Hopefully someone will be able to answer some of the questions I have

At the moment I have the body of an obese male weighing 300lb , I have lost about 40lb over the last 8 months , I have heavily muscled legs from cycling 10 miles per day , I have a large amount of upper body and abdomen muscle along with the fat . When I start hormone therapy will I lose a lot of the muscle ? Ideally I would like the body of a well toned woman :) would I have to train really hard to maintain the weight loss and be extra strict with diet ?

JorjaFox,

Unfortunately i t will probably take a lot of work. There is this you tuber named Jesslyn. Her account on YouTube is jesslyngirl87. She is trans and is a former bodybuilder. I suggest watching her videos for advise about losing muscle mass. I have also heard that hurt helps a lot with reducing muscle mass.

I started off at 350 pounds when fully came out in 2009, I actually waited until I reached about 210 to start HRT and you will burn fat faster pre-hrt.. That said I'm still losing weight even after HRT I'm down to around 190 now, but I also exercise every single day and count calories. I try really hard to not slack off even though sometimes I do. I have very well toned legs as well because I work out on a treadmill at a steep incline for an hour and a half, and yes even though I keep it up every day I can see my calfs for example are slimming a bit losing a little muscle tone.

Anyways goodluck with the weight loss. :)

Hugs,

Sarah

In my understanding both E and T drive hunger for different reasons. I have seen it postulated it is because your body thinks it is going through puberty and needs to add either the fatty deposits to hips and breasts in the case of women or bulk up in the case of men and we have the hunger of the proverbial teen. But that doesn't mean you have to gain weight. You just have to find ways to change eating patterns and commit to the idea that it a life change and not a temporary situation to fix a problem before going back to the way it was.

I lost 200 libs since transition-160 of it while on T-and kept it off for a year.in my case I was hoping from all I read that losing on T would cause me to lose fat in female areas first. It did. My body shape is completely different than it was when I was this size in the past. For women I believe there needs to be some weight gain on E to build those rounded hips and breasts because they are both primarily shaped and filled out with fat deposits. You can't as easily deposit fat when you are burning it instead I think. But that is my belief and I have not really researched it.

I have heard it reported here many, many times and seen it in many pics as well that muscle mass will diminish. There is variation from individual to individual but mass does diminish. That said I had really big calves from riding a bike in the mountains for years that never left me while I was female bodied. I spent 3 years as an invalid and my muscles atrophied so for the first time in 45 years my calves are in proportion to my body and T has not caused them to reappear. So some degree of muscle from the biking may remain. the good news is that I see the phrase frequently that for women muscled in the new tan. very in.

Feel free to PM me if there are any weight loss questions you'd like to ask

All the best with losing that weight-it can make a big difference in your whole life

I am starting to think some people are just not able to drop any weight at all. When I was younger age 22 and younger I was super thin and could eat 7k calories a day and not gain an oz. Over the years I added on some weight a bulked up to around the 220 range. But after Starting HRt I ballooned up to 285 and can not seem to drop any weight at all. I get plenty of exerciser eat less then 2k calories a day and try to keep at 1500 or less but still I am still a fat slob. I try my best to eat right have added so many more fruits and veggies to my diet . I keep away from beef and pork as much as possible and eat mostly fish and chicken for my protein. Except for fruits I keep away from sweets like the plague. I drink a gallon or more of water and or tea( no sugar or any sweeteners) a day. For the most part I feel just fine can do pretty much anything I could from when I was skinny but yet I carry so much darn weight I just do not get it. Before I am able to even think about SRS/GRS I will need to get below 200 lbs. Can not seem to even drop 5 lbs let alone 90 plus lbs. But on a good note I am pretty happy with pretty much everything in my live except the being a giant fat cow.

Megan, there has to be a reason if you are not losing weight with that routine. Have they checked your thyroid? Even if they have it could still be a problem. Some people don't test low when they actually are. My whole family has that and after a wise Dr put my mother on thyroid he told her to have those of us with the same symptoms insist they do a trial on thyroid. Mine always tests the same whether I take thyroid or not or when they change the dose but I definitely feel better and function better on the thyroid. One thing that can happen is your metabolism can reset really low if you stay on a low calorie diet 24/7 and make it super difficult to lose but exercise should kick it off more so that doesn't sound like the problem.

Have had my thyroid checked so many times . They keep saying I am just fine. But you are right sometimes it will check out just fine but still be messed up.

Its funny when I was in the army and doing field duty there were times I would eat upwards of 5k calories a day and I lost weight. Seems my body thinks its being staved when I try to eat better and refuses to give up any of the stuff I get from eating the food. Last fall was able to drop around 15 lbs but winter came and it all came back..Since then its been a constant battle to not gain any weight and just maintain were I am at.

