Well last night kinda sucked, some of the looting in Milwaukee happened less than a mile away from my house. Did manage a little sleep, currently drinking my lifebl.... er coffee. Watching the CSPAN coverage of the Crew Dragon docking at the ISS.

Kind of debating, my bio-mother is coming for a few days to visit. I kinda want to do my makeup today, but on the other hand still have a lot of cleaning to do.

@JustineM, I’m glad you’re safe! That CrewDragon is a pretty cool machine huh?

Thanks, worn out but safe here. And yeah, that is a sleek looking machine. Been trying to follow the testing and development of the program as closely as I can.

Went for a ride today. Over the Snowy range, stopped in a no stop light town. Had lunch then up to I-80 back to Laramie. Still quite a bit of snow up there. Turns out I only have a 4 day weekend. Have to open tomorrow. But off at 1pm Thursday and off Friday.

Hugs

@KymmieL,

That bike is GORGEOUS!!! I love taking my bike out in the good weather but family needs have kinda prevented my first ride of the season. I’ve been riding Buells for a few years now and love my S2 Thunderbolt. HD power in a tube chassis!

Stay safe out there. Lots of cagers distracted by their phones. Remember, keep her rubber side down.

Morning comes, but not a wink of sleep to be had.?

But had me cup of joe. Sadly, I might need to buy a new bialetti coffee pot. Sounds like it's dieing. Such a high pitch screeching noise when it's barely started percolating. ?Cleaned as best I could, even cleaned the valve, still screeches like a beast. The metal filter for holding the grounds in, is such a pain to clean, feel it must be somewhat to blame.

Good morning everyone it’s Monday haha! Yesterday was a good day went for a little bike ride in the morning, did some housework, and did a little shopping even though we didn’t buy anything. Then my wife’s parents came over for dinner. They asked us if we wanted to go to Florida with them we said we would go, but I told my wife later I would go but I want to be out to them before we go. So coming out to them along with everyone else is gonna have to happen soon. Here I thought I could hide longer boy was I wrong lol.

Good morning,

I fully understand the not ready to come out to the world.  I too am there.  I have no advice to offer.

But, I have finally reached the critical point when you can’t stay private anymore.  No, it’s not because of anything in my physical appearance although my body hair has changed and I’ve seen a little breast growth.  It’s a mental thing.  You eventually get to the place that you don’t want to hide, but you are still scared.  I passed that point this weekend.  I told a friend who I knew wouldn’t judge, then I told my brother in law and his wife.  That was a hurdle I was concerned about because they are ultra conservative.  It actually was no problem.  They accepted it hugged me afterwards, and thanked me for confiding in them.

I guess you never know but I broke through the barrier.  Yes it is also a weight off your mind.  Do it on your own timeline don’t force it, but you will feel relief when the time is right and you start telling people.

Good morning @Emily michelle!

My advice is to just do it. I know it's scary as all get out, but if you keep making excuses you'll never actually manage to come out on your own terms. Your first attempts will be bumbly and awkward. Don't panic. Like any skill, it needs to be practiced before you reach proficiency. Delaying only results in, for example, some random guy in the locker room commenting on how brave you are for changing in there despite your obvious female breasts.

The people that honestly care about you will still accept you. The ones that were on the fence could go either way. In any case, this is one of those situations where you really find out who your friends are and which family members you want to keep close.

I've got a pretty boring day planned. I've had waffles and gone through my morning maintenance routine. I expect to spend the rest of the day writing, going to doctor's appointments and figuring out what I'm going to do about dinner. I'm thinking Chinese barbecue chicken.

Hugs!

Fingers crossed, babe. But if you don't get this one, there are always others out there.

And with that resume, if they don't hire you, they're fools. And no one wants to work for a fool. So either way you come out ahead.

Good luck, Babe! xoxo

Sun is shining and The smell of coffee is in the air. A few quick errands, kiosk coffee with DD1, a small chore for the ex and then home. This afternoon will involve making the last three panels for my painting series.

