Good Medieval, Middle Ages, History 'based' Movies

When I say that I mean Hollywood ones are fine. Something with knights, old rebellions and such. Not cowboy ones though(fall asleep in front of cowboy style movies)...just before that. Those are the ones I enjoy the most. Like Braveheart, Troy, Alexander, Highlander(ok Highlander doesn't really count, but sort of does), exc.

I've been looking for more to watch, I've seen more then I listed, but I don't remember them off the top of my head. I'm happy reading books but sometimes you just want to sit back and watch the good old Hollywood movies - watch the action, sights and stare at the actors.

Errol Flynn's Robinhood

Ladyhawke if you don't mind a bit of fantasy

The Lion in Winter (1968) Peter O'Toole and Katherine Hepburn

Those were good ones!

You might want to add El Cid Starring Charlton Heston.

Saint Joan, the 1957 version with Jean Seberg

Excalibur it's based on Sir Thomas Malory's LE MORTE D'ARTHUR - stunning visuals and a soundtrack using a lot of Wagner - pretty good really from 1981.

There is an old movie from 1935 called The Crusades by DeMille (you know the Ten Commandments)

I might remember others but that should keep you busy for a bit - just finding some of these.

Love ya,

Sally

Thanks Victoria, that one sound neat...I haven't watched anything yet because of school and my new game. But I'm happy to have these to fall back on. Sword Of Valour sounds cool. It didn't bring any movies up right away when I 'googled' it but I'll do more research into that one...It might be the first I watch. :P

what's the one based on the Umberto Eco book with Sean Connery in it? I'm too lazy to look it up, but that was really good. Connery plays a benedictine monk or something i think. there's a castrated dude. and black tongues. it was cool. that's not quite medieval though.

I was thinking about that one and you got here first - it was another of the Ron Pearlman amazing make up movies!

He started in Quest For Fire as a cave man then went to TV as the beast in series Beauty and the Beast, then the deformed monk in The Name of the Rose and on to Hell Boy.

I can't watch the series Sons of Anarchy because he isn't in make up, just a beard!

I watched that and thought it was ok. I don't think there was enough hot looking guys for me to really enjoy it, though.

Man for All Seasons was pretty good, if you haven't gotten to it since it's been posted. If you only like stuff w/ hot guys in it..well most of the main characters are guys. lol.

Also all those Shakespeare theatre productions they did in like the 70's? British Theatre or something? I was never much of a Shakespeare fan though so I couldn't tell you for sure. lol. Something I had to watch in school :P

Oh, I also saw 300 (idk if that's even considered medieval...?) I actually didn't care for it cuz the effects seemed too fake to be believable, made it cheesy. but i didn't realize first time around that lena headey was in it so I wanna watch it again :P Most people I've spoken to liked it though. I'm just weird I guess haha.

also i did some googling for you :)

"Exstatic" is an adjective that means feeling great rapture or delight. For example, "His wife gave birth to their first child, and he was ecstatic about it". Synonyms of "ecstatic" include rapturous, entranced, enthusiastic, and frenzied.

Absolutely. Being able to encourage, to help, others is so empowering. I've been helped by so many people over the years, I love being able to pay it forward.

Good morning, everyone!!   A busy day ahead for me - need to cut the grass and then pick up the clippings. The grass grows so quickly this time of year. I cut almost 7 acres so that will take up most of my day. At least I can get some sun on my legs and arms!!   Time for another cup of coffee as I catch up here.   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.
    • April Marie
I started shaving my legs years ago - I started getting an occasional mild contact rash on my shins. That became my excuse to shave them for both me and my wife. Over time, the rash didn't expand...but my shaving did. Full legs....groin......chest......and finally my arms. Keeping the rash at bay was my excuse until I came out to my wife. Now I typically do a full shave on Sunday mornings. The hair is lighter but I just feel better with it gone - it helps with the dysphoria and dysmorphia. I will also typically do a chest touch-up mid week since I notice the growth more there.   I wish someone would invent a pill that would stop hair growth everywhere except on your head.

Good morning.   im not sure where the time went.  I had a decent nights sleep,  didn’t  tell Alexa to let me sleep another 5 minutes,  I didn’t do anything extra but it’s almost time to leave and I just got here.  Definitely only a one cup morning.    I have the overhead console out of the Ford. It needed some repairs with toothpicks and glue.  Been sitting all night t for the glue to harden. I’m always to impatient with glue but not this time.  I want it to hold. Ok the next owner won’t be able to change the lightbulbs however in my defense, the are led so they will likely still work when the car goes to the salvage yard.   gotta go. Not as much on my plate at work today but it’s always busy.   Willow

Yes, my programmer friends and I think that antivirus software is a virus.  It's constantly searching your system and slowing it down.  If you install your own OS and software on your machine, and you make backups of your personal files, then you can recover from viruses in an hour or two.  My computer is 10+ years old and is working as good as the first day I had it.   As long as my computer is doing what I want it to do, I don't care if someone is spying on my system.

If you get a ticket, always say not guilty and go to court. Much of the time, the officer will not show up, and often the district attorney or the judge will not want to take the time. They ticket harvest because most people just agree to the fine and send them a check by mail.   If you are not a commercial driver, Most states also have a ticket forgiveness program. You take a little easy Driver's Ed Course, and it doesn't go on your record or increase your insurance prices. Explore your options!
