Ohio Senate Removes Invasive Exam Language From Trans Sports Bill

It is interesting in this legislation that there is no mention of trans men.  I  can imagine senerios where in the low wrestling weight classes or in gymnastics where this could be an issue.  Shouldn't we be equally discriminatory?

This is such a made up issue  but it is great politics.

An excellent point which underscores the made-up-ness. Transwomen are seen as a threat to the purity of ciswomen be children - invading their spaces with predatory intent. Transmen are seen by the made-up-stuff-believers as victims of internalized misogyny. So, apparently transmen are mainly a threat to themselves? But then there's the made up "social contagion" theory. I suppose that if transmen infiltrate "men's" sports, there is no threat of said "men" contracting the contagion as they're already men. But wait! Does this mean that in fact transmen, in order to protect the sanctity of women and children, should therefore be required to join sports that align with their affirmed gender instead of joining women's teams?

One will come up with only nonsensical conclusions when operating with flawed axioms. 🙄😝

I can't really explain why, but I feel this quote is somehow appropriate to this issue -

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master—that’s all.”

Yes, speak truth to power—but don't try to make good sense arguing with crazy, dangerous people. Instead, look at Germany and Peru—they lock them up. We should, too.

But who gets to determine what is crazy? Who gets locked up? We've seen what happens when the "majority" gets to make that decision.  Societies can often fall victim to a collective insanity like in WWII.

It always comes down to that question.... Who is to be the master? Ideally, the correct answer to that question is NOBODY.

I'm glad to see that invasive language removed from the bill. Just as I'm glad to see any removal of power from those who want to be the master.

Emily Dickinson:

Much Madness is divinest Sense -

To a discerning Eye -

Much Sense - the starkest Madness -

’Tis the Majority

In this, as all, prevail -

Assent - and you are sane -

Demur - you’re straightway dangerous -

And handled with a Chain -

A lot of transphobia also carries sexism. Bigotry with bigotry.

Misogyny.

Being a man is good.  Trans-men are little threat to the patriarchy.

Trans-women challenge it by rejecting, or at least questioning it.  If men are superior, why would anyone choose to be a woman?

Adding injury to insult in the area of Trans Men that is missing here was the Texas experience a couple years back, where a "T" loaded High School Trans Man was forced to wrestle in the women's category, and was beating the liver out of the women.  He was considered to be a woman by their rules, so it was all hunky dory.   "When in worry or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout!!"

The problem lies in the "choose" belief.  I suspect that for many people, myself included, living authentically is the only option we can live with.  I had survived "existing" for almost 40 years, but once I got a sense of what life (private transition) could be like I knew that continued existence wouldn't be survivable any more.

An analogy:  I wonder how many people would "choose" to live in permanent darkness after experiencing daylight.  Comments around Christmas time in high northern hemisphere latitudes suggest that very few people thrive when there are few/no hours of daylight.  If people were forced into this situation, attempted suicide rates might easily match surpass the rates we see for transgender people.

Being transgender is not exactly a choice, true.  Living as transgender kinda is though.

Once you feel the freedom of being yourself it's hard to go back willingly.

Oppression can force you back though, which is the intent of a lot of the current legislation.

@DavieI just got done reading about this in two places, one through the Human Rights Campaign and the other a source quoting F-- News and the two are a bit at odds with each other.  The judge found the Cis Plaintiffs had not proven they were injured, but the F--News quoted the them as they and 85 women having been cheated out of place statistics by the Trans people.  Of course, the legal financiers and counsel was a hate group with too much money and time on its hands.

Good luck on selling your wife on the idea of a different car. This could be tougher than negotiating with a dealership.   My wife agreed to my taking profit out of the company to buy a used truck once we found out the 2014 F-250 I currently had with 267,244 miles on it was needing new torque converter solenoids and the DEF system is chocking up. We bought a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, Duramax 4X4, with 163,000 miles. LTZ Off Road package, power mirrors, chrome step boards, rear camera, exhaust brake, and air lift bags on the rear suspension. It belonged to a friend of mine who also owned a mobile training business.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

At the other end and in our favor is Julia Serano's analysis of the Cass Report Fiasco   https://juliaserano.medium.com/the-cass-review-wpath-files-and-the-perpetual-debate-over-gender-affirming-care-8f56d0c4d0c6   Serano is a Trans Woman and a molecular biologist herself, guess whose evaluation I honor.

That's great @MaeBe hopefully the company will offer your wife a moving package with the new job position. That's how I was transferred from the St. Louis Metro area to the Indianapolis Metro area. The company covered all the moving expenses, as well as a three week stay in an extended living hotel while we chose an area to build our current home.   Good Luck and make it a happy adventure.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

@Birdie is the day care in charge of your MyChart, Hospital, and Doctors as to how you are cared for? There has to be some way to prove that you were born intersex and have a choice on your chosen pronouns. I wish we could do more for you. Keep pushing forward.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

The Republicans are not interested in compromising.  Johnson will be gone for compromising unless the Dems help him out.

Biden campaigned as the master negotiator, able to push legislation through Congress.   Whatever bill a Dem president, a Dem Senate, and a Rep House can agree on might be  more palatable than a bill with a R president, R Senate and R House given present attitudes. They are throwing away a chance.
    • Ivy
A bill like this would never get through congress, even if it were allowed to be voted on.

Ha, that's funny - I swear this is the one I used to use in high school to get around school blockers and play games. 😅🤦‍♀️   Though I'd be wary of using a free VPN today, if your only intent is bypassing censorship, I guess it works. Proton VPN also has a free tier with a limited selection of countries/servers. I feel more comfortable recommending them as they actively try to fight censorship with new evolving VPN protocols, and they protect your privacy. They are also directly funded by their paying customers. So there is really no downside to using their free tier over another free VPN that may not have the same goals/values.

That sounds pretty accurate. I'm just glad I don't use Windows anymore, as I basically consider Windows itself a virus/malware. Backups can absolutely save you from some types of malware like ransomware. However it's ideal to just not get infected by having smart browsing habits. It's been said, and very accurately so, that the best antivirus is you - even the best antivirus isn't 100% accurate in detecting bad stuff, if you go out looking for that stuff or browse carelessly.   I guess if you don't care and/or don't have sensitive data on your PC, then that's fine I suppose. I personally care a lot - personal accounts, private messages, and even my very presence on this site aren't necessarily things I want to be public knowledge. 🤓🫠
