Elon Musk bans the word “cisgender” from Twitter & calls it a “slur”

Cisgender is of course not a slur.

However, by banning the term, it is implied that trans women (or men) are not real women (or men), while "cis women" are.  This makes any discussion of it an inherently hostile place for trans people or their allies.  Transphobes still have their "free speech" of course, while we are censored.

Musk owns twitter, so he can do whatever he wants.

He claims to be a champion of free speech.  But in reality he is a petty dictator with an anti-trans agenda.

For all its flaws, twitter used to be a major forum for a lot of people to exchange ideas and/or argue about them.  That is no longer the case - enter with care.

I saw that yesterday.  I think this is yet another sign of his "war" against his trans daughter.  He hates all things trans, and probably Gays & Lesbians too, although it's not as obvious.

I've wrestled with whether to stay on Twitter or go, but at the moment, there aren't any viable alternatives.  But yeah, he is the most hostile transphobe I've encountered on the site.

I deleted Twitter a month or so ago and really don't miss it, or the venom that it's CEO is spouting. Unexpectedly, most of my news updates now come from free agents on TikTok, lot less BS and due to the algorithm feeding you more of the same type of content when lots of folk talk about the same thing you get to see a few different perspectives.

Just reading your posts this morning, reminds me of why I never signed up for any of it, what a hostile place, full of manipulation and keyboard warriors. I like our little corner of the world here at TP.

Have a great day....

I wonder how long before Faceplant goes the same way.

It seems to me that most of the big tech platforms have been slanted to the left for a long time. They have wielded incredible censorship power. Now that the shoe is on the other foot at least where Twitter is concerned, why are we surprised they want to get their kicks in? That's the problem with any kind of censorship... the blade can cut both ways.

I have always stayed away from social media.  What an unpleasant circus.

I’m feeling the effects of the social agendas.

Have noticed change in people I know, towards me in recent months.  Colder.

Wish no one noticed trans.
And we would have some rights and respect without it having to be a mess.

Yeah.  This is kinda the situation.

As for past left-wing bias, I don't think it was as bad as people make out.  I don't know of an actual left-wing platform.  Youtube demonetizes people on the left and right both.  I dislike Facebook and only get on there for specific sites.  (there is a local Pride group)

I see it nearly that way, I have a twitter account but only use it to look for a game I play if there is any update, and my facebook is just to get contact with a local Transgroup in my city. All the other nonsense like linfluencer and trends are not interesting for me. I rather watch some youtube content but I also decide what content I watch. The internet is full of nonsense and hate but also full of knowledge and love.

True.  You can still choose what to watch.  I watch a lot of Youtube, and don't watch a lot more.

I still have a Twitter, but don't use it. Left it looking like a joke account.

It's been interesting watching how a billionaire troll messes with the world. The privilege of having ungodly amounts of money and nobody in power willing to put a cap on that can of bs, words aren't enough to describe the perplexing situation humanity gifted itself. Not that I wanted the gift to start with, but guess I'm stuck with a petulant self absorbed oaf on the control board pushing all the red buttons.🤷

Elon Musk is an arrogant, toxic narcissist.  Imagine if his money was put to good use instead of the vile, self-serving use he makes of it

As I read this one, it is only for school bathrooms.  I hope he has signed a bill to triple the number of "security monitors" on the campuses and up their pay considerably, not to mention some other costly stuff.  Only way is for every school employee, to know the birth certificate information of each student by memory which will require 3 additional months of salary for them all.  It appears the enforcement relies on parental reports obtained from their children which opens so much up.  The kids will end up ALL with wet or soiled underwear while the parents go at each other with weapons over "family honor" over false calls based on childish name calling.

I agree. This law is impractical and impossible to evenly enforce without such ridiculous measures in place. What it will do is stigmatize the trans community in Oklahoma and nothing more but ofc, that’s the only point of it.   If I was in that state and needed a restroom, there’s no chance I’d ever step foot in the men’s restroom because of some law. I know I’m not alone in that thinking. This law won’t stand the test of time.

I asked AI to create an image of myself 30 years younger based off my avatar on another site and this was the result:     Wow! I am amazed how close it got my 30 year old face!

Quite true.  The amusing thing about opposites is how similar they can be.   My family left Greece because of the conflict between the communists and the militarists/fascists.

This wouldn't even be a problem if they would just leave us alone.  It is a no-brainer.

OMG.  I'm glad it wasn't worse, and you were able to get on it quickly.  Lots of blood can be scary.

Like I said, I'm no tankie, but I do see a world of difference between Joseph Stalin and Bernie Sanders.   If the point is not wanting 'government control' the Right is pretty good at that themselves - as they've been demonstrating lately. This stuff gets complicated.

So, I am curious. Is the Governor going to mandate vaginal or penile recognition photos before one enters the restroom? Considering the Governor has no balls to do the right thing, will he have to pee against a tree outside? Inquiring minds would like to know. I love it when the job recruiters contact me about the wonderful jobs available in Oklahoma. It is so much fun telling them there is no way I will ever go to Oklahoma. When there are no workers, then they can shutter the place.

Ngl, probably Sonic the Hedgehog, the Beatles, or the Monkees. Those are the three subjects I know the most about so I could drop hours of info on them.

Thank you! I'm out of coffee so I have been drinking hot tea instead. Looking forward to the 1st. It's crazy that we are almost in May. This year has flown by really quick! Good to hear that y'all got to sleep in. Hope you have a good weekend too!

It's nice to care about others but you need to live your life as you please. No one be your only source of happiness. Love yourself and don't look back. I lost over 40 family members it hurts but apparently, they didn't truly love me. True love will always be there through the thick and thin. I can honestly say that HRT has made me think in ways that I never thought I would. I get myself some shoes or clothes every month because retail therapy not only helps but it is a reward to myself to show love. I have over 100 dresses. I have a whole walk-in-closet full of clothes and 67 pairs of shoes. I love who I am. I was born in 84 so not all people in the 80's think that way. As far as the name just take your time and be happy with it. I knew I loved the name Ashley. Take care and welcome!
