LOL, I'm only that creative when I'm not trying to be in the least. If I have to be, forget it.

idk how i thought of it I guess my mind is just perpetually trapped in a very deep gutter.

I wish I could have come up with your response. That is classic. Can I borrow that sometime when someone asks me how I came up with mine?

I didn't make it up I just couldn't think of a name due to my lack of creativity when trying to be very creative. So it just kinda... POP! lol.

You can borrow it as long as I still get to use it and it would still sound original :D

I don't know, I want a name that has meaning..which reminds me, I was also trying to find one that means "masculine" or "virile" or something..besides Andrew b/c that's just boring lol.

I guess I was lucky in having a birth name that is a feminised version of a male name (my birth name is Martine). Marty was my nickname when I was a teenager - it's unisex enough for now!

So out of curiousity, how did you choose your "new" name? I got mine, Linus, as a nickname from when I was a kid by my aunt. She called me Linus after the Peanuts character because even at a young age, I had adult answers rather than kid answers to questions.

So what is the meaning or reason for your name?

My folks thought they were having a baby boy. They had the name, Garrett-Michael picked out. Low and behold, a baby girl is what they got! I chose the name that my parents had originally picked out for their baby boy(well, 41 years later!!) I go by Mike most of the time.

Mom thought she was having a boy, and they planned on naming me Calvin, after Calvin and Hobbes. (:

I turned out to be a girl with a heavily confusing name - Kerridwen. Try saying that three times fast. *cluckles* I picked a lot of different names; Calvin, Theodore, Antony, KC, Casey, etc. I really don't know where Sparrow came from. I was drawing a funny little creature with a horse skull on a greyhound body - really weird looking - and scrawled the name Sparrow next to it. I guess it just clicked then, he and I were alike in more ways than one. (:

I am rubbish at decisions, and I have no idea what to call myself.

I like Jasper..but I dunno, lol.

Any suggestions on where I can find names? Or anything like that?

There are loads of websites online. One you might check out is behindthename.com . They have the usual names and meanings, but they also collect a lot of other data about each name, like popularity over the years, and they have a rating mechanism so you can see what other people's impressions are of each name, if that interests you.

I just kind of tried names on in my head until I found one that felt right. My brothers and my sister (and I) all have really traditional first names, so I wanted to stick with that. I experimented with Padraic for awhile, but that can be shortened to Paddy, which then sounds like Patti, which is short for Patricia, so that was no good. I also tried Fearghas, Seamás, and Breandán, but none of those really fit. I dunno really, Pól just worked. It's short, which is nice, and people who don't speak Irish can pronounce it without butchering it too badly, usually. Colm, my middle name, is a saint's name. I'm considering changing my last name, or at least anglicising it. It kind of depends on where my relationship with my family goes. I might keep it to honor my grandparents. It's just hard to spell and impossible for non-Irish people to pronounce. It's really not that difficult ... but I think the "bh" in the middle is what confuses people. Obviously, "bh" = "v" .

@ My Genesis ... that 'test' is pure brilliant. I actually laughed when I read that. It's true though...lol

I guess this is actually a pretty good place to start.

My names Charles-Tyrone.

Charles has kinda been ever present and has been with me for like a year and a day. its just something i have been called in all sorts of varations.

Started with Chuckie in the rugrats coz we had very similar glasses, then moved over and it was more about the Chuckie from child's play, i guess we have our similarities too. I didnt mind chuckie as a name you know, but it always felt kinda young so if figured Charles is much more grown up.

I Had an ex who insisted on calling me charlie, hated that, just never fit with me. Charles has become something im used to but i think that my life has changed alot over the last few years. I guys thats why the change to Tyrone, however i couldnt let Charles go.

So Charles-Tyrone it is. or sometimes CT as its such a mouth full!

For some reason I keep falling back on Bradley...I really like the way it "sounds" :D

...but then I know this guy named Bradley who works at my school and he's like 30, and he just had his third kid, so that just made it kinda weird..lol...so I decided maybe I should look for a different name...maybe a more unique one?

I really want to find one now for YouTube, it's weird when you have a membership on there, and your little youtuber groupies know each other's names, but you don't have one.