Megan it's not easy , one thing that has helped me is going to this web site and logging my exercise and filling in my food diary on www.myfitnesspal.com . At first the food diary helps you realise how many calories you are actually getting through. myfitnesspal also has an app for android or iphone with a scanner built in to it , so you scan the barcode on the food you have eaten and it tells you how many calories and records it in your dairy. One thing you need to say to yourself is I can do this. I also could eat anything I wanted to and not get fat , when I was 29 I stopped smoking and got married since then the weight has piled on. in my younger days I could wear a uk size 12 (size 10 in U.S. I think} in female clothing , now its more like a size 24 (size 22 in u.s terms I think). .

I was diagnosed with hypogonadism last year and was put on testosterone injections this has also led to an increase in muscle. I am going to stop these injections and plan to see my gp to get referred to a gender clinic , it was a a temptation to do DIY but I realise now after reading posts on this forum I realise how risky it is. I'm fed up with the secret cross dressing and want my outer body to portray how I feel on the inside.

Well said.    Although this so-called Project 2025 will not affect me directly in an immediate sense, it sends a signal to equivalent minded people and political parties around the world that it is okay to exclude minorities and indeed, to persecute them.   In my humble opinion, the far-right politicians know damn well that there is a very large cohort of less-than-intelligent people out there who are not capable of critical thinking and believe every skerrick of dog-whistling, fearmongering, "they're-out-there-to-get-you" rhetoric. Pander to their rural and village attitudes and you're on a winner!    Correcting them with logic and science won't work; they just double down and get louder with their petulance on full display.

Just waking up so I'm in my pajamas - blue/white madras shorts, a navy blue t-shirt and my sleep bra with sleep-rated breast forms.   Thank you @Susan R for telling us about your mastectomy bra and forms fitting experience before your BA surgery and how sleeping in the bra/forms helped with the dysphoria.    First, hearing about your courage to get fitted gave me the confidence and courage to go out in public.   And, second, finding sleep mastectomy bras and sleep-rated breast forms (I found a set on eBay for a good price) has been a tremendous boost to my feeling comfortable in my pajamas and nightgowns and tamping down my dysphoria and dysmorphia.

Germany has more castles than there are McDonald's in the United States. Yep, you heard that right. Germany is estimated to have 25,000 castles, and there are around 13,000 McDonald's locations in America.   In Washington state, there's a real-life law stating it's illegal to kill bigfoot and other sasquatch-like creatures.

DREAD f you’re anticipating something positive, you’re probably motivated to summon all your patience to wait for it—and sometimes for extended time periods. It may be counter-intuitive, yet in certain instances such waiting can itself be gratifying. Consider Carly Simon’s song “Anticipation,” the old Heinz ketchup ads, and—especially—recent research pointing in the opposite direction as regards awaiting something highly aversive. In this post I won’t be reviewing ketchup commercials, but I will be exploring some intriguing research on dread-infused anticipation.

So an update from me.   Had my endo appointment last night. Went very well and they are sending 3 months supply of estrogen (estradoil patches) and the anti-androgens whilst my Dr gets a shared care agreement sorted out. So happy, should start HRT tomorrow!! Cost for the 3 month supply is £70 total for me, so not too bad. Not told my parents about this yet, but them being in spain, not sure they need to know yet.   Can't wait to start, just got to think about where to put the patches now and wait for the changes...

Good Morning    well it’s Friday for most, pay day for some.  For me it’s pay day but not Friday.  I work the same opening shift tomorrow.  I typically have Friday on Saturday and Monday on Tuesday.     @KymmieL it does sound like your shop has an issue and you are smack in the thick of it.  The new gal or guy often is.  We have an issue with new people not getting fully trained before being turned loose on customers.  Some struggle through it and some quit because of it.  I try to get them working with customers as quickly as I can but I stay right with them observing, helping, even jumping in when things are getting backed up to keep the stress down.  Not everything comes up during training so when things do, even later after trying is done, I try to help and explain.  Our ASM feels that once she has you scanning barcodes and taking money she is done training.  Generally, refuses to train me on things that she does, and questions why I’m doing something that she normally handles when I’ve been told to do it as part of my advancement training.     She and the cashier involved both keep trying to toss the manager under the bus over a hours of work issue and shifts.  I tell her I realize her issues and I’ll work what ever she needs.  Because of that I tend to get a better more consistent schedule.   Well, time to say Happy Trails to you, until we meet again.   Hi ho Silver, away   Willow

That does get you the 'starting point' for cup size, but manufacturers, style, breast shape, etc... will effect the results.    Step one is of course finding the proper band fit, then figuring out the approximate cup size with the calculations. Of course you need to try on a few styles after that in different cup sizes close to your measured result until you get the perfect fit.    I have bras in a DD that fit just like my bras in DDD both from Torrid but different styles.    I have some DDD's that fit awesome and some that are a bit loose, but I measure a 46G. It's not wonder that 80% of women are wearing them wrong bra.
