rockers btw. xD

I really do not know how to answer this. My musical tastes are very fluid. I listen to just about any genre but my base has been and probably always will be in Metal (not hair bands mind you) and Punk.

About the only thing I don't listen too much anymore that i did when i was younger is the synthpop.

I grew up with a lot of great music that I still enjoy to this day.

From my mom: Earth Wind and Fire, ELO, Chicago, America, Michael Jackson, Kenny G., Basia, Gloria, Marion Meadows, Cher

From my dad: Todd Rundgren, Jeff Beck, The Tubes, INXS, Queen, Steely Dan, Santana

Other personal likes (age 8-15, about): The Pillows, Keane, Starsailor, The Aquabats, Muse, The Killers, Enya, Ima Robot

I'm a little more partial to my dad's music, aha.

My current musical tastes still include all of these guys, but also a ton of new genres and artists. I simply adore music.

I was raised on the beach boys ( Yes im really only 25) I love classical or Japanese traditional. I just bought the Ah My Goddess movie soundtrack.*bounces happily* Other than that i would listen to anything and im pretty much still that way.

When singing as a guy I prefer music by the wall flowers, or more slow older music. When singing as a girl I prefer Life is like a boat or musical music. And i love switching between in a song.

Yeah metal, still metal.

I listen to most forms of music now, but metal will always be a mainstay in my car, and on my itunes.

Having taken on the site, forums, and all of the bills, from Dev (May 2020) and because I also want to be fully transparent about the cost of running the site, I feel it's time to update this information. Sorry that it has taken me two years since I last gave an update, just life getting in the way.   If you'd like to donate, please do so via the green bar at the top of the forum pages.  The months of July through October are pretty heavy with annual and semi-annual expenses and every little bit helps.   Here's the breakdown as it stands now:   Chat is now free. (Stu now runs the Chat)   Regular Charges: There are occasional one off's as well. Forums:  $70.00 every six months (February and August, effectively billed in January and July). (Was $45 until 2022, support ticket system depreciated!) Resource Locator:  $53.00 yearly, this "widget" failed this year, so I have been able to find a (currently) free replacement. Resource Locator Mapping: Google maps, currently under the minimum monthly usage, so free. Email Delivery: $5.00 monthly currently free, changed to a service that offers a much larger monthly allowance. Server Rental:  $30.00 monthly. Greatfully sponsored by The Breast Form Store. Security Software:  Now included in the package we have. Domain Renewals: Approx $75 annual charges for Transgenderpulse.com, Lauras-playground.com and the server domain. Contact Us Form Software: $79 yearly (August).   Total Monthly Breakdown: $54.50 per month.  (Annual bills = $654) Updated May 2024 (Slightly down on previous years).   Now then.  I'm on a fixed income, which means I know what it's like not having a penny to spare.  If you're not in a position to donate, please don't feel guilty; I didn't take over here to turn a profit.  The lights will stay on.  Donations are very much appreciated, but they are not a requirement of membership.   An update to clarify a couple of points: Because you have to use your legal name with PayPal, emails confirming your donation from PayPal will be from a name with the initials "DS", not Petra Jane and the email used is tgp (at) uk-web***   Unfortunately, we can only accept payment through PayPal, and please ensure that you have permission to make any donation through a PayPal account, we have been stung by someone alledgedly using a PayPal account without the owner's permission and incurred an additional $20 chargeback to refund the donation!   We have recently seen a number of these of late so I am asking that genuine donators please add your forum username in the comment box so that I, and I alone, will know who has sent the donation and that it is genuine. Thank you. Also, this appears only to Members who are logged in on the forums, New Members need to have made a minimum of 10 posts.   Let me reassure you: Donations help towards ongoing costs related to keeping the site running, including hosting, bandwidth, etc. It also encourages us to commit regular updates, add features, and improve the service. Our promise to you is that this site and its use will always remain free of charge.     Petra Jane

This is the dress I'll be wearing this evening while we watch the Kentucky Derby. Not sure if I'll throw on heels or flats with it - probably flats but I haven't worn heels in a while and the Force is strong.