If it feels right, I think you should go with it. There's nothing wrong with having a common name. And for pretty much any name you choose, there will be someone else who has that name, anyway. Honestly, I think unique names are overrated . A lot of times, they're hard to spell and hard to pronounce. That's just my own personal opinion though, if you want a unique name, then go for it. But don't not choose Bradley just because you know someone by the same name. There's too many people in the world to use that as a make-or-break criterion.

if you like Bradley, I'd go with it. There's never going to be a perfect name, so if you're holding out for that you may as well go around introducting yourself as anonymous or something. Once you go with the name you'll get used to it and probably like it; it's never going to be perfect but it'll be yours. But in order to find a name you have to try them out in conjunction with yourself. Trust me, thinking of the name and actually having it are very different things. I understand not wanting the same name as someone you know, but unless you guys talk a lot and he'd notice I don't think it'd be a problem. Unique names are overrated.

Shane sounds to me like the male version of my female name. Also didnt want to stray to far away from my birth name.

It's a quality name...one of the better names I could've been given, I think?

Until I'm in a position to change it, I'm diggin' it. :D

I found my name through writing - I wrote a story and really connected with the male characters (that's when I realized I was male), and his name was Nikk. So in honor of that, I've kept Nikk as my primary name, although I also go by Nikolai or Niko because there are a million Nicks at my school, and fortunately my last name is not Lee (not that it's bad) or I'd be the third "Nick Lee" in my grade. So yeah... I'll probably end up using Niko most often with James or Jesse as my middle name (Hey, at least I wouldn't choose Meowth... bad Pokemon joke, sorry). So I'd be either Nikolai James Grafton, Or Nikolai Jesse Grafton.... I think James sounds better.

It's a shame that Megan has almost no variation to it besides Meg the Pegleged Veghead. None of those names sound particularly desirable or male. It would be easier to switch names if I could use a variation... *sigh*

Since I was a kid I've never really liked my name much. But at the same time I was named for two people my mom was really close to so I didn't want to stray far. Plus there was this kid Alex my brother was friends with when we were kids and I was always kind of jealous because I really liked his name. I'm not going for Alexander though, just Alex. I considered Jesse for a while but I always wound up back at Alex. I guess I've known for a long time that it's what I wanted. It feels right.

I'm still deciding on a middle name. My middle name is really girly. It starts with an E so I was thinking Eric, but that would be a little weird because that was my uncle's name and he died when I was a kid. I would definitely take it to honor him, because he's a person I looked up to and aspire to be like. At the same time though, I don't want my dad to be upset whenever he hears it.

Besides I've always wanted a ton of nicknames and my name now doesn't allow for many, at least not many I like. I think it would be cool if I could also go by A.J. I'm considering Jabin as a middle name. It means "perceptive" and I think it fits me well. I'm also considering Jadon, which means "thankful" or "he will judge". I'm not sure I like that one as much but I'm thinking about it.

So I'll either be Alex Eric, Alex Jabin, or Alex Jadon.

Some Megan-like male names as food for thought for you:

Morgan -- there were male twins at my school, and one of them was called Morgan. Can be a girls name though.

Marlon -- Brando, for example.

Mason -- my friend's little brother's name.

Martin -- straightforward, uncomplicated name. No one will mess up your name if your name is Martin.

Merton -- I've seen this more as a last name, but could be used as a first name, I think.

Magnus -- very old fashioned. kind of uber-male. I'm not sure I've ever met anyone who I could really see as a Magnus.

James is more obviously male than Jesse, which phonetically can go either way.

For the record, from your posts, you seem like a Nick/Nikk (however you want to spell it) to me. I'd caution you about spelling it with two kks because it may get annoying if people find it difficult.

I firmly believe I drank entirely to much for about 25 years. Got drunk every day. This was my coping mechanism to keep hiding deep inside that I was a woman. I miss a lot of signs over the years. Now I drink mabye 1 or 2 beers a day don't even get a buzz anymore. totally accept myself and on regret is that I hide that part of my self which  truly makes me happy being violet 💜. I wasted a lot of time before  being self destructive and had no clue I was just hiding th real me

Hey, everyone. my life is going down the tubes. at least I think. So, today. A customer called about his car, I told him that the oil change was done. The parts to fix the check engine light are ordered. He can come and get it. For the weekend if he wants. Customer says I didn't want an oil change. it was check the engine light and check for an oil leak. Checking the work order says oil change. The boss wrote the vehicle up. checking with the customer on services wanted.   Being that I wrote down the appointment in the book. and clearly states oil leak. She is complaining because she can't read my small ish writing. It seems she read oil and assumed it as an oil change. It seems like she is blaming me.  She wound up going home because she was too upset. She is stressing about an eye problem she has, she has to get eye surgery it seems she has a tear in her eye.    I feel that I am short for this job. because of the BS they are blaming me on. Plus I am still upset about the trust issue. If either one of the bosses start their Shite tomorrow. I am walking out.

