Hello from Maryland

Hello everyone! I am a transgender person living in Maryland. I am also a professor in an university here.  I just came out to my department and some friends but still struggling to come out to some family members. My partner is very supportive and we are trying to navigate this journey. I am not on any medicine yet (just hair removal).  I wanted to say hi and looking forward to make friends in this lovely group.

Welcome @Zoeyy! I’m glad you’ve joined us. It’s wonderful to read that your partner is an ally. This is such a blessing and very helpful for you. So many in our community traverse this journey without such a close ally. It’s hard enough working through the difficulties that come with moving forward. Thankfully, your partner will be alongside you on each path taken during your journey.

The question about ‘gender therapy’ asked by @April Marie is so important. It was such a help for me during my ‘coming out’ period and my early transition. It can increase the chance of success of not only your overall journey but the relationship with your partner. Therapy can often help us avoid unseen potholes and roadblocks as you both navigate through your journey together. We are here to help you in many of these same ways.

Thanks for sharing a part of your story. I hope to read more and you and your journey as things progress.

Warmest Rehards,

Susan R🌷
