Trans Adults In FL "Blindsided" By New Laws Limiting Transition Care

By now, I do not want to stub my toe or get a splinter in my thumb down there is Florida due to the fact that they are rolling the entire medical profession in the state back 50 years.  I am not surprised considering how poorly their leadership, both medical and political reacted for the Covid years and their total ineptitude to comprehend the health situation.  The wider, non state medical profession did disgrace the politicians and now the politicians are looking for revenge and trying to recover a missing credibility in their ability to handle emerging health issues.  They are not making their faces really look better unless putrescence is a good color.

Pure political hate.  It's orchestrated for political gain only but causes such pain.  Shame on the "grand old party"!

If you have been following these bills (there are just so many of them) you would have noticed this was in there.  It probably wouldn't't have helped much though, since they were rushed through the process as an "emergency" with no testimony allowed from the opposition.  There wasn't really time to prepare.

The ban on the nurse practitioners is particularly cruel.  Isn't there a requirement for a consent form that the state hasn't't even published yet?

"I just never thought it could happen this way, this fast and to us,” Eli said."

A lot of people thought that this only affected minors.  I guess the were fine with that.  This should be a warning to those "LGB but no T" people.

Now it'll go to court, but people will suffer in the meantime.

I recently saw a meme saying something to the effect that DeSantis & his admin should respond to the so-called woke mind virus the same way they responded to covid - ignore precautions and encourage the population to develop herd immunity.

Charlize nailed it for me, this is politics of hate because I need a problem to save you from so I can be your political savior..Hitler blamed Jewish people, handicapped n homosexuals for all of Germanys problems..now the Republicans are blaming LGBT folks similarly..n just for political gain.

my questions start with US Constitution..like what happened to separation of your church n the welfare of the state , of my freedom of speech, association etc..hey here's one Equal Protection of the laws..due process...all of these n more trampled in the justification of hate and saving the world from us..doing what?

do these idiots who have probably never spoken to a lgbt person truly believe anyone really feels endangered because I slipped into private stall  of ladies room, pee, wash my hands n touch up my makeup? the ladies don't express any concern

these genius should think it through  ..I present in hi heels, short skirts  big busted  makeup n purse..aside from the fact nobody will ever let them institute a panty check n you must carry a birth certificate to use a public restroom..which bathroom do I look more out if place in? in the men's room, as missy, you now need to explain to your 6 year old son why there is a lady in men's room n what transgender is..but if we all keep our heads on n I use the bathroom I present as, your 6 year old would probably simply tell you gee that woman was ugly or looked like uncle so n so..but you don't need to explain to her. if they pause to think they'd realize this, but that's asking a lot of blind haters.

hugs to all

HERE'S a great idea for Desantis: Newsom threatens DeSantis with kidnapping charges after migrants dumped twice in four days. For the second time in four days, Florida picked up people seeking asylum and took them by private jet to Sacramento at taxpayer expense, California officials said on Monday after another flight arrived at a local airport.

Throw him in jail with Trump!

@DavieIn that case this could get interesting here.  Ron D. is supposed to be coming to California on his campaign stuff.  He will be under the jurisdiction of the California Courts then.  Let's see what pan's out.

I've heard a couple of migrant attorneys weigh in on Newsom's threat and didn't think much of it's chances.  Civil suits are another matter, however.  Causing Florida to have to pay millions might put the kibosh on future stunts like this.

It seems odd that if migrants are such a problem for Florida, they have to go to Texas to find them.

This is another demonstration of the pointless cruelty of the DeSantis GOP.

I no longer feel that "The cruelty is the point" is hyperbole.

I have friends who drove to Tallahassee to testify against recent legislation.  They are both trans women and after their testimony they were thanked quite politely and totally ignored.  This persecution is not a matter of hate but one of political expediency.  By showing us a a "threat" to decent white women, children and the population in general they "prove" themselves the white knights they hope voters will see.

I hope this is seen by most as what it is:  Horse droppings!

I used to hope it was a small group hating us n they would fade or be overshadowed by other, more positive messages.

apparently they are not going away but have made hatred of us the 1st priority to campaign on instead of say the economy, homeless people, hunger, poverty,  or anything else one might expect a responsible politician may need to address.

now I hope they blow their hate loud n long enough, that maybe most people are basically decent n while they may not understand our issues, at some point common sense kicks in n one has to question just what is the big danger society needs to be protected from? how many actual stories have been documented of child assaulted dressing up  going into the opposite bathroom to seek out their innocent prey? my hunch is none, thank God, but that doesn't prevent using that threat as their bottle cry. why not? I hope regular God fearing people will start questioning what's the big deal if bob wants to or feels the need to transition into Lisa?

similarly how many cis girls have actually been damaged by a young transgirl competing in the local soccer or volleyball team or league? in Ohio I heard the legislation stopped 6 young girls from competing, with no documentation of any real need.

fingers crossed n prayers often they stop attacking n hating us. I see their attacks no different than Hitler attacking Jewish people in 1935 Germany..now they had a common enemy that would solve the nation's problems..hogwash.

prey people are more compassionate n smarter.

hugs

The parallel is closer than you think.  Hitler attacked us (LGBT+ and specifically trans people) before turning to the Jews.

The infamous picture of the burning books was of Magnus Hirschfeld's Institute for Sexual Research library being destroyed.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-forgotten-history-of-the-worlds-first-trans-clinic/

For anybody that does not already know, Hirschfeld's Institute did pioneering transgender surgeries and research.  It was destroyed by the unhealthy politics in 1933, and his work was burned.  The Danish Girl of the movie was one of his patients.

