I couldn't begin to say.  You have to figure it out yourself.  You can take your time, you know.  I used a different name for several years, till I settled on Ivy for my legal name.

Thanks but Im just looking for what others think. Of course ultimately Im going to go with what my heart leads me to but Im just curious what others think also.

My thought is that you need to decide whether you are comfortable with having to spell your name for others all the time. I think "Charlie" is probably the most common spelling. So, if you choose either of the others, you'll always have to specify the spelling (or at least append "with a Y") every time you need to give your name to conduct some business. My surname at birth was not particularly complicated, but also not very common, and people always spelled and pronounced it wrong. So, when I'd give my name when asked, I'd always preemptively spell it out (and people would STILL spell it wrong). When I got married, I changed my surname to my husband's for several reasons, one of which was that it's a more common name which most people ought to be able to say and spell. Now, it's a small luxury to just say the name and not have to spell it when going about my business. Just something to think about.

@Vidanjali Hey, thanks for the input. You make some valid points about the spelling. But I already have to spell my last name to everyone anyway, and yes, they still often get it wrong too, despite the fact that it is only two common 3 letter words joined together. But, ultimately, I decided to go with the formal spelling of Charleigh for legal documents, drivers license, etc, but use either Charlie or Charley in casual settings...whichever the other person feels like using. I just like the elegance of Charleigh and it feels more feminine to me....so thats what Im going with. Thanks again for your feedback and advice...hope you have a great day!!

I love the name Charleigh, and spelled that way makes me want to soften the way I say it ... more like Shar-lay than Tcharly.

You may want to just go with Charlie. You are already using it, and it zings.

Yea, as I said for casual convo like here and between friends and family etc, I will use Charlie but I cant miss out on the beauty and elegance of Charleigh....may be my close English roots but it just sound like a name for a Princess.... Princess Charleigh.
