Open Invitation to TGP Members for Zoom Meet-Ups

Recommended Posts

  • Forum Moderator

Some of our TGP forum members here have already had the chance to join in on one or more of our previous Zoom meet-ups. They’ve been taking place every Saturday evening. Another Zoom meeting was added to accommodate another group on the occasional Tuesday evening these past 6 months. The Tuesday meetings were added so that new TGP forum members might join in the fun. Several of you have shown interest in attending these but for one reason or another have not been available to attend. This open invite will hopefully encourage those members on the fence and others curious about them to reach out and give it a go.

These Zoom meetings are a wonderful opportunity for us all to experience the same affirming atmosphere we’ve all experienced on the TGP general forum. For some that have attended, it was first time they were able to be themselves in a worry free public setting. For others, it has been a time to share a small part of our week with accepting open arms. It’s a very low-key drama-free experience.

If you haven’t yet attended a Trans Zoom meeting, I encourage you to give it a try…at least once. It can be such a liberating experience. There’s absolutely no pressure to speak during the meeting or even have your camera on. So Yes! You’re always welcome to join our meetings with your camera and mic OFF. Feel free to keep your speakers on and listen to the ongoing discussion. If later you decide you’d like to chime in on a topic that interests you, just turn on your mic and click on the “Raise Hand button. The host or last speaker will call on you as soon as there’s a break. Alternatively, you can always turn your camera ON and physically raise your hand if that’s your preference. It’s that easy and relaxed. Best of all, you’re among many of the same friends you converse with here on our TGP forum.

Here’s another nice thing about these meet-ups. You can show up anytime during the 3 or 4 hour streaming session and stay as long or as short as you like. People drop in and out at random times….sometimes just to say hi and check in with the group. The whole thing is very fluid and diverse like almost everyone in attendance. These meetings are a great opportunity for us all to add a perspective on any of the multiple topics we might be discussing during the 3 or 4 hours it’s streaming. There’s no pressure, whatsoever, for anyone to share anything. Most eventually have something to say as they feel the friendliness and inviting atmosphere within the group.

Lastly, these meetings are a safe space to experiment with parts of your transition. Everyone in attendance encourages testing out new gestures, practicing your voice, trying a new hairstyle or wig or mustache, putting on your new favorite makeup or outfit. Alternatively, just come as you are. The point of these meetings is to be comfortable in whatever presentation you prefer and to get to know some of those you know here in an inclusive affirming environment.

The weekday Trans Zoom meet-ups will be resuming again soon. Until that time, TGP members interested (and available) to attend an upcoming Saturday Evening anytime between 6pm-9pm Pacific Standard Time, please PM me for more information.

Susan R🌷

PLEASE NOTE: These Zoom meetings are available for those TGP members over the age of 18.

For any of our members here who might be reluctant to join in one of the Zoom sessions, they are low key, fun, informative and you can interact as little or as much as you feel comfortable doing.

The first Tuesday Zoom meeting was my first time that anyone had "seen" me outside of my wife and therapist. And, because I am so relatively new to transitioning and am moving slowly, I don't always have a lot to offer.

Don't let that stop you. Everyone has been amazingly supportive, friendly and tolerant. I've learned so much and just have plain had fun talking with other men and women from our forums.

I hope some of you will join us!!!

I'd encourage everyone to check out the zoom meetings.  I have been a regular on the Saturday night zoom since it started.  I don't often say a lot - I'm not a talkative person - and I have to sign off early to avoid a late night because I am in the Atlantic Time Zone, but they are a highlight of my week.

And, once again, in my coffee depleted state when I originally responded, I inadvertently limited the participants I've interacted with.  I enjoy interacting with everyone across the spectrum of our community, no matter their gender identification.

Join in and help enrich each others' lives.

@Michelle_S told me she might like to be added to the Zoom invite group if there is room.

Michelle, please respond to this thread or the PM I sent you if you want to join the Zoom group.

That was my oversight. I’m very sorry. I was sure I had added you and Jet and when I signed out of the Zoom meeting just now, I came on here and noticed I had missed you both. I tagged you in the PM itself but forgot to add you. :(

Tonight at 6PM Pacific Time there will be another Trans Zoom Meeting. If anyone thinking of attending, please PM me to be added to the list so you get the Zoom Meeting Link.

Just a refresher: These meetings continue for 3 to 4 hours with members of our community dropping in and out during the entire duration. Feel free to drop in at anytime and leave at anytime. It’s nice touch base and meet others who understand where we are and how we got here!

Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.

I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.

Come see what it's like!!

