Actress Tommy Dorfman Accuses Delta Airlines Employees of Transphobia

Hopefully her videos were sent to the airline's management  BEFORE she put them to the public.  Just a matter of proper behavior in my poor deranged brain.  I am one who has found, that if you are as presentable as she is that if you are misgendered, it is the person misgendering you that others around you will find as the strange and out of bounds individual.  Granted it has taken me a good many years to get here, but audience choice is not usually against me.  I do sense a bit of ego on her part that is not acceptable carry-on baggage even to old Trans Granny here.

Yeah,

I saw this video. The question in my mind is whether there was something said or done before the Delta guy's response. The other equation is voice quality and intentional misgendering. Before voice therapy and voice feminization surgery, I would get misgendered. You can be a cisgender female who has facial hair from polycystic ovaries, but if you sound female, you will not get misgendered. Turn that around and look incredibly female, but sound like a guy...well, be prepared to be misgendered.

I find the misgendering hurtful, and I have experienced something very similar to what Tommy Dorfman experienced. Over 16 months ago I was in the process of getting all of my credit cards issued in my new legal name. I ran into a rep one night that was over the top nasty, and kept calling me sir as I tried to explain getting a new legal name change. I was so fed up, I contacted the credit card companies CEO. I emailed him that night, and by the next day, I had an apology, and my accounts changed. It was not fun having to go through that.

I personally have never had any issue at any airport. I know the TSA supervisor at my local regional airport and her folks have always been courteous before, during an after my transition. I feel good about that.

I am not a big fan of Delta in general. It will be interesting to see how Delta responds. I had another similar run in at a Kohl's department store. I complained to corporate. They never did anything to the employee. Kohl's offered me a $50 dollar gift certificate.

I think the video is missing some context.  I'd like to see what happened in the minutes beforehand.  To me, it seemed like the Delta employee in the clip is tripping over his automatic gender-related words, and correcting himself.  Which is understandable in some situations, especially an argument.

Personally, I don't see a reason to even bother arguing with somebody about my gender.  Call me whatever, I really don't care as long as I mostly get what I want.  Unlike some (my GF, for example), I also don't feel very motivated to use a conflict situation to get some sort of financial advantage.  Not at all saying that's what this actress did, but I know that some folks get pushy as a way to get something free out of a store or service provider.

As for Delta - yep, they're pretty much the worst airline out there.  And most airlines are pretty awful.  The Delta employee displayed classic airline employee attitude.  "Do what I say or else."  Its pretty much been that way since 9/11 in the USA.  Comply or get evicted (or beaten, tased, or shot by the cops.) It amazes me that people continue to fly in spite of being treated like cattle.  Smaller regional airports seem to be better, and short-hop flights seem to have more courteous staff.  Big cities?  Yuck.

Thanks Davie! And don’t worry, I didn’t take it that way. It’s just such a big topic I can only hope to tackle it one bit at a time.

This is not uncommon.  I started out going to the therapist in androgynous clothing: from the women's department, but plausibly masculine.  What made it easier was when I started going to a trans peer support group.  Most of the people there were presenting fully feminine, so I looked out of place in my androgynous clothing.  The peer pressure made it easier to dress in skirts.   I started out changing in a gender-neutral bathroom near the meeting room.  But I soon started wearing skirts in the car to and from the meetings.   Yes, it was nerve-wracking at first, but I soon realized that no one was looking and no one cared.    You can do this.

In my last session my therapist is starting to suggest that I need to start exploring my gender identity in a more tangible way through wearing feminine clothing at least during sessions.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her seeing me actually en femme.   I love and trust her, but the thought of being visibly feminine is scaring (and thrilling) me.  Is this a common thing in gender therapy?  How do I get past the fear?  More importantly, what should I wear?

USA doctors denounce Cass Report, support trans folks.  The Endocrine Society And American Academy Of Pediatrics Respond To Cass, Reject Bans. In recent weeks, the Cass Review out of the United Kingdom has been used to argue for bans on care. I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.
