Detransitioning

I found this on youtube, this girl apparently feels that people who de-transition are not truly transsexual, and are merely cross-dressers who are somehow getting off on posing as transgendered. Personally, I disagree with this on multiple levels, but I am curious to hear other people's opinions.

I disagree with that video on many levels. She doesn't know the definitions between transgender and transsexual. I know others who de-transitioned, and it had nothing to do with not feeling there were the opposite gender, and more to do with societal pressures, like family or church.

Transitioning in general is not easy by any means, and some people just are unable to transition for whatever reason, maybe financial, medical, society, or religious issues and/or pressure, so ther are alot of reasons why someone would de-transition, so saying they are not truely transsexual I fully dissagree with

She goes into some annoying off-topic rambling for a few minutes, but wait until the 9:00 mark, when she gets back on topic and says her final message to "all you guys thinking of de-transitioning". I'd like to send her a PM complimenting her on that mark on her chin, and ask if she cut herself shaving.

I detransitioned because of church, social, elite attitude and girlfriend pressure over 10 years ago. I ended up transitioning fully about 7 years later to who I am now and always have been in my heart. That is her opinion. Too bad it is just that...an opinion. People need to be comfortable in their own skin and quite frankly her video is off base big time. And I will say it...that elite attitude is part of why I detransitioned... Some people would even say that because she has a kid that she is not a real transsexual! Really? Does this community really need this sort of attitude? I think not.

Sorry...this struck a sore spot. grrrr.

One of the problems is in years gone by we had a perfectly good word to define transsexuals. It was transsexuals. But some people had an issue with it so now we have transgender with numerous definitions, and still have transsexual.

Of the top two definitions floating around for TG, one deals with gender ID differing with birth sex. Hmmm. Does that sound like a CD? The other big definition is the umbrella term. Of course who's under the umbrella is subject to change too.

But yeah, TG means TS. Other than when it doesn't and TS is a subgroup of TG.

And this is the confusion from inside the circus :)

I ran out of time posting yesterday and forgot to come back. As is usually the case I'd think the truth is somewhere in the middle. I don't agree with her attitude, and it is of no value to spend time and effort labeling other people. I don't think people are 'just' anything. I don't see TSs as greater than CDs. But I do see a difference. I don't think there is a single reason why people detransition. It's a personal choice and people should be supported who make it.

Some who do it are CD. The process is not designed to last a weekend. It's designed to make things at least a bit uncomfortable so you have to push yourself. I'm sure some decide the sacrifice is too great, others decide now is not the time and come back at a later day, and others do decide they do not need to transition. I couldn't begin to guess percentages for any of these reasons, but I doubt any is a super majority.

Often times when some one makes remarks or makes a video like you see above it...it is an effort to squish others in order to elevate the persons status who is doing the squishing. "Look at me...I am better than you...because.... XYZ." This community really does not need divisive attitudes like this. It is elitist and really out there. There is a time and a place for all things...including when to transition and when not too...or even to detransition.

I am a crossdresser, not merely a crossdresser.

I am proud to be a crossdresser.

Crossdressing works very well for me.

Brenda

And that is the way it should be. It is not up to any one else to label you...except for you.

The name "Mississippi" comes from the Anishinabe tribe of Native Americans; the word means "Father of Waters."

frustration:  the frustration of creative instinct is a notorious evil of the machine age : the state or an instance of being frustrated. : a deep chronic sense or state of insecurity and dissatisfaction arising from unresolved problems or unfulfilled needs

That's horrible that they are blaming you for her presumption. I hate to say it but maybe they are looking for reasons.

I have no skin in the game here, apart from the signal that a re-elected Trump sends to likeminded politicians around the world, which would result in an indirect yet detrimental effect on many people here and elsewhere. So, hopefully what I write here can be used as a reference for how he, and American politics in general, is viewed from a country that is not directly involved.   It seems to me that politics is not taken seriously by enough people in America. Actually, specifically the USA (America can be anywhere from Prudhoe Bay to Panama to Patagonia). Electing a celebrity to high office just wouldn't happen here, let alone one who has overseen the bankruptcy of several of his business ventures and is embroiled in hush-money scandals. I remember during my teenage years when Reagen was elected; the main point of conjecture here was that he was just a B-grade actor. Equally laughable was Arnie as governor of California, although he turned out to be somewhat more socially progressive than most Republican politicians.    I simply cannot understand why the Dems cannot find a decent candidate. Biden has cognitive issues. Everyone expected Harris to step up by now, but no. Where's Jed Bartlet when you need him, lol! In my mind, if Martin Sheen threw his hat in the ring, he'd be elected in a heartbeat because many of you would actually believe that he was the real deal! Even though he's older than Biden!!!   Sorry if that sounds like I am trying to insult the intelligence of y'all. But y'all asked for it, by valuing celebrity over substance over the last five decades or so.    I have no doubt that Trump will win in November, even if he is in jail. His rusted-on supporters will just say, "Yep! That's our boy!!!"

Well said.    Although this so-called Project 2025 will not affect me directly in an immediate sense, it sends a signal to equivalent minded people and political parties around the world that it is okay to exclude minorities and indeed, to persecute them.   In my humble opinion, the far-right politicians know damn well that there is a very large cohort of less-than-intelligent people out there who are not capable of critical thinking and believe every skerrick of dog-whistling, fearmongering, "they're-out-there-to-get-you" rhetoric. Pander to their rural and village attitudes and you're on a winner!    Correcting them with logic and science won't work; they just double down and get louder with their petulance on full display.

Just waking up so I'm in my pajamas - blue/white madras shorts, a navy blue t-shirt and my sleep bra with sleep-rated breast forms.   Thank you @Susan R for telling us about your mastectomy bra and forms fitting experience before your BA surgery and how sleeping in the bra/forms helped with the dysphoria.    First, hearing about your courage to get fitted gave me the confidence and courage to go out in public.   And, second, finding sleep mastectomy bras and sleep-rated breast forms (I found a set on eBay for a good price) has been a tremendous boost to my feeling comfortable in my pajamas and nightgowns and tamping down my dysphoria and dysmorphia.

Germany has more castles than there are McDonald's in the United States. Yep, you heard that right. Germany is estimated to have 25,000 castles, and there are around 13,000 McDonald's locations in America.   In Washington state, there's a real-life law stating it's illegal to kill bigfoot and other sasquatch-like creatures.
