Anyone else's hipbones sorta jut out of the rest of their lower body while they lay down or get a really clear view of their ribs while stretching?

...yeah I might need to put on some weight, preferably muscle weight...

...hmmm maybe I'll start working out tomorrow I don't feel like doing [squid] right now.

*Never does it*

Actually though I need to start exercising more I'm a couch potato- or a bed potato, I spend more time in my bed than on my couch. Any tips for getting the motivation?

Under pressure from my parents I was to try to look as masculine as possible. That was impossible since I had breasts and very wide hips.

My parents signed me up for every sport available, and I sucked at all of them except tennis and cross-country bike riding.

I spend years playing tennis once a week with friends, then I made myself a schedule to ride my bike daily. My goal was to complete a race, and I reached that goal several times.

My late teens and early 20's I was quite healthy and decent muscles.

Disclaimer: I did not however rid myself of my wide hips and bubble butt. It seems that is more based on bone structure underneath.

I just had to get used to 'wolf whistles' from passing cars.

If your goal is too be healthy, and it should be. Bike riding is a very good way to get there. Just don't get expectations too high.

Set easy goals, then slowly work up. Maybe a quick ride about the neighbourhood, then slowly increase the distance as that becomes easier for you.

One of the things that has motivated me to is because my gender dysphoria is so bad that I feel the need to take care of myself. I don't really do any workouts without weights. I do more cardio not running yet but I do walk for about 30-60 minutes.

That initial spurt of motivation often needs to be pure will. After that, as you build a habit, motivation becomes more natural. You begin to look forward to exercising because you have experienced how good it makes you feel (and look) and how it gives you energy. You may not feel energized by exercise at first - the body has to get used to it. In fact you may feel more tired, so be patient. While you're in potato mode, read or watch something inspiring like the biography or documentary of a professional or amateur athlete to help your motivation. And like others said, start with small goals and build up. Hey, why not see if the transboy who recently befriended you at school would be interested in exercising together. Having a workout buddy is great motivation as you help to keep each other accountable & also a great way to bond.

Its tough to get motivated towards physical activity.  I always had my sister to go with.  We played soccer in high school, and until Covid came along we went to the same gym every morning.  I haven't been as active since then.  The gym we went to was female-only, which was nice...while I was still a female.  I doubt they'd bother me about my more androgynous appearance these days, but I haven't made the effort.  My sister can't really go anyway, as she's a deputy sheriff now and her schedule isn't nearly as flexible as it used to be.

You mention bones... I can't seem to put on any healthy weight.  My ribs are definitely visible when stretching, and I'm officially underweight at the moment, which is weird considering the volume of food I eat.  I wonder how much of it has to do with a mostly plant-based diet?  What do you usually have for meals and snacks?

Thanks for the tips ^-^

@awkward-yet-sweet I usually skip breakfast since it makes me sick to eat it, I have a taco bowl for lunch most days and then whatever we're having that night for dinner (usually veggies, a grain, and some sort of meat/protein). I usually snack a bit, but I sometimes just forget to.

Yeah, I'm not much for breakfast either.  Don't force yourself if its not your thing.  The idea that "breakfast is the most important meal" is literally just corporate propaganda meant to sell cereal.  Heard of the Kellogg brand?  Well, this guy started it:   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Harvey_Kellogg

And Kellogg was a fan of all sorts of icky stuff, from segregation to eugenics to shoving yogurt up your butt.  No, that's not a typo...apparently people thought that was a good idea.  🙄  But if you're not eating breakfast, your lunch and dinner probably need to be larger to compensate.  Add bacon...its always a good start, right?

Update: I got the motivation to start yesterday, I'll be trying to keep it up, probably will take a couple weeks to make it a habit ❤️

This doesn't work for everyone, but here's my advice:

Find something you enjoy doing, and then you'll get fit without needing to dread 'working out.'

For me, I absolutely adore dancing, and lifting weights. Dancing, though very tiring, never feels like exercise. I'm working towards a goal of getting a new move down, or getting better at a previous one. (I'm much too scared to go to the gym,) so I have weights at my home that I can use to workout.

I workout more in a fantasy than in real life. For example: I pretend that I'm Rocky and am training for a big fight when I lift weights. Some days I pretend that I'm part of a world-famous boyband and need to get some cool new dance moves down before a show.

It sounds funny but it really works.

I don't know if any of this will help, but It has aided me and I thought I'd at least mention it.

I really don't think that's a good idea. The unity of the LGB and T community is historic and has been central for both groups rights. And the vast majority of people advocating for splitting the two are transphobic LGB's who are broadly condemned by the community anyway.

A bit late in updating, but I've had the draft of the official diagnosis and have (as yet unconfirmed) an endo consultation next month.   Next to arrive will be the supporting documentation for my new passport application for my correct gender.  This will then be my official ID for all the other updates - bank, tax, payroll etc.   It just feels good to to be proactive again rather than waiting for other people to move at a leisurely pace.

I like ELF brand cosmetics, I can pick them up at JC Penny.    I wear makeup everyday, but mostly just very light makeup.

Hi Mae Be, whenever it comes to makeup, there are so many different bands to choose from. Picking out the right makeup comes with trial and error, until you find one that works for you and blends well with your skin tone, some makeup products can leave the skin feeling oily. It's a good idea to look at the labels on the makeup product to know what the creators put in the makeup, just in case skin allergies. Once you found the makeup brand, you can add it to your shopping list, good luck

To be fair I’m pretty lost when it comes to makeup technique. I’ve watched videos, but I have no idea what works for or would help my features. So I just bungle along, hoping I don’t look terrible.