Some others here have been chatting about loss of male privilege and how the change from male to female effects things not previously considered. Example, I have been going to the same lumber yard for over a year to get the materials to make the panels I paint on. I have been charged three different prices. The owner who I have known since before I transitioned charged me $45, a male clerk I did not know charged me $53 ( his excuse was a milling fee for each cut of the plywood, four cuts @ $1.00 per cut) and the woman clerk who charged me $35. All for the same material, same previous dimensions and number of cuts. I wonder if something low cut would help or maybe just butch it up and see if there is a difference. As my ex said “You wanted to transition now you pay the price...welcome to being a woman”.

She looks great! Can’t wait to see a pic of ShawnaLeigh and Patti Anne together. What a cute couple!

Having my morning cup of java...vanilla Americana today. Not bad but it’s a flavor that I’d grow tired of very quickly. Will be doing gardening all day today.

Tomorrow, if plans work out, I’ll be spending the day at the park having a picnic with my 13 year old grandson and my wife. This will be very interesting because he has only been allowed to meet us once in a very controlled setting for an hour of so when I first ‘came out’ to them last April. My new son-in-law (his new step-dad) is NOT keen on anything trans and has kept both grandsons away from my wife and I. My grandson seems indifferent and shy about my changes but sometimes this attitude and hate for a group can be passed down. I hope this isn’t the case. I’ll find out tomorrow.

Ok. Good morning/afternoon all! I just had the absolute most amazing experience EVER!!!!

As I was walking back into work from lunch, I saw one of the front office people and called them by the name I knew them by. Ashley. They proceeded to let me know it was just Ash from now on and they are getting legal name change an all. To which brought on my conversation about me being trans the other way around. And it felt AMAZING to know I work with such an amazing variety of people!

Our HR manager is gay, one of my very good friends is lesbian, and now us trans on either side of the coin... All under the same roof!!! I love it!!!

Hugs ❤️

Hi everyone

Love the new pic Patti.  Good luck with the Job interview Shawna.

I had a great day today.  My wife and I went shopping.  Michael’s for some sewing items them our mall to window shop.  No one appeared to see anything but two women shopping together.  Never got misgendered.  Even got a complement on the dress I was wearing.  This just topped off a great weekend.

I read each of your entries and learn so much. Thank you, especially, for the TransCentralPA info. I have been looking fora group and activities where I could express myself safely and with support. I missed this year's conference but next year might be possible and I am going to look at their other events, too.

I have read numerous accounts of trans folk no longer being welcome among evangelicals.   I am here for help and fellowship not to rebuke anyone.  I can take a pretty high degree of insult, etc., and you haven't insulted me, to my recollection anyway :) and I usually let it go.  But I thought I would let it all out there.   I am sure I disagree with you on numerous issues.  I appreciate other people's viewpoints, including those who radically disagree with me.  Intellectual challenge is good. One thing I appreciate about @MaeBe.

