Having to have biopsy

Laura Beth

Recommended Posts

A few weeks ago I collapsed out of the blue; I found out I suffer from sudden low blood pressure. While at the hospital I had a x-ray done on my chest which in turn lead to a C.A.T. scan which again lead to me  having a biopsy on my right lung today. I gave my preferred name but I kept being referred to as my first name that no one uses. When the nurse called me to the back to get changed for the procedure she used the unused name but referred to me in the female context to let my ex know how long roughly I would be. As we went through the door she quickly corrected herself about my gender but I explained that she wasn't wrong about my gender because I was transitioning from MTF. I kept being referred to as Alberta but after I was back in recovery I heard the nurse call me by my preferred  name of Laura. I now have to wait for the results to come back and hope it is not cancer.

So as I continue through life I keep explaining myself but I do it in a kind and gentle way. I have received support from everyone I have told.

I'm sorry you had to go through that name issue Laura, especially as you had given your name to the nurse.  When it didn't match the name on their records the nurse should have inquired about your preferred name and used it.

I hope the test comes back with good results.

The hospital up here doesn't print out the preferred name on the paperwork just the legal names. The nurse was very understanding but with how the paperwork is you can't explain it to every one you interact with. I had roughly seven or eight different nurses attending to me in waiting for the procedure and during the procedure.

Best wishes on your test results. Collapsing like that can be a very scary experience.

Hope your biopsy doesn't show problems!

As more of us have come out and go to the hospital our preferred names and gender are becoming more of an issue.  Ask for a note on your chart.  I found that helped me.

Get well soon.  You have a community hear routing for you.

Hugs,

An update to the biopsy I had. I was back at the emergency last night because of high fever and shortness of breath. It turns out  I developed pneumonia and all the lovely affects that brings. The doctor who did the biopsy just happened to be there at the time and gave me the results. The DEMON is back and I will find out after my bone scan next Friday if it has spread to my bones.

I'm sorry to hear that, Laura. I hope it has not spread. And I hope your pneumonia gets better quickly.

I hope this has been caught before it spread too far Laura.  I'm glad you went to the ER.  There is never a need to stall when looking after our health.

I hope that it has not spread, and that you can rid yourself of this as soon as possible. Stay strong and we are all here to lift you up and through this battle! ????

That's terrible news, I'm really sorry. I'm glad that you are getting your pneumonia treated. Let's hope the demon hasn't metastasized and that you have treatment options available to you to beat it back.  Get well soon, Laura Beth.

I'm not happy to admit this, but I usually scream or break things.   Breaking things became a bit of a no no, because It was always a cd or something I liked and it got very expensive to replace stuff

Probably amusement parks. I've never been to one sadly, but I think I could talk for an hour about them without any problem

The name "Mississippi" comes from the Anishinabe tribe of Native Americans; the word means "Father of Waters."

frustration:  the frustration of creative instinct is a notorious evil of the machine age : the state or an instance of being frustrated. : a deep chronic sense or state of insecurity and dissatisfaction arising from unresolved problems or unfulfilled needs

Fighting a fever since yesterday. Been shivering cold. even though I keep the house at 71. Went to bed at about 8 last night slept until my wifes alarm was going off.    Ashley I think you are correct. However, they won't be graced with my presence today.   Hugs,   Kymmie

That's horrible that they are blaming you for her presumption. I hate to say it but maybe they are looking for reasons.

I have no skin in the game here, apart from the signal that a re-elected Trump sends to likeminded politicians around the world, which would result in an indirect yet detrimental effect on many people here and elsewhere. So, hopefully what I write here can be used as a reference for how he, and American politics in general, is viewed from a country that is not directly involved.   It seems to me that politics is not taken seriously by enough people in America. Actually, specifically the USA (America can be anywhere from Prudhoe Bay to Panama to Patagonia). Electing a celebrity to high office just wouldn't happen here, let alone one who has overseen the bankruptcy of several of his business ventures and is embroiled in hush-money scandals. I remember during my teenage years when Reagen was elected; the main point of conjecture here was that he was just a B-grade actor. Equally laughable was Arnie as governor of California, although he turned out to be somewhat more socially progressive than most Republican politicians.    I simply cannot understand why the Dems cannot find a decent candidate. Biden has cognitive issues. Everyone expected Harris to step up by now, but no. Where's Jed Bartlet when you need him, lol! In my mind, if Martin Sheen threw his hat in the ring, he'd be elected in a heartbeat because many of you would actually believe that he was the real deal! Even though he's older than Biden!!!   Sorry if that sounds like I am trying to insult the intelligence of y'all. But y'all asked for it, by valuing celebrity over substance over the last five decades or so.    I have no doubt that Trump will win in November, even if he is in jail. His rusted-on supporters will just say, "Yep! That's our boy!!!"
