Adrian is a form of Hadrian, which means "from Hadria". Swell.

Rene (tentative middle name) means born again.

Fabio (middle name that is most likely discarded) means bean!

My last name means "dweller in a fen"

I honestly don't know the meaning or history behind my name "Levi Cristopher"

I felt since my mother named me at birth then she should be given the option to rename at what I believe was my second birth.. Although I did object just a bit... She wanted Cristopher to be the first name and Levi as the middle name.. and although it probably would have flowed better I preferred to get away from Cristopher seeing as I'd been called Chris most of my life.. She was Ok with that..

It appeared to be helpful for her because she was included and so it helped her not feel so much as if she was losing a child.. I dont know how to explain it as she stated it and how I viewed it then.. I know it was very special to her that I allowed her to do so it meant a whole lot to her..

I should go research the true meaning behind my name although with the name Levi I fear it will have something to do with the book of Leviticus some way... and anyone who reads the bible much knows what Leviticus includes.. just dont know if thats something I'm ready to struggle with... and try and make sense of as far as why it was chosen as my name and what the message I'm supposed to be getting from that fact is.. Maybe I will in the future.. I would hate to realize my mother chose that name as a way to passive aggressively condem me for being trans and gay in her own unique way.. I see a second legal name change in my future ugh...

i chose Rebbeca because, ive allways liked the name, and it suits me, though ive shortend it to Becky/Becci, it has no relation to my given name Aaron

I hope you like the name more than I did.

The way i choose my name is really silly in a way. When i was young one day , maybe 12 13, I was playing at school during lunch one day when i remember one of the girls in my grade calling to anther girl right behind me. She called out Michelle! It liked like she was staring straight at me. I dunno why but ive always loved that name ever since. Then just to make me a little diffrent my one friend started calling me Meesh so that stuck as my nick name.

I've had a variety of female names...

When I first came out, it was Jessica, in honour of an ex-g/f, and then it gradually became Gabrielle, and then I toyed with Angel, then t became Robyn, and eventually landed on Aoi.

It fits me perfectly (for now)

I have always loved the name Brooke and Elizabeth... so when I finally thought to stick the two together my initials became B.E. Savage. I thought that was the coolest arrangement I had discovered to date, so I am sticking with it!

Now the other side of the coine, loosely translated Brooke Elizabeth means "A river of promises to God"... it kind of sums up my life.

Hey all!

I am knew here and I will be posting an introduction thread in that section of the board in the near future.

Anyway, like a lot of you girls, I went through a lot of different names before choosing the one that I changed it to. The first name I thought of was Jane. I was around 8 years old and it was when I first started to really question my gender. It was the name I would use in my dairy in my room, the only problem I had with it was that it didn't flow nicely with my last name (Marty), and I like things that flow nice, it also was to generic. Then after I had figured in it, I came up with the name Veronica, after the short lived TV show Veronica Mars, but again it just didn't flow nicely with my last name. I also played around with Nora for awhile, after one of my favorite characters in books, but again no flow. The last one I played around with before I chose was Jennifer, afther my long time best friend who ran away, but that had two problems. One had no flow and two that same friend was my dad's long time girlfriends, they are still together, daughter and that would just be unconfortable. I finally just asked my dad, after I came out to him, what he would have named me had I been born right to begin with and he said Lessa (pronounced LESS A, you would be suprised how many people have called me Lisa). He got it from a book called Dragon Riders of Pern. I liked the name, good flow with Marty and as an added plus, it was unusual and lastly, I felt like thats what it should have been so thats what it will be.

As for my middle, which is Michelle, I chose that because of a high school friend of mine who thought it sounded good with my first name and last name, and I agreed.

-Lessa

P.S. I chose my screen name becasue I like the way it sound, and I have been told I am very "firer" at times :D.

I was talking on the phone with my girlfriend one day and we were talking about cute baby names. Then out of the blue she blurts out, "You should use the name Evelyne!" It sounds very similar to my birth name, Evan, which is good because i have always felt that that name is 'me'. It just kinda stuck B)

I tried so many names. I didn't want to use a name derived from my birth name of Christopher but I began to think of all the problems that all of my friends and family would have in trying to remember the new name. Now I know what most are probly thinking " Well any change in name would take time to get used to." One of the odd things was that since about 4th grade the most common nickname that I got was "K". I know it was odd considering that nowhere in my birth name there never was a K. So I just took the name Kristal Jennifer _______. The best part of all this is that we essentualy get to choose what we are called. (giggle)

i've been toying with my name a little mostly middle and last name thnk im gonna sticwith the one i came up it a few days ago.......

Dolly Amberlynne Rose.

the reson i picked it is because dolly really fits me well. it's playful and flirty but also vintage

(and yes i've been given the whole "hello dolly" references lol) but lo discovere it was my mom's favorite aunts name too which i didn't originally kow o that anoter reason to keep it fo me. my mom is really important to me cus shes always been there for me an i originallywanted t honor her name too by using it for my midde name....her names patricia-good irish name but it doesnt fit me so she sugested how about her middle name lynne so i blurred a name i really love, amber and her middle name together. and the rose?it's one of my favorite flowers, it symbolise (to me) love and friendship and beauty. ive been uing rose in so man of my screen names ever since i discovered how to use the internet so it as a sue winner for that.

i think it's perfect. even started practicing my jane hancock (signature) with it.

