40 years ago when one of my job duties was keeping track of intelligence about what medications were being sold on the Black Market in my part of the state and their street prices, I was surprised a bit to find Birth Control and Female and Male Hormone preparations right on the list with the illegal "Schedule III" drugs.  I am cynical enough to think that we will see that happening once again with customers from our community.  I do not know who my local drug pusher is that could supply me here in my state where it is not needed, but certain ethnic communities whom their governor would like to see eradicated along with Trans people have used those sources in the past.  I still hold to and as an Admin will enforce this site's rule against information about "illegally obtaining" medications not prescribed by a local doctor, but as a Trans woman I have the utmost compassion for those for whom it is the only route there.

I am at a loss as to why trans supporting law firms haven't tried, or been successful, at obtaining a temporary restraining order to block this from going forward until the proper court hearings and decisions come down.  This is an emergency effecting people's health & welfare, and certainly qualifies for a TRO.

Unfortunately, it does not qualify for a TRO at the state level because there courts are stacked on the state law.  Sadly we have to wait for actual harm such as -- well, even our real distress has been blocked by their medical "experts" so to them there is no imminent harm and under their rules, while uncomfortable, they declare there is no remediable harm per se.  We are being force to show harm since we are the ones alleging it will happen but cannot bring up what happened before the law was enacted.  A sad little fact that my law school days brought out.

Mercifully, the Southern Legal Council, Human Rights Campaign, National Center for Lesbian Rights, and GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders in the process of suing Florida's medical board on behalf of four families. One might think, what's taken so long & why only four families? From what I understand about human rights law groups from reading books about historical and contemporary champions of civil rights justice, those groups are typically under-funded, massively overworked, and against deep systemic bias. Thus, they are often meticulous about whom they choose to represent because for such cases, precedent is very high stakes; they often choose cases that have the best chance of prevailing and establishing the most strategic precedents possible (sometimes with a projected domino effect in mind) - all this given very limited resources.
