Please take the time to respond to this survey.  It is completely legitimate and well worth the effort as it provides some of the only reliable information about our community.  Several of our Administrators and members are involved in the group doing the survey.  It is the survey quoted in the post about John Oliver in which he speaks of information gathered in 2015.

Thank you for posting the link, Charlize!

A couple of things I wanted to point out to our members: the survey is completely anonymous and no one's personal information will be shared with anyone, government or private; it will take up to an hour to complete, but you can leave it and come back to it later; it is available in Spanish; folks who identify as non-binary, cross dressers and other gender-non conforming people can take it; and very importantly for our members, who tend to be older, is that there are several questions regarding aging while trans, including senior housing and health care.

Full disclosure - I do sit on the Board of Directors of the NCTE, the primary sponsor and developer of the survey.  I receive no financial compensation for my work with them.

Took me an hour and a quarter but it is time I feel worthwhile having taken the last two of these and knowing people in NCTE for over 10 years by now.  The stats from it have influenced Federal Law and regulations and laws and regulations in my own state and others.  It is "answer driven" in that YES answers in some places will open up additional questions that give more which define your YES answer a bit more.  Some of it made me grateful that I live where and with circumstances that I do but also gives me ideas on how to better interact with my Trans Community.

This survey is set up for virtually everyone here.  If you have gender related issues or care a parent or guardian of a trans child this is there for your response.

I recall taking the last one.  I'm looking forward to seeing the new results.  The world has changed.

I ran into a technical hiccup partway through and had to restart, but I've finished it, too!

Maybe we can have a discussion about the results when they come out, but it was up to date on current issues and it covered a lot of ground.

Taking it made me a little sad about looking back at some of my dark times, but overall grateful. I don't have too many of the struggles that (I would assume) kids and other trans face with unsupportive parents, bullying, or being homeless, or worse.  I feel fairly privileged although I worked very hard to get where I am.

Just a lot to reflect on in the course of the survey and feeling it's more important than ever to submit my data. Hopefully the input of those like minority populations shed light that there are still many who are in crisis that go ignored and whose lives are still in danger.

Good evening everyone,

I took this survey through a twitter link that was shared with me. Like @Davie I'm sure I passed it.

Hugs for everyone,

I took it.  I feel kinda like a minority of a minority....

One thing I noticed about the income portion is the survey assumes you know your household income.  There wasn't a spot for "I have no idea what it is." And for kids, the number stops at "9 or more.". I guess they are cheaper by the dozen?😂

Not sure how useful my data will be.

Took it too. My answers were kind of boring. No drama. A couple of answers were borderline regarding career and public interactions. I answered no because everything is so subtle and impossible to nail down especially since no one knew at the time because I myself was in denial. Today I live in the northwest which is very accepting. I think they’re primarily interested in the last 12 months anyway and I’m retired so anything career related doesn’t really apply.

Happy I could take this survey.  Thank you @Charlize!  Only took me 15 minutes, but that's probably because I am living in Japan and its a U.S. Trans survey.  I think they ran of things to ask me, but happy I could contribute ☺️

That took quite a while to complete but I'm glad I made the time to do it. Thank you for submitting here on-line.

I am glad many of us responded to this survey.  If you haven't please consider doing so.  The results will affect the trans community for years.

Yes.  I was surprised to see how infrequently they've been offered.  It was 90 minutes of my time well-spent.  Regardless of our answers, I suspect it's valuable that more of us are likely to be responding than in previous surveys -- which helps lend credence to our stories.  We're here.  We're relevant.

This is the THIRD time this has been done so it is relatively new in the social/behavioral sciences field.  The fact that it is being done at all is innovative.  It will take up to a year to actually publish an analysis of the date that has been collected but it is being analyzed by actual experts in the affected study fields.  It does take time though.

I'm not happy to admit this, but I usually scream or break things.   Breaking things became a bit of a no no, because It was always a cd or something I liked and it got very expensive to replace stuff

Probably amusement parks. I've never been to one sadly, but I think I could talk for an hour about them without any problem

The name "Mississippi" comes from the Anishinabe tribe of Native Americans; the word means "Father of Waters."

frustration:  the frustration of creative instinct is a notorious evil of the machine age : the state or an instance of being frustrated. : a deep chronic sense or state of insecurity and dissatisfaction arising from unresolved problems or unfulfilled needs

Fighting a fever since yesterday. Been shivering cold. even though I keep the house at 71. Went to bed at about 8 last night slept until my wifes alarm was going off.    Ashley I think you are correct. However, they won't be graced with my presence today.   Hugs,   Kymmie

That's horrible that they are blaming you for her presumption. I hate to say it but maybe they are looking for reasons.

I have no skin in the game here, apart from the signal that a re-elected Trump sends to likeminded politicians around the world, which would result in an indirect yet detrimental effect on many people here and elsewhere. So, hopefully what I write here can be used as a reference for how he, and American politics in general, is viewed from a country that is not directly involved.   It seems to me that politics is not taken seriously by enough people in America. Actually, specifically the USA (America can be anywhere from Prudhoe Bay to Panama to Patagonia). Electing a celebrity to high office just wouldn't happen here, let alone one who has overseen the bankruptcy of several of his business ventures and is embroiled in hush-money scandals. I remember during my teenage years when Reagen was elected; the main point of conjecture here was that he was just a B-grade actor. Equally laughable was Arnie as governor of California, although he turned out to be somewhat more socially progressive than most Republican politicians.    I simply cannot understand why the Dems cannot find a decent candidate. Biden has cognitive issues. Everyone expected Harris to step up by now, but no. Where's Jed Bartlet when you need him, lol! In my mind, if Martin Sheen threw his hat in the ring, he'd be elected in a heartbeat because many of you would actually believe that he was the real deal! Even though he's older than Biden!!!   Sorry if that sounds like I am trying to insult the intelligence of y'all. But y'all asked for it, by valuing celebrity over substance over the last five decades or so.    I have no doubt that Trump will win in November, even if he is in jail. His rusted-on supporters will just say, "Yep! That's our boy!!!"