Post 8 “The Ohio Years” We moved to Pittsburgh because of the job with US Airways.  The job involved classroom instruction and simulator training, but no actual flying, so I kept looking for an actual pilot position.  A year after signing on with US Airways I got hired to fly business jets.  The company was located in Cleveland, Ohio, but I was flown commercially from my home in Pittsburgh to where my aircraft was located, making it unnecessary to live near company headquarters.    My flight scheduled consisted of eight days on duty with seven days off.  Having seven days off in a row was great but being gone from home eight days in a row was difficult.  For the first few years the flying was fun, but after a while the eight flying days in a row, were taking their toll on me.  Those days were brutal, consisting of very long hours and a lot of flying time.  Usually, I came home exhausted and need three days just to recover from the work week.  Flying for a living is glamorous until you actually do it.  Quickly, it became just a job.    After five years as a line captain, I became a flight department manager, which required we live near company headquarters.  That meant a move to Cleveland.  Working in the office meant I was home every night but as a manager, the schedule was still challenging.  I would work in the office all week and then be expected to go out and fly the line on weekends.  I referred to it as my “5 on 2 on” schedule, because it felt as though I had no time off at all.   About the same time, we moved to Cleveland, my wife and I became “empty nesters,” with one son in the military and the other away at college.  Sadly, my work schedule didn’t leave much time for Sally.  Add to the fact that while Cleveland is an awesome city, I just never felt comfortable expressing my feminine side.  Most of my outings, and believe me there weren’t enough, occurred while I was on vacation and away from home.   One of the most memorable outings occurred over a long weekend.  I had stumbled across an online notice for a spring formal being held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, hosted by a local trans group there.  I reached out to Willa to see if she was up for an excellent adventure.  She was, so I picked her up and we drove to Harrisburg together.    The formal was held on Saturday evening and we had the absolute best time.  It turned out that organizers were a group named TransCentralPA.  Everyone was wonderful and I made a lot of new friends that evening.  We learned the spring formal was one of the group’s annual events but for the following year, instead of a spring formal, the group wanted to do a local transgender conference.  That local conference would become the Keystone Conference, and I would attend every year for the next 12.  My move to the west coast was the only reason I stopped attending annually.  I went to the first annual Keystone Conference as an attendee, but in subsequent years I served as a volunteer and as a workshop presenter; more about those in the next installment.   For my Cleveland years, the Keystone Conference would be my major outlet for feminine self-expression.  Yes, I did get out on other occasions, but they were too infrequent.  The managerial job just didn’t allow me the freedom I needed to adequately live my feminine life, and my frustration level was slowly, but steadily on the rise.  It amazed me how adversely not being able to express the feminine half of my personality was affecting my happiness.   However, a major life change was upcoming, and while it would prove to be a significant challenge in many ways, the events would ultimately benefit my female persona.  First, my mom and dad got sick.  They were in and out of the hospital and required personal care.  My wife and I did our best but living in Cleveland, we were too far from them to give them the support they both needed.  Second, I was experiencing serious job burn out.  I decided I need to find another job and I needed to be closer to my parents.    Things changed for the better when I got hired by an aviation training company as a flight simulator instructor.  I would be training business jet pilots.  The training facility was located in New Jersey, which put us much closer to my parents, and the work schedule was much better for quality of life.  Most importantly, this life change would help Sally re-emerge and once again flower.    Hugs,   Sally

I made a living talking about bulk liquids in cargo tanks transportation as a driver and mechanic. Safe loading/unloading, cleaning and inspecting, as well as emergency response scenarios.   Hazmat and fire behavior in the fire service as well as emergency vehicle operations and safe driving. "It was on fire when they called you. It will be on fire when you get there." Arrive ready to work. I could also talk about firefighter behavioral  heath and the grieving process.   The real fun thing is I can do this for people who are not Truck Drivers or Fire Fighters. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Citizen Tax payers about Public Safety Education.   I love public speaking,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Got a new Granddaughter this morning.  Mother and child (and father) are doing fine. This makes 7 granddaughters and one grandson.  I have 2 sons and 6 daughters myself.  And then I  switched teams.  I think this stuff runs in the family. Another hard day for the patriarchy.

Like @MaeBe pointed out, Trump won't do these things personally.  I doubt that he actually gives a rat's a$$ himself.  But he is the foot in the door for the others.   I don't really see this.  Personally, I am all in favor of "traditional" families.  I raised my own kids this way and it can work fine.  But I think we need to allow for other variations as well.   One thing working against this now is how hard it is for a single breadwinner to support a family.  Many people (I know some) would prefer "traditional" if they could actually afford it.  Like I mentioned, we raised our family with this model, but we were always right at the poverty level.   I was a "conservative evangelical" for most of my life, actually.  So I do understand this.  Admittedly, I no longer consider myself one. I have family members still in this camp.  Some tolerate me, one actually rejects me.  I assure you the rejection is on her side, not mine.  But, I understand she believes what she is doing is right - 'sa pity though. I mean no insult toward anyone on this forum.  You're free to disagree with me.  Many people do.   This is a pretty complex one.  Socialism takes many forms, many of which we accept without even realizing it.  "Classism" does exist, for what it's worth.  Always has, probably always will.  But I don't feel like that is a subject for this forum.   As for the election, it's shaping up to be another one of those "hold your nose" deals.
