Eyebrows?

I'm so nervous of wear to start. Do I try my self book In some where what do I ask for. I'm out to my supportive wife, but not the wider world yet. I want something more femine but that still looks OK for work. What do I ask for? Any advice would be greatly received, I only wear womans clothes now and taking it step by step. More of a non binary look at work. I'm on waiting list for gender referral.

Before you book an appointment somewhere, I'd experiment with your eyebrows at home. Eyebrows can make a huge amount of difference in someone's appearance, so I'd start by yourself to see what you like. I'm FtM but I still use an eyebrow pencil and colour because it has a big impact on my dysphoria.

My advice would be to find people who have a look that you're going for, and copy their eyebrows.

I take fashion inspiration from alot of classic rock stars, and I can change my eyebrow shape and thickness daily to get the look I'm going for.

In general, arched, and higher eyebrows are going to be seen as more feminine. Plucking your eyebrows can also achieve this look without ever having to use makeup. (Be careful plucking so you don't take too much.)

In the pictures below, you can see that Paul has very high, arched eyebrows, classically feminine. George has thick, heavy eyebrows, more classically masculine. (He's also wearing makeup, but it's not too much for his work. In meaning: it's very subtle.) Paul isn't wearing makeup, and even though he has (in my opinion) very feminine features, no body would give him a second glance.

It's possible to mix and match.

I hope this helped a little bit!

(By the way, If you're only wearing women's clothes now, the possibilities for eyebrows have opened much more. You could even try matching them to your outfit!)

I have been watching a ton of videos. What I am going to do is pluck them so they are thin, but only pluck from the bottom. The gap between the eye & eyebrow is bigger for women than men & women's is generally more curved.

I used AI to get an idea of how I should do my face. Then it's just a case of practicing.

What a world 2023 has paved. Who would have thought such things would be said! I'm in a similar boat, I have absolutely no idea what to do with my brows but pluck and trim. I feel like I need an aesthetician!

Getting my brows threaded is on my list for 2024. They are definitely the most dysphoric aspect of my face! I know men who have virtually no eyebrows at all so I don’t know why I hesitate to get them fixed. When I had a beard I would get comments about how bushy my brows were. I was always afraid to mess with them because of what that might say about my closeted internal transphobia. Time to tackle it head on!

I find it is a really good tool to use. It shows you a ton of different looks. The picture below, I have left gender on male (booo!), I have gone for maximum contouring to try & plump up my cheeks & get rid of the puffy eyes, dark circles & try to emphasise the eye area a bit more. Then it's just a little Mascara & a touch of lippy. Oh & I made my hair longer, only down to shoulder length (more realistic to get to) & dyed it red.

But you can see how the eyebrows have been done. That's why I will pluck from the bottom only to create that extra space & gradually make them thinner to create the curve.

End result, I think looks quite good. Enough to feminise but not so much that it looks draggy. I will have to do something about that whopper of a chin though. Get it rounded out & smaller, but this will do for now.

Yeah that's the one. I upgraded it to pro. It was like £5 for the month. But what you can do on it, its well worth it for me.

The first time I went for a hair coloring/styling after stopping the whole faux male act the stylist threw in an eyebrow waxing to make it just a little more affirming. So ever since I've been getting them waxed or threaded when they get too masculine. It's not that expensive and much easier than plucking with my eyesight and motor skills, especially dealing with the mirror. The bang for the buck is amazing.

I definitely agree with waxing or threading due to eyesight and motor skills. It not only makes me feel better about my femininity, but it also feels extremely therapeutic to have it done.

I need to get them done. I'll just go to a beauty shop. It could really mess it up if done wrong. I don't trust myself.

I hear that. And I love it when others do it, it's so relaxing.

Good morning, everyone!!   I got our porches and outdoor furniture power washed yesterday. Let the warm weather festivities begin!! Well, just in time for the cool rainy weather we're supposed to be getting for the next few days.   Not sure what I'll do today - with rain projected I'll be stuck inside, I guess.   Be safe and have fun on your adventure @awkward-yet-sweet!!

I'm a masculine woman. It's not about masculinity though. It's about expanding what it means to be a woman.

It never rains but it pours.  We had a dry spring, but now my garden is a swamp and my yard is a pond.  Get off the gravel road, and you'd need a hovercraft.    With nothing better to do, I'm going on a short trip with my husband tomorrow.  Since he's in management he usually doesn't do this sort of work, but whenever he does I usually go along.  And he already knows not to try staying in a hotel, because I want to sleep in the bunk in the truck.  So much more cozy.    And for a couple of days, GF can actually take care of her own kids instead of leaving them to me....

I have played clarinet, but without talent.  And while I *can* sing, I think listening to it would be an acquired taste.

Something that would help is reducing salt intake which causes the body to hold water and causes inflammation, another thing would be to add cardio to your exercise routine. Lowering your overall body fat will affect your face appearance. Hope this helps :)

Hi Sally, okay I'll head on over to your post and check out your makeup techniques.

Hey all,   It's been a while, but I blogged a whole series on makeup.  It's an eight-part series where I talk about my techniques.   Here is the link to Part 1:       Hopefully the blog series is helpful.

Oh, I can relate to that one Vicky, leaving lipstick in hot weather  I've lost count how many times I had to purchase new purses.

Thanks for the replies, as an admin from my own group I understand the same rules, agreed.

I do spoken word acting, and give Trans 101 talks and other public speaking.  I wear make-up for those occasions.  Sephora is easy for me to get to, and has a foundation that does a good job for me and the sales folks there are Trans Friendly.  Their eye shadow pallets are also fun to use. Another source of my foundation is Ulta which carries Dermablend that does a consistent job of my lower face and chin.   I just use good old Revlon lipsticks because I ruin them by leaving my purse in the hot car too often.

I'm not interested in makeup, jewelry or nice clothes or girly stuff.  It's made me wonder at times.   It saves some money.  If I wore a skirt it would likely  be denim.  I thought about a woman's skirt suit but nah.   Neither of my sisters are into that stuff either.  One likes peasant chic (still a 60s flower girl)  and the other - the only time she has ever worn a dress was at her wedding.  Jeans at all other times.   Jeans and t shirt here.  Content being a girl.  Weirdo. Weirda? Never mind.

@Ladypcnj Before posting links to other group's websites, PM one of the Staff (preferably an Admin) and have them check that site out.   We have specific rules here regarding age appropriateness and would need to know that the other site is in line with those rules.  We do have members here between 13 and 18 and other sites need to be safe for that age range, legally and otherwise.  Also, we are not a dating or pick-up site, not do we allow people selling things to advertise here.  As I said clear the link with a moderator or admin before posting it.  Mod's and admins do check out posts and if we find problem links we will remove them and notify the OP of a rules violation.  Go to https://www.transgenderpulse.com/community-rules to understand where we are.

I raise my hand in the group, I have a question and a suggestion... is it allowed to share other new lgbtq+ website links here?