I picked my name after my great-grandfather (i think? my family tree is very confusing). My mom said she would name her first son Kirk. She had no biological son, so I thought the name was perfect. I traced the meaning too. Most people think its means church, but if you trace it far enough, to Gaelic origin, it means a circle, a symbol of eternity, and the existence of the Supreme Being, without beginning or end. Theres a longer definition, delving more into the spiritiual aspect. It seemed to fit, and it is I name I can proudly call myself.

Guest gwenthlian

I think part of the reason I chose Gwenthlian was an attempt to cling to something solid. Both physically and mentally I have moved around a lot, never really being able to call anywhere home. My grip on being Welsh is tenuous to say the least but I needed... roots. I felt alone and confused in the world and I guess this was a way of grounding myself. Oh and ive always liked it ^^. It is derived from the Welsh elements gwen "white, fair, blessed" and llian "flaxen" and I believe there were a few princesses of that name. As far as a screen name goes I have long been "kitsune" which means fox or vixen in japanese. In western society this would mean trickster or theif but foxes in japanese mythology are many-tailed guardians and beings of wisdom. Its literal translation in that language is "always-comes". I feel this reflects my attempts to help people in my life and prehaps a longing that people would understand and help me.

Oh dear, I appear to have written an essay ^^

Jade Angela.

I picked a name that was oriental but didn't sound rediculous for a cracker like me since I'm deeply into Shaolin Kung Fu and have been training in Chinese and Oriental Martial Arts for several years. Also. My Buddhist beads are Jade and it's a favorite stone of mine.

I haven't yet. My nickname, Shay, is technically a boy's name, and my online initials have been RD for years. I was thinking Ryan Daniel. I like Ryan and with Daniel I could still go by Shay (Daniel Shays) if I wanted. Bit of a stretch, but I don't have to choose right now.

Guest st.john

i go by a lot of names, and a lot of it depends on who i'm around. the two i use most i can't repeat here, b/c i've got enemies online who would probably track me here & make my life hell. the first comes from a story that involved characters being resurrected and suddenly finding themselves leading entirely new & different lives than those they had done before. it's all very pretentious, but when i picked it out a few years ago, i thought it very meaningful and appropriate. the second is stolen from a fictional character i admire & have tried to model myself after.

St.John (pronounced sinjin) is taken from a character i deeply admire & have role-played for many years. because of pronunciation issues, i use just "john" a lot as well. (i have one friend who only calls me 'Saint', but that's his special priviledge.) even though it's generally considered a very ordinary dull name, John just clicks for me, because of the person i associate with it.

if i was a bio-guy, i would have been either William or Thomas. most likely it would have been Thomas, as I was born in the UK not long after Prince William, and my mum didn't want anyone to think she'd copied princess di.

i still use my 'slave name' most of the time irl, apart from online or with people who are cool with the fact that i don't know who i am yet.

i just really love the fact that names are so very powerful, especially the ones we chose for ourselves. they let us define ourselves and give us an incredible sense of control over who we are and who we want to be. i don't know if i'm able to legally change my name, and if so, what it would be, but for now i content myself with selecting my names, using them on my own terms, and knowing that person is the 'real' me, even if i dont know who that is yet.

My first and middle names I have decided are Janelle Elizabeth (last name). I Came up with Janelle because well I don't know really why it just popped into my mind and I've never been able to shake it. Elizabeth because I like the name and it would make my initials J.E.M. (it make me feel so much more femimine being my parents' J.E.M.)

I have chosen a middle name: Aurelien. I heard it in French class last week, and fell in love immediately. There are few male names I like, because I like feminine sounding ones, and understandably they are hard to find.

Guest harvester52

I've had a few names.

I started with "Mixer"... weird, I know, but I was actually contemplating changing my legal name to "Mixer Neve Behringer ASMX-5203A". This was symbolic to me in a lot of ways that I really don't want to get into now. Mixer was an androgynous name that was typically used to refer to a machine, a genderless existance.

I realized that Mixer was not going to work because I was looking for jobs as a sound engineer, and seeing my legal name as Mixer on a job application would've made employers think I was nuts.

About a year ago, I decided to go with BC. I always liked two-letter names, and this was also androgynous. It originally stood for "Black Combine", a nickname my friends gave me because I'm going into harvesting in 2009, they say that I'm "built like a combine harvester", and I wear black all the time.

My mom then brought up a good point. Having a two-initial name would cause some legal hassle as most folks assume that the letters stand for something. So, I searched further. After I came out to my family as FTM, I decided on a male name, Bruce Christopher, to be shortened to BC... and it has stuck ever since.
