I have been trying to listen to more instrumental music because it's not really the sort of stuff I listen to (I like my music for it's lyrics!)

 

that said, I really like atlantis by the shadows- maybe more for the fact it was used on radio atlantis (the onld pirate station), and less for the fact it's instrumental

 

I also like man of action. again, probably more because it was the theme for RNI (radio north sea international)

 

I like the theme music from jurassic park and indiana jones, actually you can't really go wrong with anything by john williams.

 

I also like the music from the lion king, and recently came across vivaldi's  four seasons and I love the spring section

 

oh: and the music from downton abby. I think that's like the only instrumental album I  own

Oh Heather Shay you got me goin' now.I just gave a listen to 'soul sacrifice' Woodstock '69 and that was awesome.Almost every thing they did was awesome like the beautiful 'Samba Pa Ti'

Also had a listen to 'Black Mountain Side' Led Zep'.I was a fan growing up but hadn't heard that one before.Have to say it was really good.

Atlantis 63 has mentioned Vivaldi which is fantastic music but my favorite in that genre would be anything from J.S. Bach especially an album called 'Julian Bream plays Bach'

when I was a kid, I had a music teacher absolutely obsessed with classical music, and I think that's where my.. well, not hatred (because I do like some of it), but my opinion of it comes from. she'd make us hear it so much it just got annoying, and then she'd ask questions about it

Way too many instrumental pieces to list, but I am particularly fond of:

 

Movie scores (especially those by Williams and Hans Zimmer);

Television theme music;

Classical music of all kinds, especially baroque and chamber music;

Classical guitar music, especially Spanish guitar;

Some jazz;

Many of the great rock & roll instrumentals, including those by Dire Straits, the Ventures, Booker T & The MGs., Santana, Mason Williams, etc;

I’m a bit of a gamer, and I love Final Fantasy. The series’ original composer, Nobuo Uematsu, has come up with some masterpieces. The orchestra ‘Distant Worlds’ have released a bunch of albums playing his music from those games. They’re my ultimate switch off/ relaxation music.   
 

Other than that, there are a lot of game and film soundtracks that I love.
