Hello, my name is Jack. I am a parent, and my six year old son has expressed a desire for long hair two years ago. I saw no problem in the idea, and we have allowed his hair to grow. But recently he has begun to say that he is a girl. I have looked around for information concerning this matter, and have decided to join this site due to its popularity. I hope I can find help and advice here. Thank you.

Good evening, Jack....

Welcome to the forum.

I think that it's a wonderful thing that you're here to try to get a grip on what is going on with your child. It's not easy on the parents.

But, by coming here you've got a good start to learning some more about what is happening.

There are other parents here that I am sure will say "Hi" to you soon, so be sure to post all that you'd like...

It's really nice to have you here, Jack.....

Thank you all for your welcoming replies

Is it possible to change my display name? The 'l' on the end should have been a capital 'L'. ONL is an abbreviation. My brothers and a few of our friends came up with it years ago, but it is a secret. A group of grown men keeping this a secret is embarrassing, but none of us have told anyone!

Howdy, welcome. I'm glad you found the site. Not sure what's going on with your child. He could indeed be transgendered or he could be a six year old that enjoys "playing" a girl for a little while. Truthfully, only a specialist will be able to tell you. Either way , looking for information and other peoples experience is a GREAT start. The most important thing is that you are involved and care about your child and obviously you do. Hope you find some answers and also some support.

Hello JackONL,

I'm so glad that you have come here to learn more and be supportive of your child.

It is so good to see a parent that is so concerned about thier child's welfare, it is not an easy thing to deal with but starting at an early age if you do find that your child is indeed transgendered it will be such a benifit to deal with it early and with the love of the father.

I am so happy to welcome you to the family.

Love ya,

Sally
