My Face

Sometimes I think, while I stare and blink,

Off into space, with a different face,

One that's happy, maybe even a little sappy,

One not so grim, not even on a whim,

During those times, I don't feel so alone,

I feel more like me, in flesh and bone,

It's a good feeling, from the floor to the ceiling,

These daydreams I have, they're like a path,

The path to freedom, the path to bliss,

Where I'm coming from, I'm sure I won't miss,

Because where I'm going, I'll really be showing,

My true face, the one that's been inside,

For years and years, been trying to hide,

But now has a chance, to show its true pride,

I start for a jump, a skip, and a twirl,

And with this face, I make my mark on the world,

And then I go back, this time to help,

Not as the victim, the one who will yelp,

But as the person, giving their love,

I'll be there, I won't push, I won't shove,

I just want to be there, and be there I will,

Because that is my face, that is my skill.
