I need to pick up writing again.

I have one book out at the moment (self-published) and I was working on the second book in the series. I haven't worked on it in a few months...and I want to fix that. But I've either been preoccupied with other projects, or just lacking energy to write. I was going to bring my notebook to work so I could brainstorm during lunch...but I forgot it at home. :')

I just want to revisit my closeted bisexual mafia man again LOL.

Any tips for getting "in the zone" and avoiding "the one day, one sentence" trap?

I get it @NashySlashy. I just consider "feeling blocked" as an unskillful state of mind. A never-give-up attitude eventually leads to progress if I consider that I just haven't found the right way ahead yet. And I use meditation to spark new ways of thinking about my story.

Good luck,

Davie   💜

I get it.  I actually self published one a few years ago (with my ex's illustrations)  Being retired I'm not in it for the money.  It's just something I have to do for my own sanity.

But it has been really hard to get to work over the last couple of years, which have been a little depressing for me.

Lately I've been doing better though.  I get up early, and try to do a little first thing in the morning.  My processes are kinda slow anyway.

And I've had a bit of motivation to put some stories (short stories) up on a website.  So far it's working for me.  I'm working on a couple things now.  It feels good.

I’d love to be a writer someday. Can you tell me what your book is called? I’d love to get it and support you!

Oh my! I'm not used to people showing interest in my book. I'm honored! :)

It's called Heathen's Barrow: My Evil. It's the first book of a series I have planned out. It's, uh, a pretty grim-dark story...so just a head's up there lol.

A brief synopsis: This guy (a rather deplorable human being) gets himself into trouble that would mean prison time for anyone else. However, he gets invited to this mysterious island where people just like him are vying for control. So he needs to find his calling and find a way to survive this land of dismay.

Also, demons and other supernatural creatures get in his way. ;)

Sounds like a fun story! I love it when a villain has to be good because there’s something more evil! And fantasy is my favorite genre so that’s great!

I did it on Lulu.  I had some printed, but the settings are private.  I was looking at the account and couldn't figure out how to change it yet.  Theoretically it could be ordered from there if I can figure out how to change that.  I still have a couple copies around somewhere.

Nice. That’s very cool!

Oooh, that still sounds chilly!!! Our pool was opened yesterday and it's a brisk 59 deg.

I took an involuntary swim wearing my quick dry hiking pants and shirt. Lifejacket not shown but present on the rock I am sitting on. Watson is dry now but I am still soaked. I capsized my kayak 5 feet from the shore trying to land on an island. Water in the pond was surprisingly warm considering it is early may in upstate New York.

@Birdie best of luck to you, my friend.   @MaeBe, nothing ventured, nothing gained! Good luck!

Oh I will. He loves to just sleep on the couch and sleep. Not very active at all which I'm mixed about. Less to do but also want him to do more too.

We had a German Shepheard/Lab cross! It was actually our son's dog but when he moved out, Axel stayed here. ❤️ He was soooo awesome! Totally goofy, but really smart, and a million percent lovable. Unfortunately, he didn't even get to see his fifth birthday. 😢 He did both hind knees in quick succession, which were repaired, but he re-injured one and it wasn't repairable. The grief we went through after we made that horrible decision was far worse than anything we have ever experienced before or after.    @Ashley0616, please be gentle with his joints until he is all grown up!   This pic is when he was still a puppy.

When things seemed really rocky with my wife. I had thought about moving to the PNW. WA and OR are quite LGBTQ friendly. Even interviewed for a couple jobs there.   Hugs, Kymmie

Friday night was pizza night, which is actually pretty routine here.    Tonight was a bit of a seafood fry-up. Crumbed flathead tails pan fried, crumbed scallops and chips (fries) deep fried, and a salad.   Tomorrow night will be junk food at a football game.

I was admitted upstairs for observation. The nurse last night took one look at me and said, "we need to use a FEMALE external catheter on you."   They placed a PureWick catheter over me and it's working great. If there isn't anything to connect a male catheter to it just isn't going to work.   So far I haven't passed more blood, and my abdomen does feel better. A specialist is supposed to see me today and perhaps order a colonoscopy to find out where all the blood came from.
