Hair Vitamins and Spiro

Hey everyone,

So I am trying to grow my hair out faster and have vitamins by GNC called Ultra Nourish Hair... I know that with spiros you have to be careful with potassium intake but on the nutritional information it says Iodine is in the vitamin which is a source of potassium?

Do any of you girls know what hair vitamins are safe to take with spiros?

Jamie, I couldn't say off the top of my head, but this is definitely something you should discuss with you prescribing doctor or your pharmacist they would be able to give you much more sure information I think.

I cannot take ANY multi-vitamins, and I hate taking a handful of singles at a time (I cannot take iron in a direct form -- only from vegies), but one item on the spiro is that it will help any hair you start growing in the next few months to have less of a male texture, which may make it finer, but softer too. All of your hair grows in cycles with dormant, new, growing, maturing, and dying follicles. The last three will take your male hair out in about a year. The first two cycles get your Girl stuff started. A good balanced diet with enough, but not too much protein will do the best for you. Check with the pharmacist as Sarah suggested, they can look up drug interactions very easily for you and let you know what to ask your doctor. Wash your hair only about once a week, or after changing the oil on your car if you change the oil yourself. Just remember, it grows on you with time.

Very useful and great information Vicky!!! It is so interesting how hair has different growth cycles and the difference in textures between female and male.

Thank you so much!

You are right to worry about the potassium. A build up can be very dangerous and make it necessary to go off HRT if it gets too bad. Please talk to your MD. Time will make many of the changes you desire but we are all different. My body hair is much different but i am still bald. Without a wig i now look like some of my women friends who have had great cancer. Oddly now i do see a woman even thought she is bald. Please be careful and take good care of yourself.

Hugs,

Charlie

Ya thanks Vicky, as I am often changing someones oil :P

I am glad you posted this Jamie as I currently have short hair and hate it so much it cant grow out fast enough, and I had no idea there were hair vitamins out there.

After reading these replies I think I will just be a dirty hippie girl as Vicky suggests and let it grow out naturally, I dont want to have an HRT complication before even starting on it. <_<

Now if there was a magic remedy for killing facial hair I would be infinitely more tempted to try that vitamin. :)

Yes Brenda, there are hair vitamins, I just posted this on another thread, but here it bears repeating. Of course if you are on a medication that might possibly interact with Any of this...ask first!

My colorist has told me tha some B vitamins can help hair to grow better and become shinier. We have to feed our hair from the inside and outside as well. Pantothenic Acid and Biotin are B supplements, dosage you can look up on hair beauty sites, or natural foods sites, the B vitamins are water soluble so whatever your body does not use it secretes it out. Some peeps rely on egg hair masques, some say raw yolks, others raw egg whites left in hair for fifteen minutes or longer will shine up your hair, others like olive oil or organic coconut oil placed in hair for a time, just be careful if rinsing out in the shower these oils are slippery and will make your shower/bath slippery as snot. And you will have to clean up the tub when done. A sink might Be the way to go. Go to where the women go for beauty advice, there are tons of beauty sites out there, and....enjoy the treatments it's all very girly!