"Unhealthy politics"?    Gee, sorry.

LOL.  Yes the censor does a zealous application of Godwin's Law.  Mike Godwin himself said it doesn't apply when dealing with actual "unhealthy politics".  But it is there for a reason.  If you just type "unhealthy politics" instead of the n-word, we all know what you mean.

The word in question was being used to target individuals in ways that ran afoul of our long standing Community Rules, so we did add it to the filter.  We hope you understand.

I guess it's like a holocaust. I'm hoping someone does something. I'm finally feeling the good benefits of being on HRT! I don't want to go back as depressed as I was. I still am but a load has definitely been taken off. Maybe time to write congressmen before they get bright ideas.

Whatever the legal wrangling, it's always important to stand up to bullies, and to stand up for the truth.

I think this can be a big part of it. There are times when I just don't have the experience or expertise to respond.   Is there a specific post we've missed @Ladypcnj?  I remember that my intro post had less than 10 responses. Some of that has to do with timing, too.    I've also found that the more I posted to various threads the more responses I've received. But, I can tell you that there are times when almost no one responds to my posts. Don't take it personally. Keep posting where you feel comfortable and people will get to know you.   It really is a friendly and accepting place.

Oh, the guilt can be overwhelming, can't it? It's kind of like the joke about the difference between Protestants and Catholics.   Protestants have sex without guilt.   Catholics have guilt without sex.   It seems as if guilt is just a natural by product of our gender identity confusion whether we have any awareness of it or not. We feel different and so we blame ourselves for not feeling as others say we should.   What a tremendously uplifting moment it is when we can finally shed that guilt. Bask in the relief, M.A.   And having the right therapist seems so crucial to me. I had, fortunately, a very quick and strong connection and trust in my therapist. She was a life saver for me. Literally.   Again, welcome to TGP!!

For me, with my former therapist, it was almost more like a frog in a pot slowly coming to a boil - I don't think either of us realized the scope of what we were dealing with until fairly recently. And she helped me find my new practitioner, which was incredibly helpful too <3 It feels very strange and new - I've framed this, whatever this is, as 'being bad at being female' for literal decades, since puberty really, and the idea that maybe it's not my fault, that I've never done anything 'wrong,' is a little overwhelming.

I had fun doing this a few weeks ago.  This is how I got rid of -money:     This music player code of mine is really working out nice.  My music collection is all mp3 files.  I put them on my server and then code things like that to play them and loop them.  And then I coded an app while I was in the mental hospital in 2009 that I use to transcribe my music with.  It's a Windows app and you can browse to an mp3 or use a URL to an mp3.  Once it is in the program, it looks like a normal music software timeline and there are sliders to slow it down and speed it up by octaves, semitones and cents, so you have complete control over what key the music is in.  And you can create loops in it and I added a feature a few years ago where it remembers all the settings so when you open it again, you still have the same loop set with the pitch settings.  I've been putting my favorite recordings in it lately, setting the funkiest loop I can find and then slow it down an octave or more.  Then I play drums to it and piano stuff, or pennywhistle.  I like playing drums on the floor.  Even though I got rid of money and well, I should have done that decades ago, I had a good time the other day hitting my bin of GO stones with my drumstick.   I don't know if I'll get flagged for self promotion here or not.  You know, I'm a musician and I'm just sharing ideas for how to listen to and enjoy learning to play music.  I'm not the only one who has made tools like this.  I'm really geeking out on my roommates drumset.  I learned to play in the 90's, but I haven't had a set since then.  I've been playing 5 gallon plastic water bottles as hand drums for 30 years.  They are relatively inexpensive and common and they sound great.  Very fun to play along to your favorite music.  And if you can slow the music down, it can make it easier to play to for some songs.  As advanced as I get as musician, I still enjoy just meditating on playing some simple pattern over and over.  Lately I've been playing an Emin7 chord going to an Fmaj7 chord on the piano.  It's all white keys.  You just play an E and then skip a key etc...  Every other key for 4 notes and then just move that all up one key for the Fmaj7 chord.  I just like the droning quality of it.

During COVID lockdowns without any place to go, some neighborhood buddies and I would play Life for hours (imagine a bunch of middle aged men playing that game, it was a hoot - all sorts of 'house rules')... anyways, as much as I could get away with it, I would choose a pink peg to represent myself... sometimes even had a female name to go with it... this was before I even really pondered whether or not I was trans ...   I was very determined to do this ... so interesting to look back and see all the threads pointing me to where I am now, though it has come as such a surprise as well...   Easy

Thank you all for the helpful responses... I realize some of HRT is for mental health -- like I said above I really am enjoying the ride so far in that regard!   Guess there is a part of me that wants to have my cake and eat it too. I want to have a nice feminine shape within reason for my age (fat distribution - you can kick in whenever you want!!). Yet, I am still not out to family, so I want it to be subtle enough as I go along that I can cover tracks when necessary ... Not the ideal situation but it is what it is ... maybe when family realizes that this is not making me into a monster, they will come around to some of it. I can hope, right?   More and more, I just want to look in the mirror and see a female body staring back at me ... I want female clothing that I put on to look like it fits me to a T... (and by T, I don't mean testosterone, lol)...    EasyE

Good afternoon M.A.   Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums, I think you'll find that there are a lot of us who had their first therapist reconsidering our story and recommended us to gender or LGBTQIA specific therapist. I made my first therapist cry after asking me what was my worst experience or memory. She was not prepared for the can of worms I brought to the couch. My second therapist is a gem, she's my age and knows how to work with my thoughts.    My two kids were also involved in the arts programs in school one in theater, the other combined art and modern music.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
