This was just plain disgusting.

The Republican school board seriously lost the election, and then as their last act they passed a sports ban, and gave the superintendent (who quit after the election loss) a $700,000 goodby present.

I don't know how some people sleep at night.

A $700k severance is practically theft.  Here, that would be 7 years' pay for the superintendent.  I looked, and his regular salary had just been increased from $229l to $300k.  Ridiculous!  But what has been done can usually be undone in the new year. 

 

As for the school board, its no wonder they lost.  Republican candidates can't seem to figure out that the trans issue is a non-issue for most - an extreme waste of time when there's so many more important things to deal with.  School security, curriculum issues, and the nationwide problem of academic under-performance....those things would be a start.  Instead, we're talking about bathrooms, cat boxes, sports, and the tiny portion of the student population who might be transgender.  Blows my mind.
