Traveling to New Orleans

I'm traveling to New Orleans in a couple of weeks from out of the US. I am not yet full time, but would like to out in the city as myself. Is this a safe thing to do there, especially given the anti-trans attitudes growing in the US?

There are two LGBTQ Centers in Baton Rouge La that you can contact who may have some idea.  New Orleans especially during MardiGras is pretty loose and non-judgmental as to what others may consider a costume.  The state as a whole flunked the Human Rights Campaign test for LGBTQ Equality however.

Thanks for feedback Vicky. Was hoping to get out, do some shopping, and perhaps some photography as myself while there.