Change. I am so -censored- tired of change, and what I've just started in the last month with identifying and working through all of my . . . stuff . . . around gender dysphoria represents a level of change I dread and am terrified of.   2005 to 2019 feel like a pretty stable time period for me. Not a whole lot of change happened within me. I met someone, got married, had three kids with them. Struggled like hell with anxiety and depression but it was . . . ok. And then my spouse died (unexpectedly, brief bout with flu and then gone) and the five years since have been an unrelenting stream of change. I cannot think of a single way in which I, the person writing this from a library table in 2024, am in any way the same person who sat in an ICU room with my dying spouse 5 years ago. I move different, speak different, dress different, think different, have different goals, joys, and ambitions. And they are all **good.** but I am tired of the relentless pace of change and as much as I want and need to figure out my dysphoria and what will relieve the symptoms (am I "just" gender fluid, am I trans masc? no -censored- clue at the moment) I dread it at the same time. I just want to take a five year nap and be done with it.

I'm Amanda, and after 57 years of pretending to be a male crossdresser, I've recently admitted to myself that I'm a woman. It's pretty wild. I don't think that I've ever had a thought that was as clearly true and right, as when I first allowed myself to wonder, "wait, am I actually trans?"   The hilarious part is that I owe that insight to my urologist, and a minor problem with a pesky body part that genetic women don't come equipped with (no, not that one). I'll spare you the details, but the end result was him talking about a potential medication that has some side effects, notably a 1% chance of causing men to grow breasts. The first thought that bubbled up from the recesses of my mind was, "wow, that would be awesome!"   <<blink>><<blink>> Sorry, what was that again?   That led down a rabbit hole, and a long, honest conversation with myself, followed by a long, honest conversation with my wife. We both needed a couple of weeks, and a bit of crying and yelling, to settle in to this new reality. Her biggest issue? Several years ago, she asked me if I was trans, and I said, "no". That was a lie. And honestly, looking back over my life, a pretty stupid one.   I'm really early in the transition process - I have my first consultation with my doctor next week - but I'm already out to friends and family. I'm struggling with the "do everything now, now now!" demon, because I know that this is not a thing that just happens. It will be happening from now on, and trying to rush won't accomplish anything useful. Still, the struggle is real . I'm being happy with minor victories - my Alexa devices now say, "Good morning, Amanda", and I smile each and every time. My family and friends are being very supportive, after the initial shock wore off.   I'm going to need a lot of help though, which is another new thing for me. Being able to ask for help, that is. I'm looking forward to chatting with some of you who have been at this longer, and also those of you who are as new at this as I am. It's wild, and intoxicating, and terrifying... and I'm looking forward to every second of it.   Amanda Joy

Rain here. I went to Asheville yesterday, and stayed later to visit some before going down the mountain.  Down here there were a lot of trees down in the northern part of the county.  The power had gone off at the house, but was back by the time I got home (21:00).  There was a thunderstorm during the night.

I used to get ma'am'ed during my 45 years of boy-mode and it drove me nuts.    Now that I have accepted girl-mode I find it quite pleasant.    Either way, being miss gendered is quite disturbing. I upon a rare occasion might get sir'ed by strangers and it's quite annoying.

Good morning Ash,    Welcome to TransPulseForums, I have a young neighbor who plays several brass instruments who lives behind my house. He is always practicing and I could listen to them for hours, well I guess I have listened to them for hours, and my favorite is when they play the low tones on the French Horn.    Best wishes,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Good morning everyone,    I had my first cup of coffee this morning with my wife, my second was a 20oz travel mug on the way to the airport. Once clearing TSA, I bought another 20oz to pass the time at the boarding gate. I’m flying Indy to Baltimore, then driving to Wilmington, DE for my last teaching engagement at the DE State Fire School.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

In my opinion, the gender neutral version of sir or ma'am is the omission of such honorifics.   "Excuse me, sir" becomes simply, "Excuse me", or better yet, "Excuse me, please."   "Yes, ma'am" becomes "Yes", or depending on the context, "Yes, it would be my pleasure" or "Yes, that is correct."   Else, to replace it with a commonly known neutral term such as friend, or credentialed or action-role-oriented term depending on the situation such as teacher, doctor, driver, or server.   And learn names when you can. It's a little known fact that MOST people are bad with names. So if you've ever told someone, "I'm bad with names", you're simply affirming you're typical in that way. A name, just like any other factoid, requires effort to commit to memory. And there are strategies which help.
    • Mmindy
@KymmieL it’s as if our spouses are two sides of the same coin. We never know which side will land up. Loving or Disliking.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

almost 45 min later. Still in self pity mode. I cannot figure out my wife. I shared a loving post on Facebook to my wife. Today she posts, you are my prayer. Yet, last week she puts up a post diragitory towards trans people. Does she not relate to me being trans?   ???
