Surgery regret- not what you think

For my surgery, I had a vulvaplasty aka no depth. Everything healed fine and looks good. Now that I've had time to test things out a little bit, I find that the part that I feel when aroused is not the clitoris but the "indent " where the canal would have been. Now I'm kinda wishing I had gotten the full version instead.  I did what I did mostly for practical reasons. Has anyone else had regrets about the type of surgery they had. (I don't don't regret having surgery just which option I chose. )

Cheyenne, your sensitivity there may wane in time, but you can still use it. My surgery included a 'dimple', about 1 - 1/2 inches deep, and my specialist nurse suggested I use a vibrating toy to help maintain the structure, and done correctly, it feels nice! Initially my clitoris was too sensitive, but is has calmed down to also be enjoyable.

The one area I am not overjoyed with is residual erectile tissue in my mons pubis, which at times feels like an erection. This gives me a little dysphoria, but I had discussed it with my surgeon prior to surgery, and all vaginaplasties are done the same in this area as cis women also get 'hard' there and it is necessary for blood flow.

Hugs,

Allie

I also had a vulvoplasty.  I have no regrets about the type of surgery.  However, I have had a long, problematic recovery, with lots of ongoing pain.  It is gradually getting better now, three and a half years later.  If I had known back then how my recovery would go, I might have made a different choice - an orchie, perhaps - or then again I might not have.

With all the unpleasant sensations, especially when the erectile tissues get aroused, I have not tried to "play" with the new equipment.  It is hard to feel erotic when it all hurts.  But now that it is mostly better, I am kind of curious about the female orgasm, and I might take it out for a test drive one of these days.

Gosh, this makes for slightly sobering reading.

Yesterday I was approved onto the waiting list for MtF vaginoplasty but, and it's a big but, I'm left to make the decision about which type to go for.

Full depth?

or

Vulvoplasty aka Minimal Depth?

Up until recently I thought that, in my fifties now, it is hardly worth going for full depth. But I'm beginning to think that might be a mistake and that maybe I would quite like to be able to play down there. I'm not into men, but as my gender psychiatrist once told me, 'natal women have been known to insert things too you know'. ;)

I had an orchie about 6 years ago but although that really helped solve the testosterone issue, it hasn't removed the dysphoria. In fact, it's more than just dysphoria. It's a positive wanting to have my female sexual organs.

That's pretty much all I really 'need' in my case, although I don't think my testes are doing much because I'm quite estrogen dominate already. I don't have the other 'man part', as I was born without one.

Having depth would be nice, it would provide access to my internal parts I was born with (I'm intersex).

Again, at 60 years old does it really matter?

I initially thought the same as I had long term hypogonadism and the subsequent atrophy meant I had no external genitals,  just a mess of loose skin, but when I rang to discuss booking a consult it was like someone inside me took over and I had a surgical date penciled in for minimal depth vulvoplasty. Post surgery I couldn't believe how liberating it was. I rarely look down there now, but when I do, it is a good feeling to see the right anatomy there.