"I love you so much,"  Lois said.  They met in the driveway. "I could not live without you." "Neither could I." "What are we going to do?" "Find another counselor?" "No. I think we need to solve this ourselves." "Do you think we can?" "I don't know.  But what I know is that I don't want to go through that again.  I think we have to hope we can find a solution." "Otherwise, despair." "Yeah.   Truce?" "Okay,  truce." And they hugged.   "When we know what we want we can figure out how to get there."   That began six years of angry battles, with Odie insisted he could dress as he pleased and Lois insisting it did not please her at all.  He told her she was not going to control him and she replied that she still had rights as a wife to a husband. Neither was willing to give in, neither was willing to quit, and their heated arguments ended in hugs and more.   They went to a Crossdressers' Club, where they hoped to meet other couples with the same problems, the same conflicts, and the same answers, if anyone had any.  It took them four tries before they settled on a group that they were both willing to participate in.  This was four couples their own age, each with a cross dressing husband and a wife who was dealing with it.  They met monthly.  It was led by a 'mediator' who wanted people to express how they felt about the situation.  Odie and Lois, as newcomers, got the floor, and the meeting was finally dismissed at 1:30 in the morning - it was supposed to be over at 10 - and everyone knew how they felt about the situation.   There was silence in the car on the way home.   "We aren't the only ones dealing with this." Odie finally said.   "Who would have thought that?  You are right."   "Somebody out there has a solution." "I hope you are right."   "I hope in hope, not in despair."   "That's my Odie."
    • Abigail Genevieve
The counseling session was heated, if you could call it a counseling session.  Sometimes Lois felt he was on Odie's side, and sometimes on hers.  When he was on her side, Odie got defensive. She found herself being defensive when it seemed they were ganging up on each other.   "This is not working," Lois said angrily, and walked out.  "Never again. I want my husband back. Dr. Smith you are complicit in this."   "What?" said Odie.   The counselor looked at him.  "You will have to learn some listening skills."   "That is it? Listening skills?  You just destroyed my marriage, and you told me I need to learn listening skills?"   Dr. Smith said calmly,"I think you both need to cool off."   Odie looked at him and walked out, saying "And you call yourself a counselor."   "Wait a minute."   "No."

I have read some of it, mostly in areas specifically targeted at the LGBTQ+ peoples.   You also have to take into account what and who is behind the words, not just the words themselves. Together that creates context, right? Let's take some examples, under the Department of Health & Human Services section:   "Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike."   or   "Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families."   From a wording perspective, who doesn't want to protect the health and well-being of Americans or think that families aren't good for America? But let's take a look at the author, Roger Severino. He's well-quoted to be against LGBTQ+ anything, has standard christian nationalist views, supports conversion therapy, etc.   So when he uses words like "threatens the health and well-being of children and adults alike" it's not about actual health, it's about enforcing cis-gendered ideology because he (and the rest of the Heritage Foundation) believe LGBTQ+ people and communities are harmful. Or when he invokes the family through the lens of, let's just say dog whistles including the "penalization of marriage" (how and where?!), he idealizes families involving marriage of a "biological male to a biological female" and associates LGBTQ+ family equity as something unhealthy.   Who are the radical actors? Who is telling people to be trans, gay, or queer in general? No one. The idea that there can be any sort of equity between LGBTQ+ people and "normal" cis people is abhorrent to the author, so the loaded language of radical/destructive/guise/threaten are used. Families that he believes are "good" are stable/well-ordered/healthy, specifically married/nuclear ones.   Start looking into intersectionality of oppression of non-privileged groups and how that affects the concept of the family and you will understand that these platitudes are thinly veiled wrappers for christian nationalist ideology.   What's wrong with equity for queer families, to allow them full rights as parents, who are bringing up smart and able children? Or single mothers who are working three jobs to get food on plates?

I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.
