"classic Transsexual"/what My Mom Thinks

ok so my moms trying to find info on transsexuals and there only one description on there which ive heard described as a "classic transsexual" whcih seems text book like it would come out of a medical book but i dnt think and i know transsexuals or people for that matter are text book at all so i was wondering if theres other info out there that would help her understand more cuz she seems to think that you cant be transgender unless you follow the stuff shes found

"Classic" or "True" transsexual are obsolete terms period. A good book for parents is:

I do remember reading in old books about how the medical community used to define transsexualism. In order to be a "true" transsexual, you had to

1. have strong cross gender identification

2. want female anatomy

3. not be sexually attracted to females.

Number 3 is no longer used as criteria , now that we know how gender identity and sexual orientation are independent.

And you have to be hyper-feminine to be a transwoman either.

thanks i know gender identity can come at any age but i dont think she knows but its not like it just poped up in my head recently i figured it out round 5 or 6

i was also wondering if the COGIATI tests might help convince her
