If you have Sephora stores there, you might want to check it out.  Me and many others here have found their "advisors" very supportive of the LGBT community and willing to help.

Ulta in your area is hopefully friendly. There is one in Minneapolis, I believe. Their trans positive podcast last year caused the anti-trans weirdos' brains to melt.

Remember that wherever you go, they are a business interested in making money, so if they are decent people they will not outwardly judge, as their primary motivation is business. If you are dealing with an employee who isn't an owner, especially at a corporate store, although they might not care about making the company money, there is a good chance that you're just another customer that day to them. I have seen men working at Ulta (not in Minneapolis...no idea how it is there) wearing makeup and all of the workers, men and women, have been kind and helpful. Finally, many people in the store are just going about their business and although they might briefly glance, they move on to do their own shopping in their little own world. Took me a long time to confront my fear of shopping in public, but these are the welcome things I've noticed.

Oooh!  that's great advice.  Thank you, @Carolyn Marie!   I went online and found a Sephora right where I will be traveling in the U.S. soon.  I think I will go check them out.
